I'm a 42 year old mom of a 13 year old. Currently starting out at 256- most of the weight gain was thanks to medication roulette for my depression, but now I've found one that works and need to start working on other things! Let the fun begin?

Hello! I received an UP for Christmas, but I don't know anyone who has one. Feel free to add me as a teammate- nothing like a little friendly competition, yes? Gwynne Hamer

Gwynne Hamer. I really want to duel!

Yar. I decided this morning to stop slacking on my logging, so why not? Warning: I don't eat "clean".

Wow! So much negativity here. Huh. I've done nude modeling for an art class. It's a very freeing experience and the students were all very respectful. Just remember to bring a robe with you. I forgot once and it was a little awkward during pose changes. (3 hour class).

Get thee to a doctor. Could be a lot of things and if it's serious it's best to know. For example, plantar fasciitis can cause an achey, bruising feeling in your arch and it is not to be messed with.

Take a look at convict conditioning. It's a progressive strength body weight only program (though a pull-up bar is recommended).
-
It gets better. *hugs*

Losing around 8 pounds in four weeks is not a plateau. I really hope you're not pressuring her to lose more faster just because you are. Males and females do no respond to weight loss the same way. She's doing great! Lighten up!

Monday is 3x5 Wednesday is 3x5 except for cleans which are 5x3 Saturday is 10x10 for each lift, alternating Takes me around 45 minutes to an hour at most, depending on how heavy the weights are and how much recovery I need between sets. ;)

I was trying to do strength training on my running days and... It didn't end well. Either my runs suffered or my lifts suffered, so I had to pick one as my main focus. Right now I'm doing marathon training four days a week (three short runs and a long run) and lifting on the other three, using a bastardized version of…

No Greyjoy? :(
-
Ok. You've identified the problem. Now what can you change in your nightly routine to stop these behaviors?

I carry a water bottle on my long runs, but I don't drink. I just swish it around in my mouth and spit every few miles. It's gross, but it keeps my mouth and lips from drying out.

Camel! Oh, how I love camel. And half moon.

10k runner is a great little app that takes you to an hour of running.
-
I watch subtitled anime. The reading keeps me from focusing on the timer- if I watch a show in English I'm constantly looking to see how much longer I have to go and it becomes a hideous form of self torture.

You want to be a runner? Run! Presto, you are now a runner. C25K is lovely. I used an app called 5k runner. Keep in mind that it is time based, not mileage, and it will get you to running 30 minutes at a go. Depending on speed, you may or may not end up with a full 5k at the end. Have fun!

I concede defeat... For now! *cue dramatic music*

Rawr! Lift all the heavies! ALL THE HEAVIES!!

My thighs are 26 inches. Ha! I win!
-
Did you do it yet?

I sleep in my running clothes so I have no excuse not to get my tail moving. Marathons don't run themselves!
-
Ran away? Did they gnaw through the ropes and escape the basement? You really ought to invest in a pit and chain set up. Then you only have to remember to feed them about once a week so they don't start eating each other.

82.5 Barrow-downs continue. Between the Road and the Downs is a hedge.

Lifting light to tone is an evil lie. A good basic starting program is Starting Strength. Nice, basic, compound lifts. There's also Stronglifts and new rules of lifting for women (though nrolfw gets a bit complex and annoying). Look at videos for form and work at the lighter weight until you have it down. Then start…

I got a set of 5 pound ankle weights when I was in a similar situation. Strapped them to the bar and called it a day.

74.25 A half mile until we camp.

Why does speed matter? Like all things you get better and faster with time. Too hot? Carry water and run slower. Sounds more like you're looking for a reason to quit than a reason to keep going.

I follow strong lifts and am training for a marathon, so I'm pretty transparent with my workouts. Feel free to add me.
