  • Thank you for your post! I am currently not doing any strength training, although it is something I have been thinking on and off about. Back about 6 years ago I lost 25lbs, with calorie tracking alone. I then had another baby, and joined a gym and I quite enjoyed the workouts there (Orange Theory) but in these Covid days…
  • Yeah I know what you mean! Back to the last time I lost weight, once I hit my goal I was fairly content with tracking everything to stay in maintenance. I guess the problem I've run into is that I stopped logging somewhere along the line and I have been yo-yo'ing for probably a good year or more now with logging, stopping,…
  • I am seriously going to consider that. Thank you!
  • I think they’re somewhere around 1400 or 1450 (but maybe closer to 1500 - I know about 6 years ago or so I was maintaining on 1600, I’m not sure how many less cals is be burning due to being 6 years older). On average, that’s about what I’m eating and I’ve been stuck at this weight for weeks, I think I’d be gaining if it…
  • Awesome, thank you guys so much for the awesome tips! We do go for walks in the neighborhood, but I’ll try to increase my exercise frequency and cut the order-in’s to less frequently (or just eat less). What a long haul this has been! I honestly figured it would take probably somewhere around the 3 month mark but it’s…
  • Im actually relatively active, I’m a stay at home mom with 4 kids and we do a lot (I actually really like housework so I do quite a bit), however I don’t log any exercise.
  • Ok thank you! Great advice.
  • Yeah I know, I wonder if I should start adding extra calories when we eat out just in case. My activity level is set to sedentary, and it gives me 1210cals/day. But I personally find it mentally easier to eat less than that 6 days a week and then go over once a week and take a “day off” (but still log). Is it possible that…
  • Yes I do. Then only time I don’t weigh is if we order in, which is usually twice a week. Pizza on sundays and usually some other form of take out on Saturday. I do still log what the websites say for calories though.
  • Okay, when I change my goals to .5lb per week it gives me 1360. I feel like it is going to take forever to lose these last few lbs. I'm sure it will help me feel physically better though. Thanks so much everybody.

  • This helps a lot! Thank you! The reminder to eat more fibre and drink more water is good. I have 4 children (12, 10, 6 and 3) so meal planning is my life, lol. I've been having 2 coffee (with 2 tbsp of creamer - I can't give this up) per day lunch, and dinner, and that's basically it. I have had days where I go over 1200,…

  • Calorie goal is 1200, and I think I just selected that I wanted to lose 1lb a week, knowing that I might not hit that. Fortunately I have been losing consistently, it's just mentally a struggle to keep on with these last few lbs even though I know I'll be happier if I do manage to get to that goal.

  • Congrats on your new baby!! I have 4 kids, 11, 9, 6 and 2, and breastfed them all. Breastfeeding can make you incredibly hungry, and not eating enough calories (and drinking enough water) to fuel that milk production can have a negative impact on your milk supply. While I COMPLETELY understand your desire to lose those…
  • Hi ladies, I am in the same boat. I am currently 13 weeks pregnant, and so far have gained 5lbs (we just got back from vacation also, so I think that is part of the reason for the weight gain - I didn't even bother trying to track my calories). I am a little obsessed with how many cals I'm eating, and I know it's not the…
  • I am at my GW (I think), I just want to be sure I can maintain this. Those ring snuggies are brilliant, I think I will look into getting some! Thanks!
  • Oh I'm sure I didn't lose 6lbs of fat in a week. Last Friday I weighed 114lbs. Perhaps I was carrying a lot of water last week so, and this week didn't have much extra so I weighed in "extra" light. I'm probably weighing somewhere in between. Just not sure what to make of the calories (if I should stick to 1350 or up it to…
  • Well, I weighed myself this morning: 108. Not sure what to make of that. I hopped on the scale, it read 109.3 or something, got off and on about 7 additional times and every other time it said 108. something (I never care about what's behind the.). In between those times, my 2yo was also weighing himself,…
  • If you're hungry and you have the calories left, eat them! :) I eat more calories after my kids go to bed (no thievery, ha) then I do from the time I wake up in the morning until dinner, some days. And it hasn't hindered my weight loss at all.
  • Thank you, great info here. :)
  • Don't bother asking your doctor, please. I have heard of doctors FAR too often giving out terrible breastfeeding info/advice. I would see if you can track down a IBCLC (internationally board certified lactation consultant) and see if they can give you any info. It really does depend on how much your little guy is nursing.…

  • Great job on the weight loss! I haven't read all the comments, but just wanted to say that I don't think it's the size of the suit that doesn't fit well, I think it's the *style* of that particular swimsuit bottom. That style doesn't flatter me either, never has, and I'm 114lbs. Maybe one with a fold down waist (like…
  • You now, I have seen that here and there also (about the body just not wanting to lose anymore once it's at a good weight), and wondered about that possibility, but I have no idea if it's a myth or what. If anyone has any insight on that I would love to hear it! No criticism taken. I honestly have no idea what my…
  • You know, I've seen that quite a bit lately - is it possible that people on phones or iPads or whatever, just hit the wrong spot and "accidentally" flag someone? Or is it more of a process to do so?
  • Yes, I wish he would get healthier/lose weight. We have children together and a) I want to know that we are both being positive role models in the eating department, especially because one of our kids is a 'larger' child (not necessarily overweight, but could be if he ate terribly), and b) I want him to be around when they…
  • I usually eat back some exercise calories, but not all. Sometimes I don't eat any, it just depends on the day. For exercise I have been running on the treadmill, and my grand total given to me by the treadmill, I believe, is too high. So when I enter it into MFP, it gives me an automatic number of cals (depending on the…
  • Thanks for all the replies :) I was wondering, lets say that my metabolism has slowed due to eating quite low calorie for a couple months now (well, I am assuming that it has). How long would it take for it to get back to 'normal'? In other words, would eating at 1450 for a month be long enough to be able to tell if it's…
  • I agree that it is fantastic you want to exercise more, but if you really want to lose weight you need to count your calories (which means weighing/measuring food) and be at a deficit.
  • Okay thanks! I was just about to edit that to add that when I look for how many calories in an oz of boneless, skinless chicken breast, it doesn't usually specify if it's raw or cooked meat. I will weigh it raw from now on. :)
  • Yes, I am noticing a bit of a difference actually. My waistband is slightly tighter, I'm not sure if it's just bloat or what. Sigh. I guess I will lower my calories again to try and drop a couple more lbs. you're right that on a small frame, even a couple lbs makes a big difference.
  • Well just an update, not sure if I will get any additional feedback here or if I should start a new thread. Anyway, I weighed myself today and once again the scale read 114lbs. So I went back and checked my actual dates, and I havent really lost anything since October 3 when I weighed in at 115. A week later (the 10th), I…
