  • Stuff DOES happen! Life happens! I keep finding myself questioning whether this WOE is truly sustainable for me long term. It feels like it needs to be all or nothing. And I don't think I can do it ALL the time. I do think I can do it most of the time, but occasionally I will want to eat ice cream at the ballpark with my…
  • Check out the low carb and keto message boards here. You will get better help there than from a dietician, in my opinion... It is a very healthy way to eat that cuts your appetite and improves your overall health!
  • Wow! Good for you! Wonderful progress!! Congratulations!
  • So inspiring to those of us in the early phases! Thank you all for sharing!
  • Request made! Thanks!
  • Makes sense. Thank you.
  • I have done low carb, low carb high fat, and/or keto off and on for the past year or so. (More off than on, unfortunately.) But I am on day 3 with my carbs under 20 and so far so good! I feel so much better when I eat this way. I just need to make it a lifestyle instead of something I try to do "sometimes". Best wishes to…
  • Great progress pics! Keep it up because it is DEFINITELY working! And I know how you feel about that nasty scale. My 11 year old (normal size) daughter started crying half the time when she would come out of the bathroom and that was why. She would step on the scale, see it increasing (she's growing!), and hate herself. So…
  • Okay, I love BPC, but I don't have it often because I also love black coffee. I just love COFFEE!! But, I did see a person's post in the LCHF fb group this week, who has lost more than a hundred pounds over the past year, but felt BPC and fat bombs were detrimental to her loss (her loss improved when she quit them). I have…
  • You are also welcomed to check in at the low carb board. Lowering your sugar will automatically lower your carb intake quite a bit. Decreasing grains as well can really be beneficial! Good Luck!
  • I am humbled and grateful that I stumbled upon this group. Every response has been helpful and something I needed to hear. THANK YOU ALL! @Dragonwolf, your post made me tear up. :'( In a good way! It was spot on. I do have some internal work to do that has nothing to do with food. This entire thread has given me lots to…
  • For all you experienced folks, do you think it is better to track macros as a percentage of your calories (how do you decide how many total calories?), or just as x grams of fat, protein, carbs, letting the calories fall where they may... ? If you have your macros all in the right proportions, do calories matter so much?
  • Thank you all so much. This is helpful. I am not new to MFP, but have never utilized the community much before, but I will try to hang around here more. I would be happy to accept any friend requests from other low carbers! @Cheesy567, I have not seen the TED talk, but I will go check it out. Thanks!
  • Your story was just the motivation and inspiration I need right now! My stats are identical to your starting stats, except my age, which is 40! But seeing how wonderful you look at your current weight makes me determined to get there, too! Can you tell me how much exercise you did at the start? Also, do you eat the extra…
  • Welcome! I think you and I have something in common, with the lack of will power... I've been on this site a while now, mostly just on the forums. Haven't been counting my calories or being accountable. As a result, my loss has been pretty much nothing. What a surprise! So, I am also starting fresh. Counting cals and…
  • Congrats! You've done an amazing thing!!!
  • I lost you guys for a while there! Couldn't find this topic for anything! LOL! I will weigh in Monday. Haven't done as well as I should with eating but have been getting much more exercise. I will add the diet component and hope for the best! Hope you are all well!
  • Thank you for the replies! I didn't realize it was in the Women's World mag. Maybe I'll see if that article outlines the "rules" more specifically. I looked at the website that offers an online version to the U.S. but it looks fairly expensive! It does sound a lot like Somersizing. Which also works but can get complicated…
  • Wonderful success!! I've never heard of slimming world but may go check it out... Congrats!!
  • I started out the day doing well yesterday. Even smuggled my own 94% fat free popcorn into the movies... ;) But, sadly ended the day with a small milkshake and a stop at McDonald's... More calories than I intended, needless to say. But, today is a new day and I am planning my food so I won't make that mistake again. Also…
  • I am in! Weighed 176 at last weigh in, so my goal is 166 by Sept. 1! Looking forward to doing it with a great group of "losers"! Good luck everyone! Started off the day with a 15 min bike ride and some crunches. Now to eat some healthy food...
  • I, too, would like to join this challenge! Not sure how the fitness challenges work... I sometimes due workout DVDs instead of biking or walking, but I'm happy to figure it out and get started!
  • I am SO making this today!! Thanks!
  • I am a nurse midwife and whole heartedly agree with the above posts. Ask your doctor to set you up with a nutritionist or a diabetes educator (even if you don't yet have diabetes). They are wonderful resources and can help you! Several simple, yet effective suggestions: Cut out soda and replace it with water. LOTS of…
  • I just sent you a friend request, and then read your post about your son, Noah. What an amazing family you have! So wonderful that you were able to take so much good from such a tragic accident. So glad your little man has healed! Thank you for sharing your story and allowing your son (and yourself!) to be an inspiration…
  • Amazing! Congratulations!! How long have you been working on this weight loss? You are an inspiration!
  • Thank you for your reply. I now have my friend's borrowed wii fit and the kids are playing with it. Hopefully I'll get my chance to check it out soon! It looks like the kids are enjoying it!
  • Day 5 done today. I can definitely tell a big improvement in my endurance. I am still doing it every other day, which is perfect for me. I may start trying some other "milder" exercises on my "off" days.
  • I took one day off and did Day 3 yesterday. I'm much less sore today than after Day 2. I guess that's some progress. I think I am going to try to do this every other day. Otherwise, I'm afraid I will not stick with it at all. Every other day will give me at least 3 workouts per week, which is a lot more than I was doing!…
