  • Hi Here Comes Summer group... May I join? What do we do? I am 21 and recently had my 4th knee surgery (Dec), so I am up to bike and elliptical but miss my running a lot (and running body!!). I want in! Thanks!
  • www.marathonmagic.com is a really fun and funny ebook for beginners that addresses anything you will encounter while beginning to run! Bodily, mentally, physically... good luck!
  • www.marathonmagic.com is great for beginners too!
  • What is the website that everyone has gone to to create the before body and after body??? I wanna do it!
  • a really fun, but good resource for beginner marathoners is www.marathonmagic.com . Teddy, the author, is hilarious!!
  • there is also another product that allows you to wear other shoes with the nike foot pod and it is called a lace lid. It comes in white or black, usually sold at your local running specialty store and is a rubber cover for the lid that ties into your laces. good luck :)
  • that is a really good price and spinning is one of the most efficient ways to burn calories! :)
  • When the surgeon went into the knee, he found that he needed to repair the meniscus in addition to the ACL, and thus, no bending for a couple weeks so no machine! I wish! I've heard those are great. Thanks for the advice anyways! Happy New Years' to all, from my couch :)
  • those are great ideas--and thanks for being able to relate kristine! I got ACL/meniscus surgery yesterday and they took the graft from my other (good) knee. It is my third acl on my left knee! So, I will be not weight-bearing for six weeks on my left, and no running for at least four months :( I'm trying to stay…
  • thanks for the tips! If you think of any others, let me know. I had a friend just write me an email that this can be like my new "marathon" consisting of physical therapy and healthy mental/eating practices!!! I like this idea...
  • thanks! I have done pilates in the past during recovery, that was really great. I will make up a plan for myself...
  • Hi all, I'm a sporadic user of MFP but I am back needing you guys because I'm getting knee surgery tomorrow on BOTH KNEES! I am very active ordinarily--a runner--and i've had a few before and it is definitely some of the most depressing times in my life! But my real dilemma is the eating part--it is hard for me to go from…
  • rather than eating your breakfast before you workout, I've found success making a protein shake with a teaspoon or two of instant coffee mixed into it--you get the energy you need from the shake which is a lot easier to digest prior to the workout, plus some caffeine to get you out the door! Good luck.
  • haha so everyone forgot about the weigh-in...start tomorow? deal.
  • sounds good.
  • should we have weigh-in days??
  • 6th...Madeline...142....137....five more! I don't participate much in these posts--just read them, but I will join this! I have knee surgery coming up on Dec. 23, so i'd like to work hard until then. Thanks and let's do this! Good luck.
  • i would not go to the party--tell him it makes you uncomfortable, and he should start getting the message!
  • well, it would make sense that a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat...and a pound of feathers or bricks would all weigh the same too.......... BUT, muscle is more dense than fat like you said, so a certain mass of muscle would weigh more than fat, yes. I would get your body fat tested and see what the…
  • me too. mwf 530-630am.
  • Anyone done it? Awesome.
  • bob's the stud!
  • honestly, SM.....I thought you were going to say a race!!!! but way to go anyways!! haha. M
  • the oil separation is natural....i am a peanut butter addict and i've never seen it go bad. Although I eat probably a jar every week and a half so....
  • i liked it, it tastes like peanut butter frosting.... it has less calories but i ate it just as much!! (i was trying to find a healthier substitute because I eat pb non-stop....) Nice idea to try, expensive sort of. I really like Honey Soy-nut butter by I.M. Healthy as a pb substitute. and almond butter.
  • i asked a friend who used to run track how to warm up and he said by doing a 400 or 800 (once or twice around the track) and stretching as well as some long strides. I biked the 1.5 miles to the track and slowly ran a 400 and stretched then did the mile (4x around the track) I definitely wanted to die on the last 400 but…
  • hey guys, i'm not a regular mfp poster, but maybe i will more--i was training for chicago but started too early after my surgery and stopped last week--i am going to run columbus half instead! i'd like to beat my 96 minute time but i have a long way to go after knee surgery! anyways, have you guys ever tested your one mile…
  • it makes me too excited to eat the rest of the day!
