  • Thanks everyone! It may not seem like a lot to those that have never struggled with being healthy and fit, but it's a big thing for me. :)
  • Also (and this may be TMI for the guys), I'd especially go get blood work done if your period are excessively heavy/lots of clots. I was diagnosed with anemia for several years before they discovered that I had uterine fibroid tumors (benign) that were causing me to be so. I never really bruised easily, but I was always…
  • I'd go get your iron tested. You could be anemic.
  • Whey protein powder drinks and protein bars (either pure protein or meal replacement bars-which have enough carbs and protein for a meal) are good in moderation. There are plenty that are super high in calories and sugar, but they are great because they're easy and quick. As long as you don't have several a day, I say…
  • My favorite snack for salty: Blue Diamond Natural sea salt almonds. My favorite for sweet: ZonePerfect meal replacement bars. Their dark chocolate bars are to die for, and they count as a 'meal'
  • You could always just add in some 'healthy' fat....oil, peanut butter, etc. The goal numbers that they give me for carbs and protein are off for the plan that I follow...I eat my body weight in grams of carbs/day (so only 180, not 230+) and I have a target of 114 grams of protein per day (which is much higher than this…
  • It was in September of 2009. I saw pictures from my mom's wedding, in which I was a bridesmaid. I saw this blob of a person and thought 'who the heck is that?!' Then i realized that it was me. Sad day when you don't even recognize yourself in photos.
  • I think you look great! Congrats on your weight loss. Have you just recently lost this much weight or have you been maintaining for a while? I don't have any experience with this personally, but I would assume that it'll just take some time for the skin to tighten up. I don't think it looks as bad as you think it…
  • I was stunned by my sodium intake as well, when I first started. It's really forced me to embrace my inner cook :). I buy lots of hunts no salt added tomato sauce and make my own sauces and to really examine everything else that I eat. You'll be amazed at how great you feel when that number is down--no more bloated feeling…
  • Make sure that you're eating plenty of protein and that your meals are spaced closely together...about 3 hours apart. I eat 6 small 'meals' a day. It'll keep your body in 'burn' mode and will keep your sugar levels steady. I follow a low glycemic diet and since I've started I've noticed a huge difference from the types of…
  • Wouldn't it be nice if there was a magic pill? Unfortunately it takes a lot of hard work and dedication and desire to meet weight loss goals. I joined Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping (don't know if they have that in MI) and I do kickboxing (the real kind, not Tae Bo) and resistance bands 6 days a week. It's possible, but you…
  • I don't eat my burned calories either. If you're not hungry, don't eat. But if you are, make sure it's food with nutritional value, not just empty calories. Something with plenty of protein vs. high carbs are always a good choice...peanut butter, a hard boiled egg, cottage cheese, etc.
  • I agree! That's what I've done and I don't feel restricted. I feel more energized, less bloated and my sugars don't crash mid-morning or in the afternoon.
  • A few months ago i switched to a low glycemic 'diet.' I cut out all pop and other sugars and really watch my sodium intake. I eat 6 'meals' a day with a carb and a protein and 3 veggies a day. It really has worked for me, and I'm really not restricted---I can have bread and pasta as long as they're whole grain/whole wheat,…
  • You can't target specific areas of the body to lose fat. You can do situps till the sun comes up, but belly fat is mostly up to your diet.
