  • I'm in. I've heard of c25k so many times and your suggestion is the perfect motivation. feel free to add me as a friend or pm me :)
  • thanks everyone for all the replies!! after a day away from the computer and time to think, I realize I may have been overreacting this morning. I'm going to give it time, cut the larabars, watch and carefully measure my healthy fat intake, and stop obsessing about the scale. it's so nice to have a community of people to…
  • okay I added sugar and sodium to my diary. also, the larabars are gluten-free, vegan, etc. the ingredient list for instance for the cherry pie bar is: dates, almonds, cherrys. I thought that would be okay, but if not, I'll totally stop buying them. thanks everyone so far for the replies - I really appreciate it. * edit -…
  • oops! diary is public now - sorry about that! since I just started primal, I'm not quite the expert to explain it - but if you're interested, there's tons of great information on MFP if you search for primal, as well as great info here: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/
  • i love their chocolate! i use it with almond milk as well. I add a tbs of natural almond butter and some fruit, then blend ;)
  • thanks everyone!! i just lowered my carb goal to max of 99g this morning. low and behold a banana has 31g of carbs. i'm learning!
  • i like to toss it with olive oil, salt, pepper and maybe red pepper flakes and roast it in the oven. it's still crunchy but tastes better :)

  • bump one more time - anyone?
  • bump - 6 mins later already off the recent posts!
  • another question regarding ratios: I read in some old community posts that a gram of carbs = 4 calories, a gram of protein = 4 calories, and a gram of fat = 9 calories. I tried to calculate the ratio of what I actually ate (as opposed to my goal), and I'm coming out higher than 100%. Can anyone explain what I'm doing…
  • I feel like I wrote this post myself! we have similar stats, I'm also a lawyer (and gained a bunch of weight during law school), and gained two pounds this week despite working out more than normal and staying under my calorie goal. I'm going to keep trucking though, hoping it will balance out in a week or two if I just…
  • hi there, when I first joined three weeks ago I had so many questions. then I discovered the search function on the community page - most things I wonder about have been asked and answered in the past! I've learned a great deal by reading old posts - I'd recommend it. good luck and congrats!
  • thanks everyone for the tips! do we think it's okay to have a protein shake twice a day (of course minding the calories, carbs and fat...)?
  • my doc says to take meds first thing in the morning, wait 30-40 minutes to eat, then take the vitamin with dinner. if you need to take it earlier for some reason, make sure you wait at least 4 hours after you take your meds. this also goes for other supplements (e.g. tums has calcium, which lowers the effectiveness of the…
  • this corn and black bean salsa is always a huge hit when I make it: 1 can of corn kernels, drained 1 can of black beans, rinsed and drained 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar 2 tbs vegetable oil (or olive) 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp splenda 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp chili powder tastes great right away, and even better…
  • hello everyone! I am also a hypothyroid sufferer. It took over a year and 4 different medication strengths but my doctors finally got my levels down to normal range. I agree that one of the things that made the most difference was when I committed to religiously taking my pill right when I wake up - keep it next to the bed…
  • thanks everyone! I'll look into a polar heart rate monitor.
  • As a newcomer to this process, I'd really like to thank you for explaining this so clearly and fully. I posted just last night that I had 700 exercise calories left after dinner that I didn't know what to do with, and many people advised me that I shouldn't worry about eating them. I appreciate everyone's advice, but I'm…
  • thanks everyone! I was a little hungry so I made a skim milk smoothie. still 500 calories left, but I'm done. thanks for the advice!
  • I hated plain greek yogurt when I first tried it (so bitter!) but didn't want the added sugar in the fruit/honey ones. Sooo best solution ever = 0% plain Fage with one packet of splenda. no fat, only 7g of sugar (the 0% honey has 29g!) and 18g protein. can't beat it. I like to add trader joes ground flaxseed w/ blueberries.
  • hi there - me too! I finally realized there's no reason to hide I'm on a diet if I'm overweight - it just means I'm doing something to make myself healthier. I do struggle with embarrassment though. that's why I think this site is so wonderful - everyone is looking for the same thing - non-judgmental support. feel free to…

  • I'm new here and don't really know how to add friends, but I totally get the lack of continued motivation. Every few months I "turn over a new leaf" and eat better, exercise, and believe this time I'll stick to it. And every time around week 2 or 3, somehow I lose track. I love eating out, I love drinking beer with…
