  • Changes in diet can show up in skin and mood. While it's not likely a "detox", it may be that your body is just adjusting to the new kind of food (especially if you made a change quickly and used to eat lots of processed foods). It's also possible that you're just having some non-TOM related hormone swings. If these stick…
  • THIS!!! I know that some of the excess weight I have is fat, but A LOT of it is fluid retention. My dad has the same issue. For him, it's a diagnosed autoimmune disorder...for me, no diagnosis at this point (just treating the symptoms). You may want to try some non-traditional practitioners--that's the only way I've had…
  • McDonald's does have beans now that you can buy at the grocery store. I'm not a McD's fan, though. I <3 Stone Creek Coffee--it's from Milwaukee (WI). I found one this holiday season called "Santa's Revenge"...it's incredible! Very dark, and very smooth!
  • I normally hang my jeans to dry so they don't shrink. However, it sounds like yours could use a little shrinking. Maybe stick them in the dryer and see if that helps? Also, I find that different brands all fit differently. Try a bunch on and see what you love! If you want cheap jeans, Walmart (which I hate) has Riders…
  • Homemade burgers (90% fat free, no bun) with siracha mayo and baked french fries. It'll be decadent and delicious...and well deserved after not having time to eat lunch basically all week...
  • "Duh...can you see Florida?"
  • I have to eat something on the way to work...typically a granola bar and coffee. However, I also have a Greek Yogurt when I get to work. Yum!
  • I'm not sure about Christmas Eve--I'll be with my boyfriend's family. Christmas Day, however, is with my family. Throughout the day, we typically have snacky food out to munch on: Cheese/Sausage Fruit Nuts Cookies Veggies, Etc. Dinner will be amazing...I'm looking forward to it: Swedish Meatballs Lingonberries Mashed…
  • A half pound per week would be fast loss in my book! Since you're relatively close to your goal weight, you will likely lose more slowly--that's completely normal. Of course, you can always add in exercise and then eat back some of those calories--that may increase the rate for you a bit.
  • Yes...especially then! Many bodies retain fluid when we don't move around much. It's totally normal to retain water when you're sick, too. Just take care of getting better--not about a 2# weight gain.
  • I really dislike Lululemon--I'm discouraged by their sizing. My sister (maybe a size 10) has to wear their XL--if they even have XL's! I far prefer Athleta, if I'm going for high end items. But honestly, when it comes to athletic wear, my best yoga pants are from Old Navy...they've lasted years and they are completely…
  • I dreamed of pancakes last weekend...my boyfriend and I had them the next morning for breakfast...then my mom, sister and I had them for dinner later this week. I love premonition dreams...and pancakes ;) LOL
  • I don't track most spices (as long as it's under a few teaspoons). I also don't log my supplements--they come out to about 60 calories. I know that can add up, but I can't cut out the supplements, and I eat a bit below my MPF calculations most days anyway. Everything else is logged.
  • Yay! You're losing! I read through your original post and thought, "wow...that sounds a lot like what I'm dealing with." Then I read that you're still losing 1/2# (average) per week and I got a wee bit jealous. ;) I know it's frustrating to lose way less than you expected, but it's something! I have lost nothing in…
  • This was fantastic! Thanks for sharing--it makes me want to try C25K again. I only did a couple days the first time before life got in the way. I'll have to go look for that app, now! @desweds, which app are you using?
  • ::raises hand:: I'm from the Milwaukee area (just a bit West), and I work in Milwaukee. Feel free to add me, if you'd like. Just be sure to include a note with your friend request.
  • I was on Zoloft for years. It was exactly what I needed to help deal with my migraines (it also helped with mild depression). Unfortunately, it did cause weight gain for me. That being said, I wasn't terribly overweight at that time, as well as much younger. I wasn't as worried about it then. FYI: Never go off of meds…
  • Yes, "wheat belly" is certainly a term coined by William Davis, but for some of us with an actual sensitivity, it's an actual thing. I know a lot of people don't believe in gluten sensitivities, but it's very clear to me that I have one. When I dropped gluten from my diet, it was only a matter of a week or two until the…
  • I'm going to a weekend long Halloween Party (which stinks because I really don't like Halloween) thrown out of town by my BF's friends. My BF hates dressing up, but when we went costume-free last year we were teased mercilessly (in good fun, of course). This year I think he and I will go as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah…
  • Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! At a pound a week, it's doable, but will be a lot of work. You'll need to find the right balance of nutrition and exercise to help you lose this in a healthy manner. There's a post that a lot of people here use...something about a "Guide to Sexypants". I'd say start there!…
  • Had mine today--free at work. I hate getting them. I must have minor allergic reactions to them...I always have flu-like symptoms for a week or so afterwards (yes, I understand it's not a live virus so I don't actually have the flu). Even with the reaction, I would rather keep my family safe, so I take the precautions!
  • Doggy Silliness: My dog thinks it's cute to pick up her empty marrow bone and throw it...against the wall (not hard). She so darn cute doing it that I can't stop her! She's really not hurting anything and she has so much fun! SO Silliness: When my BF smiles, his eyes crinkle at the corners...way more than they did when we…
  • I have this issue, too. I bought a Fitbit to get a better idea of how little I actually moved. The results were sobering. Having that Fitbit on my wrist reminds me that I have to get up and get moving more! I also find that drinking tons of water throughout the day gives me two excuses to get up and get moving: 1) I have…
  • I was in a very similar boat. With the thyroid/hormones, "nothing unusual" is kind of a vague term when it comes to most GP's. Mine were "nothing unusual", too. I went to a specialist who tested again and found that my thyroid was within "medically acceptable limits", but on the very low end. My hormones seemed to be fine…
  • Pole fitness--it's the hardest exercise I've ever done. I feel like my arms are dying for a few days afterwards. But I feel powerful and accomplished when I master something! And no, contrary to popular belief, it's not typically a "sexy" exercise (thought it certainly can be when you have a routine down). Most of us look…
  • I love my BF, but he ALWAYS does this "wrong". I have to be super vigilant when we get close to the end of a roll--I cannot stand having it the wrong way. I changed it one time and he laughed at my need to do so (all in good nature). I'm sure someday it's going to cause a full-out argument. ETA: I agree with…
  • I am just getting over a cold with nasty sinus symptoms. I'm super sensitive to Mucinex (makes me dizzy), but I found that Alka Seltzer Cold, Cough and SEVERE Mucus worked wonders. If you're super snotty...make sure to get the one for severe mucus, though--the lesser ones didn't help me much. Feel better!!!
  • Hold on there...how much yogurt do you use with that tablespoon of pudding mix? I think this sounds like a heaven I may have to visit...often... Fage was my first love with greek yogurt--however, it's NEVER on sale where I live and they rarely have anything other than 0% or strawberry. I started eating Chobani and Oikos…
  • That's tricky--something I struggle with regularly, too! When I have my *kitten* together the night before (lol) I like to put together a big salad with lots of veggies, lean meat, low-fat cheese, etc. I'm not a huge fan of croutons or the other topper things, so that helps to reduce calories. I have a great reusable…
  • Yes...I've been having issues with this for years. However, I'm working with health care professionals to try to find ways to work around this. It's terribly hard, that's for sure, but it's doable. I've had luck in the past, even though right now I'm doing quite poorly. Keep in mind that each hormonal imbalance is slightly…
