  • I am in the same boat, newly back to work mom with no time to work out! For dinners we've started cooking only on two week nights and having leftovers the other weeknights. That's been helpful, but requires cooking extra when we do cook (usually about 4 nights a week total). Since I don't have the time or energy for…
  • Well, I guess water retention really IS a thing... Perhaps flying made it worse than usual since I'm pregnant? Since getting back from vacation I've "lost" 4 lbs, making 1st trimester gain much more reasonable about 3 lbs. Yay!!!
  • I pretty much maintained through the first 10 weeks, but at 13 weeks I've gained 7 pounds, yikes. I blame vacation... I hope that now that I am feeling better and am going to start exercising and eating a normal diet again I'll keep the rest of the weight gain under control. I'm hoping to keep total weight gain under 25…
  • 13 weeks + change here! Due mid-January. 34 y/o, ftm. So excited to be nearly through with 1st trimester!!!
  • Hi raqufern! Another mom expecting a 2016 baby! I'm 34 (also 5'3!) and 7 weeks along, expecting my first. So far I haven't been eating as healthy as usual, mostly because nothing sounds good and then everything I eat makes me feel sick (thank you, pregnancy) so hopefully it evens out, lol! Welcome & congrats!

  • Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! So exciting! My advice: 1. Don't let MFP (myfitnesspal) choose how many calories you should eat by how much weight you ultimately want to lose. Instead, use MFP to find out an estimate of how many calories you need to "maintain" your current weight. This number will be useful for…
  • Sounds like a good idea to me! I might do maintenance as well...
  • My favorite recipe: 2 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp shredded unsweetened coconut, 1/2 cup almond milk. But you need to let it sit (in the fridge) for hours, preferably overnight. Some of it will clump, so before you eat you have to kind of mix it up a bit. I heat it in the microwave and add a shake or two of nutmeg before eating…
  • One of my favorite recipes is Mashed Cauliflower. 1. Steam a bag of frozen cauliflower (10-14 oz?). 2. In a food processor, blend together steamed cauliflower, 1 oz of cream cheese, and 1 oz of mild cheese (I use havarti slices) until creamy. 3. Voila - add salt & pepper to taste. These cheeses add richness without making…
  • Hi Sahithya - I like that you have your weight loss goals in phases. I also set a smaller goal for my first weight loss goal (150), and then once I met it I set a new goal (145), and now I'm working toward my 3rd goal (140). Good luck with phase 1, you can do it!
  • Way to go in making healthier choices! What is a healthy diet for me? I'm becoming a big believer in eating lots of calories, haha! I have a hard time with significant food restrictions (in my experience they have often backfired), so when I started with MFP in July I gave myself a small calorie deficit (150-200 calories I…
  • Aw, thanks ladies! Everytime I eat another persimmon (one a day) I pat myself on the back again, lol. Persimmons are better than candy in my opinion!
  • That looks like a great breakfast! I especially love that you had a salad with your meal. I try to incorporate veggies into each meal, but it doesn't always happen at breakfast time. This morning I had brunch with a friend, so I had a delicious spinach and bacon (and cheese!) omelette. Yum.
  • Hi! I'm 33 and have been 10-20 lb overweight for my whole adult life. It's funny how a number that seems so small can still feel overwhelming to try to lose! Over the last year my weight had been creeping up again, so in July (at 159) I decided to give MFP a try. I was a little nervous about tracking everything I ate, not…
  • Hey hipsdontlie - it's my first too! Yay! And May 7th is a great due date (I'm a May 8th baby myself). Sparacka - I've also been doing LCHF, though I've also been eating a few more carbs lately...(I keep wanting to eat ALL the peaches!). How's the maintenance going for you? Over the last few weeks I've been eating a ton…
  • Thanks mormonmomma - I didn't think of that. Will run it by dr at next appt for sure! In case anyone else has a similar problem, I just found this video which also discusses the problem and how to treat it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGymDSXHFqM
  • I feel you on the reading thing. For weeks 3 thru 5 I basically couldn't stop reading everything. And then I finally started to get burned out. And then somehow I managed to trick my husband into reading a pregnancy book (Bumpology) and that's been a nice solution. :)
  • hehehe, thanks Lelah!
  • mkivanoff - congrats on the weight loss, and the pregnancy!! We're due around the same time. Is this your first pregnancy? (It's mine, so I have no idea what to expect!)
  • Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try that out!
  • Hey ladies, welcome and congrats! ajpcv, I haven't been swimming yet but I am thinking of swimming and/or water aerobics later in my pregnancy...for now I'm jogging/biking as long as I can. My doctor said I can continue doing the same level of exercise that I was doing when I got pregnant, so... but I still feel nervous…
  • Aw, thanks janetay! Maybe I'll be lucky...I just never expected I would be because I have terrible cramps with my periods, lol. And congrats lady -- just a few more months to go! So excited for you! :)
  • I've got my peppermint and ginger teas on hand, ready to go. I bought some crackers the other day, and I have some ginger mints in my bag at all times. But 6 weeks 2 days, still no nausea. I'm actually getting more nervous, like maybe I'm not feeling anything because something is wrong with my pregnancy. Or maybe all of a…
  • Congrats! I'm due the 18th of May. I know what you mean - I just started losing weight and now I'm a little worried about gaining it back. I'd really like to keep the gain under 20 lbs if possible...but this is my first pregnancy so a whole new world. I'm only 6 weeks and haven't had morning sickness yet, so my opinion…
  • Welcome, and congrats!! :)
  • Yay, more May mommas! Lovebig - congrats and happy thoughts for #3. :) I am also starting to sleep 8-9 hours! Will that last the whole pregnancy I wonder...? Bananas - I have a May birthday too (May 8th)! I'm hitting 6 weeks tomorrow so I'm expecting morning sickness to kick in sometime soon. Any tips for dealing with the…
  • Wow, 35 miles per week -- way to go! Good luck with the morning sickness. :/
  • I typically have some artificial sweeteners every day. Yesterday though I read about some preliminary research suggesting that artificial sweeteners change the bacteria in your gut...it made me nervous. I'll probably still use artificial sweeteners, but I think I'm going to cut back just a bit.
  • Hi jaybreech, we are nearly due date twins (my EDD is the 18th of may). Congrats on the upcoming wedding!!! Wow, 2 big milestones! I am also hoping I can gain as little as possible. I'd love to gain no more than 15. We shall see....
  • Yay, another May mom! And wow, #5! You go girl! I am the 4th of 5 myself. :) Have you been active for all of your pregnancies? I also want to stay in fairly good shape so that after my pregnancy I can get back to where I left off. I'm just glad that I've been trying to lose weight for 2 months since that has helped me get…
