  • 4575.00 burned 20425.00 to go Agree, you won't regret the HRM purchase. Best exercise investment I made.
  • 3775.00 Down 21225.00 To go I use an excel spreadsheet to track.
  • Girl you better get moving! I've got 3,200 burned already!
  • 1025 for me (two new classes--body step and body pump--and a nice outside walk). Today I'm planning a two-a-day...100 minutes water this morning and 120 minutes of line dance lessons in the evening, plus an ab and leg weight workout...should be good for 1300 calories. GOOD LUCK everyone!!!
  • I use a heart rate moniter (waist band and watch). THE best investment I have made, with regard to setting and meeting an exercise goal. ($100 Got mine at my gym, but I'm sure you can find them online.) My first class I burned 400 calories in 45 minutes. Most burn more, so that would be a safe calorie count.
  • I used to crave Culvers. Like another, I stepped the value meal down to their snack pak, which saves 1/3 of the calories. (Or the kiddie meal...if I have to have an ice cream, which is included with their kiddie meal). But, I'm finding the craving for Culver's is almost non-existent and replaced with eating grilled, spicy…
  • I'm game...averaged 875 calories burned per day last week...and was going to shoot for 1000 calorie burn per day this next week...why not the whole month!!! 169 current weight (down 4 lbs last week, when I began this site and 10 lbs total). I burn quality calories with yard work/gardening too, for those looking for a new…
  • I'm getting away from the word "diet" and replacing it with "healthy lifestyle choices". Since "diet" suggest an end to the process, which I don't think that works for me. Pizza (or anything) is fine, as long as you stay under you calorie limit and are incorporating exercise into the plan. With that in mind, when limiting…
  • Good for you! Like you, I am very camera shy when I am heavier. I look forward to the day when I will let my friends take my photo again.

  • Cravings are a two-fold--biological and mindset. One thing I noticed, you used the word "diet". Being 48 and on prednisone for over 20 years, I assure you, I have done my share of "dieting" and have a huge sweet tooth. However, this time around I have lost 10 lbs total (4 since I found this tracking system), I'm embrassing…
  • First, hair loss can be normal and with long hair, it is more noticable. With that said, as others have suggested, medical conditions or malnutrition can cause excess hair loss. I have SLE Lupus and hair loss is one of my symptoms. Your family doctor should do some basic blood work to make sure you are healthy.

  • Another reason I'm in "like" with myfitnesspal.com...I have tracked calories off and on for-ever it seems. But when I would "cheat" aka go over 1200 calories, no matter how much activity I had done...I felt like a loser who failed, which as someone else pointed out...propells the moral in the wrong direction...that darned…
  • What jump started my descipline, I committed to spending the money for 10-personal trainer sessions. Spent money is a powerful motivater for me. I think the best investment I made was purchasing a heart rate moniter. I set a daily calorie burn goal that I "must" acheive. I too am off during the summer and looking forward…
  • Suggest "bump" means to bring the thread/forum back to the top of the "recent" list, by posting a "bump".

  • No one element of your life can make or assure your "happiness". However, being overweight can be a factor which adds to an individual's unhappiness. In many cases, it is hard to stick with a healthy life-style program because the goal seems overwhelming, which begets frustration and eventually a sense of helplessness. I…
  • I plan a whole lite bag of popcorn for my even snack-binge into my diary...every day. So far, it hasn't hurt my daily sodium level, then again I don't do canned foods. I also keep cleaned carrots, green/red/yellow peppers and celery ready to grab. As well as, watermelon or cantelope diced and ready to eat. If those don't…
  • Click on the Settings link at the top of this page. Then update your food diary preferences. I've only used this site 3 days, but really like its tools. I guess my advice would be to trust in the process. 3,500 calorie deficiate = 1 lb lost Also, try to view your newly formed habits as lifestyle changes that won't end,…
  • I didn't "think" I liked fish, but tried Tilipia cooked in foil sprayed with non-stick spray, sprinkled with canjun and red hot pepper. LOVE it! Lesson I learned, keep trying low calorie, low fat choices till I find a few things that worked for me. Cheese in moderation is good for you. I try to pick lite varieties and…
  • You may "add" an exercise, which then allows you to change your calorie burn. I believe you may change the calorie burn on the database exercise items too?
  • I forgot my "pet peeve"...MY two left feet! :-)~
  • Regarding logging, I add activies to my database that are missing. IF my heart moniter varies, I just change the burned calories. I log yard word as an exercise too, since I burn 450-500 calories an hour when I do it.
  • Took my FIRST Zumba class last night...45 minutes=400 calorie burn...(for a 48 year old gal, who weights 170 lbs, and had NO Zumba experience). Hope that helps.
  • Plain "old fashion" oatmeal is indeed a whole grain. I've always read that you should stay away from the instant (aka processed) oatmeal.

  • a dash or two of cinnamon and 1 (measured) Tablespoon of white sugar ... and don't forget to include the sugar in your food journal ;-)

  • I too have about 50 more pounds to lose. Just hired a personal trainer--10 sessions-- to see what we can accomplish over the next 4-5 weeks, as I have a class reunion then. (Almost waited a bit too long...) Yet, short term goals are good and hopefully a spring board to life-long healthier choices. I am committed to eat…
  • I too have quit smoking twice. The last time was just over 2 years ago and I have gained 15-20 lbs...all of it went to my middle, thus my waist has disappeared. :-/ I have a 30 year class reunion in 5 weeks. I have lost 8 lbs so far. Now, I am determined to hit it very hard...to jump start some new healthy lifestyle…
