  • I'd love to participate! Please send an invite my way! x
  • I had arthritis when I was small - diagnosed at age two. I have since 'outgrown' it - this is what the doctors have told me - but I have since developed another joint problem and most likely will need knee replacements by age 30. I haven't worked out in several months (due to university, work, etc), but as of late have…
  • I haven't done a group challenge yet, so here goes! SW: 128 lbs GW: 125 lbs personal goal: be able to do ten consecutive good quality push-ups! Will weigh-in every Friday morning. :) Hope everyone's well and good-luck! x
  • What I've learned in getting back into working out, is to focus on your heart rate. So long as your heart rate is up and at its max, you'll be burning calories and fat. I recommend doing some strength training on top of your cardio so you really work into your muscles - cardio will burn fat while your strength training…
  • Good for you! Thanks for sharing! I like the quote. :) Hope all's well with you and good-luck in your journey, xo
  • Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions! I would love to try a water aerobics or other type of water workout! Hope all is well and wish you all luck in your journeys! Love and light, xo

  • I love Jazzercise! Unfortunately I don't have a membership and only occasionally go with my mum (10$ per class without membership). I also have an elliptical machine, so I guess I will be working out on that for a while! Thanks! x

  • Is there a link to the challenge? I'd love to participate, but I'd like to know what I'd be participating in!
  • Agreed, but you definitely have progressed in your journey! You're motivating me to keep at the 30-Day Shred (just began it yesterday)! Congratulations, and good-luck! x
  • I love all of you.
  • I have a similar problem to you. My net total is ALWAYS sufficiently below my daily goal and it drives me nuts. I want to meet my net total goal, but I'm never hungry enough to make up for the deficit. Do you force it or what do you do?
  • Your body is growing accustomed to this sudden change and sometimes it takes a bit for it to adapt to the physical stress. Try taking your measurements and see if anything has changed there. If not, try changing up your workout a little. Most importantly, focus on how you feel and not so much on the number the scale says.…
  • I am such a sucker for ice-cream, and I do like the Skinny Cow treats occasionally. I will have to try that sometime this coming week! Thanks for sharing! x
  • I have the Polar ft4 and I bought it used. I haven't had that problem yet, but that is so strange! I'd hope no one's resting heart rate is 0... Which HRM do you use? I've heard good things about the newer Polar models as well as the BodyMedia FIT. Garmin makes HRMs as well that also track distance if you're into cycling or…
  • Part of my Saturday workout is elliptical intervals. They are relative as well, so you can adjust them to fit your own needs/ability. SmartCardio elliptical intervals: 1. Warmup: 3 - 5 minutes gradually increasing from easy to moderate intensity. 2. Exert at maximum effort and speed for 45 seconds. Give a million percent!…
  • I just bought 30-Day Shred and I did the first level today! It was really good even without weights (I left mine in my mum's car). I can't wait to get more into it and see what kinds of results come of it. Two other good ones: - The Biggest Loser Workout DVD (warm-up and cool-down, low-intensity cardio, high-intensity…
  • I have the Polar ft4 and I love it. It cost me 50$ used (still as good as new, too!). Mine doesn't track miles, either, though I wish it did! It does calculate zone times and calories burned. :) jendool, I had no idea you could register them online! I'll have to do that! Thanks and good-luck to both of you! x
  • In the morning when you first wake up. Don't weigh in daily or multiple times in a day as your weight tends to fluctuate between anywhere from 1 to 3 pounds throughout the day. :)
  • It sounds like a reasonable and realistic plan! :) I have a similar problem of trying to lose too much too fast and end up falling into old habits. It's a cruel and vicious cycle. There is absolutely nothing wrong with snail's pace progress. As wickedcricket put it, any progress is better than none. Hope all's well and…
  • I do some sort of strength routine every day, focusing on different muscle groups from day to day. It doesn't seem like much, but calories burned really do add up. Workout DVDs like The Biggest Loser series have a few out there that have strength training segments and I've burned up to 300 calories following their strength…
  • I have Wii Fit, but I feel the same way! But I'm envious of 30 Day Shred! I want to get it - I've heard good things about it. :)
  • Welcome! It's a great place to start. There are some really wonderful people here offering all kinds of advice and encouragement. :) Hope all is well and good-luck in your journey, Brianne! x
  • As ninerbuff said, there is no such thing as spot-losing. It sounds like you want to burn fat and tone up? If so, do some sort of cardio every day. Cardio will help rid excess fat, while strength training will help with toning up problem areas. If you have access to a treadmill or elliptical machine, you could do 20…
  • I love this! When I first started working out again, it was such a task just to muster up the motivation to do it. Now, every bit of free time I get, I want to do this or do that! Keep up the good work, you're doing great! :) x
  • This is going to come across as alot, but it doesn't take very long - maybe just over an hour at the most. Sunday is my low-key or rest day, so I do two walks around my neighbourhood with my puppy (two 10-minute walks, morning and night). Monday - Friday - 3-mile loop OR a 30-minute elliptical circuit as my cardio (more if…
  • I've found that MyFitnessPal tends to either undercalculate or sometimes overcalculate the calories you've burned. Your best bet for finding how many calories you burn during a workout is a heart-rate monitor. A heart-rate monitor is the most accurate way of figuring heart-rate and calories burned. I would recommend the…
  • Thanks for all your help, everyone! And yes, allabtlm, I meant tone and strengthen. By tighten, I meant get rid of excess fat and really get into building a bit of muscle. Hope all is well, xx
  • If you decide to use free weights or use the resistance machines, do your strength training first and then your cardio (stationary bike/elliptical). I've found that completing strength training after a cardio workout is awful - you won't be able to give 100% because you'll be too tired from the cardio. So, strength…
