I try to eat something light before exercising so I have a little energy but not loaded down. Then, I eat something with protein after. As far as weekends, I use those as rest days. I might do some "active rest" like take a walk or ride my bike with the kids.

I like to eat an apple before the gym. It has enough carbs to keep your energy level up through the workout. Then, a protein bar for the way home!

I found the calories for a lot of the cardio were not that accurate. I bought a heart rate monitor. Now I know exactly how many calories I'm burning. It has really helped me stay motivated.

I just started yesterday week 1 day 1. i would think it would be pretty easy for you if you can already run 1 mile. you might get bored. maybe go to week 3.
