  • How's your healthy journey been going? The most success I've had with weight loss came with a monotonous diet I'm afraid. A lot of eggs, oatmeal, greek yogurt, and well seasoned chicken breast.
  • Because I can follow the thought process behind it. It seems like a diet I can follow reliably and that will help me develop healthier habits.
  • It doesn't exactly bother me, but I was definitely alarmed the first few times I saw people using the term.
  • I try to stick with eating back half of my exercise calories to be safe. Some days I don't eat any of them back, though, because I just don't get hungry. As long as you feel well and not sick or hungry or anything, there shouldn't be any harm in not eating them back to boost weight loss.
  • I started with the same goal, but after a few months I finally admitted it wasn't working. Building muscle takes calorie surplus, losing fat takes a deficit. What gets doubly frustrating is having to strength train on a deficit to just to keep from LOSING muscle. Lately I've just been concentrating on losing fat, and am…
  • I bought a really nice, small, nonstick pan with a lid. It's just perfect for eggs, of which I eat many.
  • Potatoes. I just love them in every shape and form. I can't even keep any around because I could eat 5 pounds of them in a day. :)
  • Well you're off to a good start! I've found just staying active on the message boards here helps a lot. I had some problems with purging for a while, but I just try to keep in the mindset of "food is fuel." Trying to keep a positive mindset about eating and nutrition really helps me keep on track, and reminding myself that…
  • Between 1300 and 1700 depending on how active I've been. I usually eat Kashi for breakfast, eggs for lunch, and a lot of carrots and zucchini. Also Quest bars for stacks. I try to mix up dinner so I at least have some variety.
  • Is it aspartame you're sensitive to, or all artificial sweeteners? Diet Rite brand sodas are sweetened with splenda, they're the only sodas I still drink. Otherwise everyone elses suggesestions: water, unsweet tea, maybe add lime or lemon.
  • Kashi go lean with almond milk with an apple or clementine usually. Sometimes I'll load up the blender for a smoothie the night before and stick it in the fridge. Just have to pop it on the base and blend in the morning!
  • Just started Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill. Nice and creepy so far. Torn between Horns or rereading The Study Series next.
  • Got my charge HR a few days ago! Really looking for ways to best utilize it's awesome features.
  • I had the zip for a while and loved it. Got my charge HR a few days ago and can't believe I functioned without it! No issues. Aside from the obvious monitoring awesomeness, I love the silent alarm.
  • Yup Quest. I think they taste amazing. High protein and fiber, low sugar and net carbs. No real junk ingredients. The only downside is that they're kind of pricey.
  • I just got a fitbit HR last week. We can't wear anything on our wrists at work either, so I keep it in my pocket and turn off the HR monitoring while I'm there. I wore a pedometer for the first two days to compare, and it seems to still track steps and stairs accurately in your pocket.
  • Nah, as long as you're on a calorie deficit then you'll lose. I know some people who swear by low carb, but it's more about satisfying meals. Cutting out simple carbs means your meals will be more filling and nutritious probably, and you crave carbs less I've heard.
  • I know that feeling :). I refuse to go running because I can feel my gut bouncing around so much.
  • I've eaten pizza for breakfast and dinner the past two days :/ Also sometimes I buy whole bags of candy, then get really mad at myself halfway through and flush the rest so I know I won't eat it. Also my profile pic is from like 5 months ago and I'm too ashamed of my gain back to upload a new one.
  • I like to use it in desserts, but that's about it for cooking. It's essentially just another oil nutritionally, though. It's GREAT for your skin topically, however. I use it every day after I shower.
  • Thanks! That was really helpful. I honestly just bought it to help me get back on track with working out after a few bad months, fitness wise. I figured one intense month would help me get back on track and get back into my healthy habits. I definitely won't be taking them longer for a month, though.
  • What's with all the candy corn hate? BEST: Candy corn, I freaking love the stuff. Also anything chocolate, or Reeses WORST: Religious pamplets for sure, also mints or any of that waxy cheap fake chocolate.
  • In all honesty we find some reason to judge most everyone in an effort to feel better about ourselves. I do see your point though. I think the worst thing is unrelated to their weight. It's their impatience. I understand eating an obscene amount of food on my own, It's happened more times than I'd care to admit. But people…
  • Lawd a wedding cake? That's not even just a binge that's just freaking expensive. I used to buy those gallon tubs of sherbert. I'd get one of each flavor and finish them in one weekend. It wasn't as bad cause sherbert is healthier than ice cream...right? At least that was my justification.
  • I work drive thru often and we do judge people for ordering a lot of food, but 3 or 4 entrees and a side are nothing. I'm talking about the people who get 2 family packs and eat it by themselves. 24 cinnabons at once. 3 burritos with beef, chicken, steak, AND bacon. Sometimes we have to tell people to take stuff off their…
  • I used to eat entire family sized bags of chips w/ candy every day. The fattest thing I can think of though, was when I was in college. My roommate was gone for the weekend so I got 5 arby melts with 2 large fries, like $20 worth of Taco Bell, and then bought some 3 pizza lunchables with a couple family bags of chips and a…
  • Black tea has fairly high caffeine content. If you need caffeine that much, though, why not just buy pills? They sell 100 mg caffeine tablets pretty much everywhere for cheap.
  • Tuna (fish in general too) and celery.
  • I found one for Ginger Carrot soup a few months back, I love it and it's crazy simple. 1 lb carrots 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth tablespoon onion powder teaspoon ginger tablespoon olive oil teaspoon black pepper 4 oz plain greek yogurt ( or sour cream if you're not a yogurt fan) salt to taste Bring the carrots to boil…
