  • You only eat dinner....as in you only eat once a day? Why?????
  • Please send me a friend request! I've been doing MFP since Feb 2010 but have had a very stressful year (mom had cancer) and I too feel off the wagon, eating tons of junk & not exercising much since the end of May. For the last 8 weeks I've been having back/hip issues as well and am very sore most days but am at least out…
  • All Bran cereal mixed with plain FF Greek yogurt, a nectarine and 1 TBSP of Hemp Hearts.
  • Why not set a goal of losing a certain percentage of body fat instead of numbers on the scale. Read this blog, it may be helpful: http://www.paulplakas.com/2013/08/stupid-scale/
  • I have a protein smoothie - rice/quinoa protein powder, flax seed, chia seeds, hemp hearts (1 TBSP each) with unsweetened almond milk and some frozen peaches or mango (allergic to berries). I saw Jillian Michels on TV a couple of weeks ago saying that you should never exercise on an empty stomach. Not that she's always…
  • Just checked out his website, plunked in my numbers and it said I should eat 399 calories on my down days. No way that's going to happen. I eat over 400 calories of very healthy food just for breakfast.....I'd be passing out by day's end if I only ate 400 or 500 calories in any given day.

  • Was disheartened to see all the people (kids and adults) shown on Piers Morgan last night who were clammering for A-Rod's (a.k.a. Nim-Rod) autograph. Very disturbing. Let's face it - someone who looks like he does, plays baseball like he does and makes the money he does could care less what his fans or anyone else things…
  • Honestly, I think tats look great on young, hot, sexy people, male or female. When middle-ager's (like myself) get them in obvious places...well, they just look silly to me. I don't have any but I liked tats a lot more when less people had them.

  • I'm sort of in the same boat as you! I started a boot camp the first week of April and have GAINED weight and inches. Yikes! My workout routine before was 3-4 times a week, 30 minutes on the treadmill followed by either a total body strength training routine or a kettlebell routine, both about 20 minutes. Average calorie…
  • I used this one and found it very effective (especially for a beginner). http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/kettlebell-workout
  • I sure hope that ^^ is my experience, but as you will see from my previous post I've done nothing but gain since starting TDEE 3 weeks ago.
  • I seem to be one of the few who has not found eating more successful. After losing 50 lbs at 1200/day (& eating back exercise calories), keeping it off for 18 months, I gained 10 lbs over a few months (bad eating habits crept in again). I tried going back to 1200/day, eating exercise calories but didn't lose anything. I…
  • Hi there - I posted this reply to another thread about this topic earlier today, so thought I'd share it with you here too! "I too found the whole idea confusing, but yesterday I went to this website: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ and listened to "The F2F Philosophy". Now it all makes perfect sense to me, so perhaps…

  • I too found the whole idea confusing, but yesterday I went to this website: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ and listened to "The F2F Philosophy". Now it all makes perfect sense to me, so perhaps go there and listen to that podcast (it's about 20 minutes long) and hopefully it will help you too!
  • [But, if all you remember from the replies here is one thing, remember this, - it is far easier to take BP pills than it is to recover/survive a heart Attack or Stroke. [/quote] ^^ This is a great statement! There's nothing wrong with taking medication for something like high BP if it's potentially going to save your life.…
  • My young (24) nephew is a "personal trainer" at one of the large chain fitness centres in the city I live in. His "training" consisted of a week-long program taught by the chain itself that he (or should I say his parents) paid $500 for. He and his parents are offended that I wouldn't hire him to be my personal trainer.…
  • For many years I did not eat a thing before my 5 am workouts and was fine. Then one morning I worked out really hard with a trainer and ended up with an ambulance ride to the ER because I passed out in the change room. Diagnosis - low blood sugar from not eating before my workout. Now I have a protein shake 45 to 60…
  • There are millions of people who are "skinny fat".....skinny on the outside, fat on the inside. Personally I think that people like us (e.g. folks who have to watch what they eat and exercise in order to achieve or maintain a healthy lifestyle) are better off in the long run. We are certainly probably healthier than…
  • ^^This!
  • In my opinion, yes! If I'm working out I want to know that I'm in the "yellow zone" (80-90% max heart rate) most of the time. I'm not going to waste time working out if I'm not going hard enough. The fact that I know approx how many calories I've burned is an added bonus. I love my Polar FT4!
  • I think the person who is losing 1 lb a day would probably weigh 380 lbs, not the 180 that you do. If you're disappointed that you're not losing anything after three days then you're not being realistic. You said that you lost 5" off your stomach area.....heck, I'd be thrilled if I lost 5" from my waist but no pounds on…
  • I'm sending you a friend request too! I love dogs, we have 3 rescue dogs and 4 rescued cats. I love all animals!
  • First let me say that I checked out your profile and you are an INSPIRATION to anyone who is "tired of being the fat guy". You have done a truly amazing job in the past year!!! I too am freaking stuck! I lost 50 lbs in my first year (2010), kept it off for 2 years, then gained back 10 after I broke my wrist last July. Even…
  • Yes, I am using 15%.
  • ^^^ He and others convinced me to try it last week, so I am going to until the end of May and see what happens. It's hard to wrap my head around it after doing MFP 1200/day for the past 3+ years, but I'm convinced it will work!
  • Kettlebell workouts, bootcamp workouts. Big time cardio but no running, elliptical, etc. Both are great total body conditioning workouts.
  • -What was your starting weight? 199 -What's your target? 145 -What are you now? 158 (was down to 147 after first year, kept it at 150 for over a year, gained back 10 in past year by letting old bad habits creep back in) -How many calories/day do you consume? 1800, do not eat back exercise calories (just changed this week…
