  • Thanks for the advice! I cleared my cache and cookies and it still doesn't work :( I can however log exercise with no problem
  • No, I'm using it on my PC, so via the website I guess.
  • Same thing every day, have for years - 1/2 cup All Bran Buds for the fibre, 1 TBSP Hemp Hearts for a healthy fat, 3/4 cup 2% Plain Greek Yogurt for protein and 1/6 cup dried sour cherries for some sweetness. Boring but easy to eat at work and fills me up.
  • My husband is about 6' and got down to 172 last year, not intentionally but due to an undiagnosed hyperthyroid condition. He looked like a walking skeleton....now he's back up to 195 and looks great. Don't compare yourself to your friends.....I spent a lifetime doing that and finally in my 50's have come to accept that I…
  • You could incorporate some squats, dead lifts, step ups, lunges for your lower body...no equipment needed, just weights.
  • I also gained a fair bit of weight on Citalopram, at least 15 lbs. I am slowly trying to wean myself off it now in hopes that will help with my weight loss. I have cut about 1,000 calories a day from my diet since the end of December but have only lost 3 lbs, so am increasing my exercise, sharpening up my eating and trying…
  • Welcome to My Fitness Pal!
  • This!!!!
  • Are you taking medication? You will likely have to reduce your meds as you become healthier, so as the poster above noted make sure you are being monitored and that you are exercising safely. When I lost 50+ lbs I cut my medication in half but I've never been able to come right off of it. Just do the best you can!
  • I would consult with a trainer at your gym and have them evaluate your form. I am sure they will be happy to do it for you.
  • Calgary Alberta here!
  • I don't know if it's on YouTube, but here in Canada we had a show called X-Weighted that aired about 10 years ago. It truly is a reality show...if you watch it you will see what I mean....typically Canadian, not overproduced or scripted. It follows one average person's weight loss journey over a 6-month period where they…
  • Good luck!!! I've been through the journey a few times and know it can be done!
  • Do you use the same jack as the charger, like an IPod?
  • Hello from Calgary, Canada! I am of British descent, my grandparents were from Worksop! Sorry about your Mom, that is very stressful. Just do the best you can and celebrate your victories, no matter how small you think they are! I have been down this road before, having lost over 50 lbs using MFP and exercise in 2010-2011.…
  • Welcome to MFP! I have to lose at least 50 lbs, so feel free to Friend me. Good for you for recognizing you need to make a change when you are still young....it is so much harder to change habits as life goes on. You can do it!
  • I am 53! If you would like a Canadian friend please add me...I can't tell you where the discounts are though :)
  • Me too! I lost 52 lbs using MFP in 2009/2010, kept it off until 2014 and have gained it all back since then. I felt so good then, so healthy, I miss it! Feel free to add me too!
  • Thanks for the info, maybe I'll try the "Flex" model!

  • One of my co-workers had the wrist model and got a terrible burn from it....I guess it reacted with her skin? Anyway she got this terrible black blister from it and had to stop using it. That was back in February and the mark is still there, even after it healed (with antibiotics after a trip to the doctor). Anyone else…

  • I like All Bran Buds....they do have 7 grams of sugar per serving which is one more than multi-grain Cheerios, but a 1/3 cup serving of All Bran Buds has 11 grams of fibre while MG Cheerios only has 3. I mix mine with plain FF Greek yogurt for protein, a few raisins for sweetness and some hemp hearts or chia seeds for a…
  • I'm in the same boat as you! I started MFP in Feb 2010 and had lost 52 lbs by Feb 2011 and kept it off for 2 more years. Then the old unhealthy habits crept back in and I gained almost 10 lbs between January & June last year despite still working out a lot. My problem is junk food and sugar. Then in June I got a bad…
  • Unfortunately no! Four years ago my HDL was low & my LDL was high, so I completely changed my lifestyle. In a year I lost 50 lbs, exercised almost every day and ate lots of whole foods. I was so disappointed that my HDL went even lower & my LDL stayed the same. Darn! Last year I went on Lipitor but had to come off it due…

  • Great question! I'll be interested in the answers you get because I have arthritis in my left hip and therefore my left leg is also weaker than my right, and the muscles always sore. This is a recent development (6 months or so) and when I was working out consistently before the pain started I had no issues.
  • Fat free, plain Greek yogurt mixed with 1/2 cup All Bran cereal, 1/8 cup raisins (allergic to berries or I'd have some of those instead), 1/2 oz walnuts, 1/2 TBSP hemp hearts and 1/2 TBSP Chia seeds. Easy to portion out the dry stuff into baggies and take a container of yogurt to work. Yum!
  • What about walking on the treadmill or outside, if you are able to walk? Or is it strength-training exercises you are looking for? If so what about squats, lunges, stuff like that, using your own body weight for resistence? BTW I love the kitty in your profile picture!
  • I broke my left wrist a year ago and haven't been able to do pushups or any exercise that involves placing my hand on the floor since. Do planks on your elbows, they should be almost as effective that way.
  • My name is Karen, I'm from beautiful Calgary, Alberta, Canada at the base of the great Canadian Rockies. I'm a Landman in the oil & gas industry and I'm 49 years young!
