  • Have a boiled egg or low-fat homemade Greek yogurt. Usually when I’m really hungry it helps to eat protein
  • And I resorted to McDonald's for lunch today. I was in a hurry, it was fast and easy and used up my daily calorie budget.
  • I was really inconsistent with tracking over the holidays. Initially lost 3 lbs and then gained it all back after returning from Christmas.
  • CICO. And fewer carbs, more protein and fat. But mostly CICO.
  • 1. Don't assume anything, wait until you talk to your doctor and get results of blood tests. Could be PCOS, could be vitamin deficiency, could be reaction to something you are using cosmetically. For example I had significant hair loss after perms ("back in the day") and hair coloring. 2. Hair loss is not normally part of…
  • Please also be alert for the tendency to eat back too many calories. I always find myself doing this when I start a new exercise regime. I overestimate calories burned and underestimate what I eat, because "I've earned it". Water retention is also a real thing, but if you notice you still aren't dropping weight after…
  • I haven't tried a bunch of different options, so I can't say which is "best". I have a Paderno Spiralizer that I'm very happy with - it comes apart for cleaning, it folds together for tidy storage and it has a compartment to hold multiple spiralizer blades.
  • I am experimenting with a "spiralizer" and tried a recipe that uses spiralized sweet potato with chicken and spices for a sort of tortilla-less fajita. I and my husband rather liked it: Foil-Pouch Sweet Potato Noodle Chicken Fajitas http://inspiralized.com/foil-pouch-sweet-potato-noodle-chicken-fajitas/
  • In general recommendations are to rinse meat prior to cooking. I assume it's to reduce bacteria. Also, chicken livers can be kind of bloody, so rinsing is helpful. I suppose it's up to your discretion. I am not an expert so I won't comment on toxins. Numerous sources say that it's healthy and that works for me.
  • I had it for 10 years - miserable!! When I first got it (both feet, severe) I went to a podiatrist and got custom orthotics. that I then wore for all 10 years. When I first got fasciitis I also got steroid shots in my heels. That helped ease some of the severe inflammation, but it didn't go away entirely. Rolling my feet…
  • Your question is probably already answered, but I'd like to let you know my personal experience. My years of running certainly helped build leg muscles, and adding incline will definitely help. But I haven't noticed much difference in the inner thighs. I see the greatest difference in my front thighs, calves and glutes…
  • I use it in my smoothies because of the lower calories compared to milk. I also drink it straight in small amounts, I rather like the flavor. I do not like it with cereal for some reason - seems to glutinous. I also just recently realized the protein content was low and decided to try vanilla light soy milk to increase…
  • I still eat sushi, rolls, etc. occasionally, but it's good to hear there are lower-carb versions. This sounds tasty, I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
  • The author clearly didn't talk to MFP users, otherwise they would have plenty of examples of people successfully losing weight and maintaining. This article is misleadingly narrow in scope.
  • Also - early on I kept singing the "Just keep swimming" song from Finding Nemo. It kept me going when I was really struggling to get started.
  • I've been going off the rails since last summer with unintended Maintenance. Maybe it will help to remind me what I did early on... * Chewing sugar free gum seems to help when I'm bored at work on the computer. I have a problems with snacking. Still struggling with it when I'm at home. * Also drinking Crystal Light…
  • I eat much less pastries, bread, candy, pasta. That used to be the majority of my food intake, now it's a much smaller percentage. I try to eat more protein and fat to stay full with my allotted calories
  • Relying on habits, not motivation. It's easy to get tired, stressed or complacent and lose motivation over time. But if you establish habits around logging, watching portions and macros, staying active, you can keep moving forward. Habit is the most powerful force, you can either maintain bad habits or establish supportive…
  • My triglycerides were initially high ( multiple hood draws). I lost 45 lbs. using MFP and my triglyceride levels are now normal, as well as cholesterol ( had been intermediate high) and blood glucose ( had also been trending high). Hope that helps.
  • 6 miles ran on Sunday, for a total of 22 miles last week. Very sore today!
  • Way to go! Losing weight during football season is so hard with all the game day snacks and drinks, so congratulations. Regarding exercise in cold weather - the only answer I found was buying a treadmill. Now I have no excuses. Otherwise I just hibernate in the winter.
  • That's great! Run clubs are a great way to stay motivated and have fun when running.
  • I ran 6.5 miles with the local run club today! I usually run 4 miles, so this was a real stretch. Averaged 11 minutes/mile so I'm feeling pretty happy about it. It's been about 25 years since I ran 6 miles.
  • I use smaller plates, bowls and cups. These have gotten bigger over the years, especially in the U.S., leading to more overeating. Works well to regulate appetite.
  • I was getting headaches and ringing ears (tinnitus) from some protein powders. Not from normal fruits and veg though.
  • There's no way I can fit movie snacks into my calorie budget, so I've just convinced myself they are not for me. I don't even look at them when I go in (which can be tough now that many theaters make you buy your tickets at the snack counter...tricky marketing!) I often eat lunch or dinner just before going so I control my…
  • I've been trying to figure this out, so good question! I didn't record my weight for a long time prior to starting weight loss ( one reason I gained!). I am currently 155 after losing 45. I think last time I was this weight was 2002? So 13 years. But I'm more fit now - I'm running 6 miles now instead of 3 miles back then.…
  • My jawline and neck, now that they've finally emerged from the pillow of fat
  • My German co-workers have gained weight since moving the the U.S. a few years ago. In their case it has nothing to do with prosperity (certainly equally prosperous in Germany). All to do with the types and quantity of food here.
