  • I eat between 1400-1600. I agree with switching it up as mentioned above. I'm going to start a slight carb-calorie cycle again as I had more success on that previously than eating the same consecutively. Currently at a stall so I'm hoping that helps kick my weight loss going again. Currently 5'7" 163lbs so it is super slow…
  • I have sun warrior and wished I would have picked vanilla instead of unflavored. I have to use vanilla almond milk and some stevia and cinnamon to make it ok. Maybe try some small sample packets at a vitamin store before you buy large?
  • Yep, good choice with the liquid form, those tend to actually be stevia!
  • 1. Stevia tastes bitter to some users and if you look at most of the "stevia" brands like truvia, a sugar alcohol is actually the first ingredient. 2. Sugar alcohols can cause diarrhea in some people. 3. I'm surprised people are suggesting a lot of artificial sweeteners. If you want natural, go with coconut palm sugar. It…

  • There are tons of recipes put there for many different flavors, I used a scoop of protein powder, some vanilla extract because I have plain powder, 2 tbs peanut butter, 1 tbs honey, a packet of stevia and some ground flax. Stir together and add little bit of milk until you can roll it together. This made 7 balls and are…
  • I just had this discussion with my diet coach, sometimes I just want to eat junk because I have the calories left. I'm going to try to stick with healthy choices like frozen fruit, nuts, boiled egg or I just made a batch of protein balls and keep them in my freezer. Tea also helps with sweet cravings. Just give yourself a…
  • I just started taking inositol last week so I can't report on anything yet. I also added magnesium supplement and eat 30% carbs. I was on metformin for a short time and didn't like how it made me feel. So far the inositol seems to make my moods better and more energy
  • Metformin can be prescribed for insulin resistance related to PCOS. I'm surprised that it was given to you if you are neither diabetic or have been diagnosed PCOS. I did not like being on it and didn't lose weight on it. There is a supplement called inositol that has similar effects and I am going to try that soon but…

  • Good info to know, thank you! I will try to incorporate both supplements and see what happens!

  • Thanks! I guess my worry with inositol is that I think I read it interferes with birth control. I've had 2 children without much trouble and I don't need anymore! Maybe I will research it some more

  • Chia seed pudding with peanut butter. Some meats that may not be obvious or quite for everyone... Salmon lox or braunschweiger (light version is only 50 Cals per ounce)
  • Does it matter which type of protein? Plant based are digested differently so maybe you would be ok with that? Hemp protein, pea protein, etc
  • You can check out the books by Chris Powell, it explains it pretty well, I'm going to start back on it because I need low carb for my PCOS but a few higher carb days when I lift will give me energy and keep my metabolism going. Good luck! And if people tell you it's only for serious bodybuilders that is false. It's an…
  • Just trying to suggest different things for OP, if you ask me, tofu is disgusting. And I do enjoy what I suggested, I agree the hemp protein on its own isn't good but who would eat it that way. It's up to me to make it good
  • I have the same problem being dairy free trying to get enough protein. I do find hemp protein helpful though not the best tasting but it can be masked. I also try to get nut or flax milk with extra protein, every bit counts! Another snack Is making chia pudding with the 2x protein milk and adding peanut butter.
  • Some people eat low carb for certain conditions. I do it for PCOS and the calories DO matter via the source for me. Everyone is different
  • Oops, do you take anything for your PCOS? Supplements? Meds?
  • Agree with what others said... Your macros are important for pcos. Watch your carb intake and up the protein. May I even suggest carb cycling? It keeps your body guessing and can help with plateau. Someone else mentioned eating more some days so this makes sense to make a higher carb day when you need the energy for…
  • If you do some of the suggestions and still have issues I would make an appointment with a doctor, could be PCOS or thyroid.
  • Chia pudding made with almond milk and add peanut butter or protein powder
  • Yes, dairy messes with hormones and for me it seems to be the root of my unclear skin issues. It's hard to give up cheese and creamy goodness but now that I can see a difference I'm sticking with it!
  • I would also like to see success stories with fellow cysters too, I've always wanted a toned body and always get stuck, feeling as though my PCOS holds me back from what I really want to achieve. I know it takes more effort than the average person to get there, but we can do it! Currently, I'm doing a crossfit at home,…
  • Carb cycling doesn't have to be extreme, check out the program by Chris Powell, he has a couple books. I've followed it and being a woman with PCOS I find it works better for me to carb cycle since I am insulin resistant.
  • To the people who think pcos becomes an excuse you should keep in mind everyone has a different level of the syndrome and thus everyone has to try different things to see results. To answer your question I am in the same boat with eating low calories to see any change. I try to stay around 1200-1500cal and count half my…
  • There are many sites out there if you google pcos diet. Yes, stay away from sugary foods, white flours, sodium-rich foods and fatty foods. Which leaves what??? lol. It is really challenging. I have been more strict in the past and need to get back on the wagon since I just had my second child. Of course you can have the…
  • Agree with adding more calories from whole foods like the rest of the group. Another thing you can try for energy is kombucha tea. It is a fermented tea and I'm not sure how much sugar is in it. It's a great replacement for soda and has many health benefits
  • I was on metformin briefly for PCOS but started feeling really funny and getting heart palpatations. I looked into alternative medicine and starting seeing a doctor who specialized in herbs and acupuncture. With the help of herbs and a couple acupuncture treatments I got my periods back to where I now don't take anything.…

  • I agree with the people who suggest staying away from instant oatmeal. I use 1/3 cups rolled oats and found that mixing unsweetened applesauce to my oatmeal makes it more falvorful and increases the volume of my breakfast without adding many calories. I also add cinnamon and ground flax.
