I lost 40 lbs. this past summer by swimming 3-4 times per week. Pool is 1 mile from my house, so I walked there (briskly), swam laps for 30 minutes (48 lengths = 2/3rds mile) and walked 1 mile home. No kickboards or other aids. Just me, old man trunks, and a pair of goggles. It worked very well for me. Still doing this at…

I eat 2 eggs for breakfast 3 or 4 times per week. Great low-fat protein source. Did not negatively affect my cholesterol. In fact, since starting MFP 7 months ago, I actually lowered my total cholesterol from 251 to 179.

Congratulations !!!! I met my 1st goal today as well (-35 lbs.). Gonna lose 10 more by Thanksgiving to achieve goal #2. Wonderful feeling....couldn't have done it without MFP.

I don't like the taste of walnuts. Almonds are so much better. I have a 100-calorie pack (low-sodium) almost every day as a snack. So many health benefits, including lowering your cholesterol.

It's a good idea to eat back at least half of your exercise calories, if not more. Just don't eat them late at night. Try to stick to the "no food after 10 pm" rule, if you can.

Me too !!!! I made it back to "One-derland" for the first time since 2003. What a feeling ! Congrats on your success !!!!

I have my sandwiches on whole wheat bagel thins, but occasionally I'll have my sandwiches "un-wich" style, which is a trick I learned from the Jimmy John's restaurant chain. Basically all the contents of your sandwich wrapped in large lettuce leafs instead of bread. Love it !

Agreeing with others....don't weigh every day. Once per week at the same time is enough (i do it first thing Friday morning). Try to be at 1200 net calories whenever you can. Hang in there....you are actually making steady progress !

Yep, rattle your exercise routine. Play some tennis with a friend, swim some laps, just do something different.

Caffeine and Hydration In addition to the positive effects of caffeine, such as enhancing alertness, many people worry that there are negative effects of drinking caffeinated beverages, such as contributing to dehydration. Fortunately, the research does not support that drinking moderate amounts of caffeinated beverages…

Get your exercise every single day, but try to mix it up a bit. Eat smaller meals, 5-6 times a day, as opposed to the usual 3. Hang in there.....lots of great support and advice here.
