  • Just found OT on February 1st and im already hooked! Feel free to add me!
  • They posted results today and I actually beat my time from November by a lille over 5 minutes! :) I have another planned for May, so I am newly determined to train properly....the last 3 miles were ROUGH and i was pretty sore yesterday...but still so worth it..
  • Did it, killed it....no, wait....did NOT kill it lol sucked pretty badly actually LOL but I got through it and I'm so glad I didn't back out
  • Thanks everyone!! So, my friend sent me a text "I'm not feeling so great...think I'm coming down with something...I will let you know about tomorrow". I am PRETTY sure that she is bailing. I am not  I love all the enthusiasm and support from everyone here and I am going to just go and have fun at one of my favorite…
  • I think the difference is because the Frederick Half is the big event in that race, where the Baltimore Half is running at the same time as a Full, so the street closures are already set up for a longer time period. Where do you live in Maryland? I am in Northern Harford county and it has been pretty icy...I've had to bite…
  • Should/Can we replace the 2014 Goals sticky post at top of the forum with this thread?
  • NYC is definitely on the list of realistic goals...Athens is on the list of "if I ever hit the lotto" races....Would also like to do the HM's at the Grand Canyon and Key West
  • I'm doing it and I just started running last April! I am, tentatively, shooting to do the Full at the Baltimore Running Festival as that one holds some real sentimental value to me, but I may rethink that depending on how my training is going...I say go for it! I feel like there is enough time between the races to recover…
  • @davis_em What trail run are you doing in March? Wouldn't be the BoMF Half, would it?? That will be my second HM...getting excited already
  • Thanks for the input folks...I mainly run trails and all of the trails have really been holding a nice layer of snow and ice so that's what I was thinking of using them for...maybe I would be better to just invest in a pair of trail runners. I'm hitting the running store tonight, so I'll make a decision one way or the…
  • I started running last May and didn't really keep great track for a while...I also, admittedly, BOMBED from Thanksgiving-Christmas...so, I ended up at 300 miles for 2014. Have a lot more training planned for 2015, so looking at my schedule and taking into account ramping up and recovering from racing, I think that my goal…
  • Did my first HM at the Annapolis Running Classic in Annapolis, MD on November 22nd...it...was...HORRIBLE!!! It was super cold and I did a pasta dinner the night before that was purchased from a little pizza/sub shop and it didn't sit very well...so I think between that and not breathing properly in the cold, my stomach…
  • Year of the marathon for me as well in 2015...Baltimore on October 17th...!!! Ran an abysmal first HM on Nov 22nd, so I have a couple of those on the agenda for 2015 and am hoping to vastly improve my time at that distance. Have the Back on My Feet fundraising HM in March, Frederick Running Festival HM in May, and the…
  • thanks everyone :) I ended up having a miserable race...tired carb loading Friday...ate something that didn't agree...and was puking on the side of the course from mile 4 til the end...ugh...BUT, I finished :) 2:49:15...awful time, but despite thinking of throwing in the towel, I finished...first of many, and still a great…
  • Also, I have to packet pick up there tomorrow...which means, for me, that I have to wake up around 3am...I can get a hotel and drive down tonight for $80 bucks and gain about 2.5 hours of sleep...worth it or would you think the sleepiness won't really be a factor once the adrenaline gets going??
  • Ran a quickie on Sunday with a friend who is a newly-returned-to-running runner...just a local 5k...but I PR'd my time from my first 5K back in June by almost 5 minutes!! So that was cool  My big build for the fall is next weekend...Annapolis Running Classic (my first HM) on the 22nd....
  • I'm WAY slower than you, but following a similar path as you...I started running in April, ran my first 5K in June, first 10K in August, and doing my first Half next month in November following Hal Higdon's Novice II (it was just easier to fit in with my schedule than Novice I)...I can't talk to you about pace really...I'm…
  • Ooo, I'll play... Blue Steel Stampede - 10K Trail - Oct 5th Baltimore Running Festival - 5K - Oct 18th Rugged Maniac - 5K Obstacle - Nov 1st Annapolis Running Classic - Half Marathon - Nov 22nd
  • Thanks again :) I will definitely check with my doctor, it's just nice to hear someone else is doing it...makes me feel much more positive in general. I had just started training for my first half in November, and I have a few shorter runs (5K and 10K) im registered for before that so...we will see how it goes...
  • That's my thought too...I was just out running last Saturday and did 7 miles...I was undiagnosed, but clearly looking back on it, I was in the middle of a bad flare because I was in the hospital by the wee hours of Tuesday morning, less than 3 days later...I figure if I was doing it then, I should be BETTER off now that I…
  • I'm so glad I found this post...I was just diagnosed on Wednesday and one of the first things that went through my head was "what if I can't run anymore?!?!?!" It's good to hear people are doing it...soooo...when can I run again? I was thinking of just going out and doing like a mile or two, just to see how I felt...my…
  • W11D3 today...felt good...ready to blow through W12 (only adding 1 minute to each interval so I don't expect much issue) then it's on to the biggies...2 22 min runs, 2 25 min runs, 2 30 min runs, then an hour straight...that sounds daunting, but so did running 20 minutes straight a few weeks ago so...I'm ready :)
  • ROCKED W10 days 1, 2 and 3 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday!! I usually try to do both Saturday and Sunday because that's when I have the most time, and then just double up on rest days on Monday and Tuesday, but I think that's the first time I've managed to pull of 3 successful days in a row  The runs were "walk 5,…
  • Hi folks! I just started running this April with the C25K app and found that I REALLY LOVE running! I would have never in my life thought I would say that, and I still don't know what possessed me to start, but I am so glad that I did. I ran my first official 5K on June 1st with a time of 36:04, a personal best  So…
  • Hi everyone! I was just pointed to this page from the C25K page and I'm SO glad...I love these check in threads... I have completed Week 9 of the C210K app (I use ZenLabs) which was 3 days of "walk 5, run 10/walk 1 (4x), walk 5" and it felt GREAT! I think the 3rd interval was the hardest, mentally mainly I think,…
  • Officially hit the half way point to my weight-loss goal this morning  I have lost 30 pounds of the 60 I want to lose all together, going from 195lbs on March 23rd to 165lbs this morning...and I can't remember the last time I was this active and felt this good!!
  • Hi folks! I'm new to running, and it looks like most of you are WAY ahead of me in terms of speed and endurance, but I'm hoping that will just help to push me to where I'd like to be. I started running about 3 months ago, did a C25K trainer, my first 5K June 1st, and am now working my way towards my first 10K (a trail run)…
