I like that I have broad shoulders, and that they're finally wider than my hips, even though I have some belly fat left to burn. Stupid stubborn love handles. I dislike how big my calves are though.

Bumping this because I love running and seeing newborn runners. To be honest, motivation is easy to find. It's easy to wake up and see a poster on your wall that gives you that little kick to get out and run, but the thing that will keep you up and moving is Dedication. Dedication to your ultimate goal, and dedication to…

To everyone who's replied and friended me: Thanks for the great feedback, I'm glad to see that there are other enthusiasts out there that truly find the joy in running as much as I do. It's strange that such a simple thing can become a main staple in our everyday lives, to the point where it becomes something we truly…

I literally said "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!" outloud, then showed my roommate and he had the exact same reaction. Good work! Lookin fine :)

Running is one of the best things anyone can ever do for themselves. It's great stress relief, amazing for your heart, and is an awesome hobby to have. Always good to see a newborn runner born! Congrats, and keep it up!

Looks like it's time to get a smaller shirt, man.

Showin some respect for another member of the 50s club, you're looking great. Congrats

Start date was April 5th 2011 at approx 300-315lbs. Current weight today is 225. Goal is 200ish, or until whenever I'm happy when I look in the mirror. It does take time, but when I bought my first large shirt and fit into it better than I used to fit into the 2XLs I used to buy, all I could do was smile

I'm in!

For me, it takes about 3 weeks of hard lifting and high protein to build 1 pound of muscle.

I had a weird occurrence happen that's related to your topic, Kohadre, A relationship I was in ended rather badly and abruptly, on account of her being a lying, cheating... well, you can guess the words I'm looking for. Anyway, very beautiful girl, and very fit. One year later to the day, I've lost about 70 pounds and am…

Glad to see you're off and running with it, keep it up! I can tell you from experience that it does melt away pretty fast at first, but you have to be careful - That's why a lot of people rebound. They melt off the quick 15-20lbs and think "Good enough" but then don't realize that it can go back on just as quickly that…

You can definitely see a difference, great job! Keep it up!

This may be a dumb response, but I've been lucky enough to not have been seriously hurt yet, so here goes: How about swimming? Do you have access to a pool? I realize it's not the same, but any cardio is better than none, amirite?

Don't look at it as a new beginning, look at it as the next chapter! Call this one "Being Awesome" Welcome :) hope you stick with it
-
Welcome, hope you stick with it. And yeah, especially if you're new at it, the weight will melt off at first, especially if combined with a little moderate cardio.

Oh man, this is gonna be a tough thing to chronicle. I gave up: Smoking Beer All fast food Regular pop Ice cream Candy bars Most red meat Hot dogs Processed food (Hot pockets, microwave meals) Chips Chocolate Cookies Ice cream Pudding Refined flour products (White bread) Refined peanut butter Jelly Syrup Rum Fried food…

Good to meet you, glad that you're deciding to get on track with everything. It's true, a lot of the stories you'll read here will be great motivators, and feel good success stories, but if you decide to stick with it, remember this: Motivation may get you off your butt, but it's Dedication that keeps you off it. Good luck…

Haha, also a good choice, gotta mix it up!

Thanks everyone for all your kind words, it's been an awesome journey so far
-
Haha thanks! You don't know how weird it is reading that =P

To be honest I have a different answer for everyone, but it's rarely true.. I don't really know what my motivation was. If you asked me the day I put my old running shoes on, I still couldn't tell you.

Initially, I was just one of the guys that showed up to the gym and goofed off for an hour, not really knowing at all what I was doing. But after reading up on some things, particularly a link a friend gave me: http://www.liamrosen.com/fitness.html then I started getting it. I did the "Couch-to-5k" program, then after I…

Great story, and the pics show how you go from a pretty yet overweight girl to a truly beautiful, healthy one. Thanks for sharing!

80 pounds is an astounding amount to lose, especially considering you did it while they sat there and watched! Seriously, well done! I'll keep an eye on ya, seeing other people's great progress is a good heart warmer in the cold mornings before work.

To be honest, your best bet is to set the activity level to "Sedentary" to be safe. A lot of people overestimate their activity levels, because it's a lifestyle that they're used to, and besides: If the MFP calc assumes you're sedentary, there's little chance you'll underestimate calorie intake.
