We have also used the Optimum Nutrition (in French Vanilla Creme) and my husband loves it. I have since moved on to Vega One Chocolate (for the 6 servings of greens per shake) and my whole family loves it when mixed with Almond Milk and half a frozen banana. It's nice and chocolatey but I'm not going to lie, it does have a…

I really enjoyed the book but sadly only made it 17 days into my Whole30 last summer. I made the mistake of stepping on the scale and seeing only a pound loss and jumped ship. I think I will try it again some day! For me, personally it was pretty difficult as it was summer and everyone was home with me. I think it would be…

We have bought beef in bulk for the last few years. We do not buy certified grass fed but the cow that our meet comes from is raised on a farm next to a family member and they are out there eating in the fields all day long. I like knowing where it comes from at least. We have the cow processed at a plant nearby. We get to…

I didn't check on vit D. Is anyone else overwhelmed by how much there is to consider?

Thanks for the input! I never believed that starting meds would be a miraculous weight loss on its own. I am currently wearing a body media fit and charting my calories burned, steps, calories in, deficit, etc and even though I'm honest in my logging and averaging over 500+ calories a day deficit I am not seeing a budge. I…

How long does it usually take to start seeing some symptoms improve. OK, let's face it I am really hoping the scale will budge. I will be happy to see all symptoms improve but that is a concrete number rather than trying to judge how I feel.

Loved doing TRX and bootcamp at the gym. Now that I've been working out more at home I actually enjoy Supreme90 Day dvds. They are a good workout (you get out what you put in to them) and not as long as the P90X workouts which I like since I have to be finished and ready to get kids moving by 6am. They are also super…

The book The New Rules of Lifting for Women is a good place to start. (There is also a group on MFP for any questions that pop up.) I'd recommend booking a session with a trainer to take you through the routine and make sure that you are doing things correctly to get you started. Good luck!

I ended up with major PF last year while training for a half-marathon. I was committed to the race as I was doing it with a friend and ran through the pain. Not smart. Even though I iced and stretched I ended up at the podiatrist. I wore a stretching boot a few times a day, had a steroid shot in the heel (ouch) that really…

I got my BF% from measurements and online calculator. I have just committed to cleaning up my diet. I was measuring everything but only weighing things like meat/nuts/pasta. I will definitely start weighing my more calorie dense things like almond butter. I have a hard time and tend to get obsessive when I'm really working…

Katch is 1401 1.1 cals/min while sleeping x1440=1584 1.1 cals/min also while sitting and reading Exercise I am doing right now consist of Supreme 90 Day (circuit with weights some days, Tabata day, cardio day etc.), walking the dogs each day, etc. I am more active than I thought with maybe one day a week under 10,000…

Thanks everyone!! I appreciate the help!! I understand now!

Thanks! I have managed to get my armband linked with my iphone so that is something! Not the most technological person here! Thank you!

Sorry, but I'm still confused so bumping..

I have no great advice and nothing to add except I'm sorry! I'm right there with you! Just turned 39 in Feb. close in measurements. I just ordered a Bodymedia Fit which should arrive on Monday and am hoping it will help me to be a bit more accurate on numbers. I just wanted to say that I completely understand how you are…

I have seen a similar video and really try to do my best. I don't know what the right answer is. I think it is about finding balance. I do want to teach them what is healthy and not especially in this super-sized world. I also realize that kids are all different too. I have one who has little interest in food and only eats…

Thanks for the advice! I have always struggled with being quite controlling of my kids food choices since I don't want them to go through a lifetime of self-consciousness like me. I am frankly a downer when they are wanting to go out for ice cream etc and I veto it. (Not that we never do it because I know that backfires…

Will do! Thanks! I'm assuming that it's ok to not NET my BMR then.

Thanks for the input! The days from the first week of January thru mid february I was logging on another app as I was doing WW. I would have to relog all of that into MFP and just don't have the time for that! :) I did log meals etc. here and there to try to get a handle on how points and calories compared to each other. I…

That's how I was when I started. Literally couldn't get past the end of the block without needing a break. And l had been doing combat classes, bootcamp etc. Running is different. I started on the treadmill and started slow. The treadmill helps you learn to pace for one thing and made it easier to push myself just a little…

BUMP please... and Thanks rgrin... we have always tried to focus on the "healthy" aspect. I compliment her on how strong she is and how much she can do rather than whether she's skinny or not. We do 5ks together, 20mi bike rides, etc and try to make being active our lifestyle once this Illinois winter is over! I appreciate…

Correction to answer about cheat days... After my day today I realized that in all honesty I actually do have an unplanned cheat day every three weeks or so. Not a crazy day, but a day like today where I am 400 over (thanks to trying to fight a craving with something other than what I really wanted and still ending up…

PS-- I'm either lifting really right or really wrong because on a lifting day like today I am Wiped out! (Like just had my feet on the dashboard and seat back in the school pickup line because I could fall asleep!)

I started lifting the first week of February following a program from muscleandstrength.com. It was one I could do at home but as I'm trying to lift as heavy as possible and just using dumbbells grip became an issue and I needed to move up to barbells. I am now doing something else I found that has taken me out of my…

We have the Select Techs and love them. We got them 5+ years ago at a "Play It Again Sports" store at a nice discount. I'm not sure if those stores are still around. Ours came with the stand as well which I LOVE because we don't have to bend down and pick them up off the floor each time.

As much as I hate to do it, I am going to try to cut the lifting to 2x and will still run 3x. I WISH I could just get rid of the running but am already committed to my friend for this last race. After April I will focus on the lifting without the cardio. I do think my calories are pretty good. I'm 39 yo and waffle between…

Thanks so much for the input! I will reread the Nutrition section of the book. I am committed to running the race with a friend. We signed up prior to me starting NROL4W. I didn't think it would make much difference as it is so much less running than when we did the half-marathon last year. I don't even really consider…

If anything, eating a bit more. I'm eating close to 1800 calories on workout days (which is 6 days/week). I may just be a weirdo. All I know is that even as I sit here now, my eyes are just burning and squinty as they want to sleep. Glad you are feeling so great!

I have used this to help use the fitbit to figure out activity level... 1. Sedentary (Inactive) Pedometer steps = less than 5,000 steps a day This is equivalent to getting less than 150 minutes of exercise per week, or less than the minimum amount of exercise recommended for all adults. How to increase your steps. 2. Low…

Chocolate Banana "ice cream." I slice a banana and put it in a ziplock bag to freeze. Take it out and put it in bullet cup. Add .5T cocoa powder and a splash of almond milk to get it moving in the Magic Bullet until creamy. YUM!
