Huge Life Changes
So I was active here some time ago. I lost about 40 pounds logging and working out heavily. But then the poo kind of hit the fan, and I had to hit the reset button on life. I lost my job, got a divorce, and then, since my life was pretty much starting over, I opted for a radical change in scenery, and moved to Zhengzhou,…

Bike question
Ok, I'm new to cycling, and I love it! Unfortunately, my wallet does not. I bought a hybrid bike (trek fx). It is doing just fine for road riding. I want to start doing some trail riding, but can't afford a mountain bike right now. So two questions... 1. Could the hybrid I have now handle trail riding without getting torn…

Weight training for cycling
So I'm getting pretty into cycling here lately. I want to train my legs for it. Obviously, cycling itself is one component. But in the weight room... I know the exercises that target the quads, hams, glutes, and calves. My question is, do I want to do high weight low rep to gain strength, or low weight high rep to gain…

Bike polo
Anyone tried this? Looks kinda fun. Do you need a certain type of bike? I have a hybrid.

New Runner pain...
So I have started running. So far, I have done week one of c25k, and day one of week two. Basically just running for minute and a half intervals at 5.0. All of this has been on a treadmill. My hip continually hurts (that is bursitis) but is getting some better. Now my knees are hurting. Just below the kneecaps on the…

Running pain
First of all, let me be clear, I'm not talking about pain like injury pain. So all of last month, I did the eliptical as my main cardio. Here lately, in an effort to begin training for some races, I've switched to the treadmill and, weather permitting, the pavement. I'm having two issues... First, while I run, my get are…

Outside vs treadmill
Why is walking outside so much harder than on a treadmill? Ive been doing 3-4 miles a day on either the treadmill or eliptical, and its getting easy. Tonight I did an "urban hike" through downtown Nashvile... I was ready to drop after four miles. Granted there were some steep hills, but my legs were about to lock up!

How much protein?

Your embarrassing fat shame moment
Reading a post here from a new poster, I had a thought. Similar to the confession page, I thought we should have a thread where people tell thier most humiliating fat story. Just so people know it's not just them. ---- So here is mine. In college, one of my friends had pool party. I went, but declined to get in the pool,…

Upper body strength
I (6'4" 280 lb male) have ZERO upper body strength. I have never done a pull up in my life. Can't really do proper pushups. Dips are extremely hard. I was in a body pump class the other night... It called for push ups. I was the only guy. All the girls just started cranking out pushups, I couldn't do it. Quite…

Low cal salad dressing help
So I have finally gotten to where I like salad pretty well. In fact, I sometimes crave it. The problem... I am tired of using up so many calories on dressing! I don't eat ranch it blue cheese, but I LOVE honey mustard dressing. But it is pretty high cal and fat. Anyone have either a good recipe or brand for light honey…

Running shoes - miles
So when I got fitted for my running shoes, the salesman told me they should last 200-300 miles. Easy enough. The question I have is, are all miles created equal? For example, road miles vs. Treadmill and eliptical miles.

Fitbit aria
So I just set up my new fitbit aria smart scale. Weight seems accurate. Body fat % says 5%. I'm pretty sure id have to be dead a month to get that low (it was 34% five days ago at the gym). Anyone else have this problem? Know a fix?

Silly fitness stuff
Have you started doing anything weird in your fitness goal? For example, in in the waiting room at a doctor's office right now. Instead of sitting, I'm walking laps around the huge room. People are looking at me funny. Lol

Runnkeeper, fitbit, and mfp
I am doing the beginners 5k program on runnkeeper. I also wear a fitbit charge hr. Both apps synch to mfp. My first run is today. If I wear the fitbit, and record the run in runnkeeper, will it double record to mfp?

How do I use my charge hr?
Ok. I have been using mfp, and logging my cardio manually based on the caloric burn the eliptical reported. Today, I got a charge hr, as I am about to start c25k, and want a hrm to track that outdoors. How do I log now? Do I still enter the exercise manually? Do I just let the fitbit adjustment do its thing?

Electrolytes
Several questions. 1. Is the claim that you need to replace more than water, meaning electrolytes, true, or sports drink marketing crap? 2. Assuming it is true, anyone got a recommendation that is lower sugar than gatorade? One bottle blew my sugar goal for today.

Trail running
I'm going to be doing a trail race in October, and will be training on trails some. I will also be doing some road running. Are trail running shoes acceptable for road running too, so I only have to buy one pair?

Help with calorie goal
If I may ask... The calculator said my tdee is 3800 or 4200. Mfp has my calorie goal at like 2700 and change. Do i really need to be eating 3800 calories a day? 6'4" 35 M 286 lb looking to lose something in the neighborhood of 70-75 lbs Thanks in advance, I really think this is a great tool, and want to get it right.

Heart rate and fat burn
So I'm seeing things online that the optimal heart rate for fat loss is in 140s, and higher heart rates are more cardio, stamina ranges. I find it very difficult to keep my heart rate that low while working out. while on the eliptical, my heart rate tends to stay in the high 150s to low 170s. Do I need to try to keep it…

Smoothie help
So I tried making my first smoothie for breakfast today. It went ok. Carrots, spinach, blueberries, strawberries, banana... Tolerable taste. But the Chia seeds... They congeled into a wad at the bottom of my bottle. How do you avoid that?

Logging everyday activities?
How, if at all, do you figure calorie burn from work? For example, at my job, I have to put up the truck one a week. This involves picking up and moving some 150 boxes of varying weight and moving them. Obviously, this burns calories, as I work up a sweat. Is there a reasonably accurate way to log this?

Supplements? Vitamins?
I am a 35 y.o. Male, 6'4" 290. Looking to lose at least 50lbs. I am following my mfp diet, and doing strength training and cardio. My question.... Would I get any benefit from supplements or vitamins? I am a noob here, so I would appreciate advice from someone who isn't trying to sell me something.
