  • This is where I’ll disagree. Chronic dieters and people who have yo-yo dieted for years don’t always need a further ‘deficit’. They need a reverse diet. Cutting calories isn’t always the answer.
  • If your intention is to lose weight without massive overwhelm, then focusing on protein and then calories goals is necessary. Protein is king in weight loss and not only helps with maintaining/building muscle, but also contributes to energy levels and many other processes within the body. Most people undereat protein and…
  • @aprilgranier MFP often calculates ridiculously low intakes. 1200 calories is the daily recommended intake for a toddler. Are you just starting out with dieting or have your dieted for years? Are you looking for actual weight loss or are you more interested in body recomposition? What was your daily intake prior to the…
  • Hey Taylor! Welcome and congrats on taking the first steps! I would certainly recommend getting your calories from quality food sources and learning ‘how’ to eat for life. Shakes are not a sustainable weight loss method, because no one is going to consume them forever. I would suggest learning how to track macros &…
  • Challenges or friend requests! Feel free to add me
  • You made the decision and are taking action! Great place to start! Feel free to request me if you need a buddy
  • I’d be happy to help keep you accountable. Despite my profession (nutritionist), I too have had a hard time sticking to a plan at times. What helps me is to identify what leads to my ‘off days’ and then I remind myself what it will ‘look like/feel like’ when I actually hit my goals. Feel free to send me a request!
  • In my experience, you have to want it bad enough. If you aren't 100% committed to doing it, you won't. Maybe make small changes to your nutrition until you find that you are "all in" and then go to low carb. I am not much help in the low carb department, right now I am in the bulking phase of a program and I have high carb…
  • The key for me was finding something that was sustainable...as the person above me posted. Make small changes, a little at a time and see how well you handle that. It shouldn't be all-consuming to get exercise and good nutrition into your daily life, but when just start out (or restart) there is a tendency for that to…
  • I'm active! Add me!
  • You look confident and beautiful in your costume! Sounds to me like the person with the negative comments was wrong...clearly you rocked it and other people thought so :-)
  • It happens to all of us! I found that once I established my motivation, the reason REALLY driving me to change, I really stayed focused and consistent. I know it's easier said than done and honestly, I was at my breaking point before I found it. I have stayed pretty consistent for 7 months and know that I am much happier…
  • Hi Brandi! I would love to be friends! I have been on and off with nutrition and fitness for years! I am currently working towards toning up some more, as I do not really need to lose any more weight. My story is in my profile, so feel free to read it and request me if you'd like! Dana
  • Same thing here: Hashimotos's/hypothyroid. I was diagnosed after the birth of my 1st son. I was running myself (literally running) into the ground trying to lose weight and eventually I was diagnosed. I take synthroid, which has been adjusted multiple times throughout pregnancy and over the course of 3 years. I manage by…
  • 1800-2000 calories is a lot for someone trying to lose weight, that sounds more like "maintenance calories". My suggestion would be to use the calculator on teambeachbody.com and enter your info and goals to establish what you should be eating. I understand your frustration but don't give up on that program! You could…
  • You should have them for yourself even if you have no intention of posting them. Pictures and measurements tell a story of progress that the scale never can!
  • Gotcha! I know that my body responds to healthy fats over carbs, so I will start there. Thanks for your input!
  • Najat, I am obsessed with the crack butter too! I need to follow something along the lines of what you are doing. I have to find a split that will work for me :-)
  • I found my TDEE to be 1941. What would you recommend as a split for leaning out? I have seen a lot of people upping fats over carbs for fat loss and I wonder if that's effective.
  • I plan on sticking with Paleo. I have been doing it a long time and it works for me. The problem seems to lie in "what" I am eating though. Like the other person who posted said, I probable need to change my ratios. I will give that a whirl and see where it takes me. Thanks!
  • Yep! I have been weight training but think my ratios were off. For the past month I haven't been counting anything and I need to get back on track!
  • I sent requests to everyone!
  • I know it stings a little! Haha! I am 36!
  • Will add you! I was a slave to the scale FOREVER! I am pretty good about nutrition, so maybe I can help you out :-)
  • I'll add you! I workout at home 5-6 days per week, close to goal but have some toning to do!
  • Mom of 2 here who stays at home during the week with my kiddos and works weekends!
  • Welcome Eloise! I will add you too :-)
  • Same here. I am 5'4" and 132 and people jaw-drop when I tell them what I weigh. Small victories!
  • I eat a lot of what was posted above, but I also like kale chips, home made jerky and grain-free "granola". All are made at home and are delicious!
  • You got this!
