Help with calorie goal

If I may ask... The calculator said my tdee is 3800 or 4200. Mfp has my calorie goal at like 2700 and change. Do i really need to be eating 3800 calories a day?
6'4" 35 M 286 lb looking to lose something in the neighborhood of 70-75 lbs

Right. I get that. I was just wondering if an 1100 calorie below that goal is appropriate.
I'm doing pretty well with the goal thus far. A couple bouts of hunger that a protein bar fixed.
I don't particularly want to raise the goal, just want to make sure that its sustainable. Trying to do a permanent lifestyle change rather than a diet this time.0 -
MFP does not include exercise calories (but includes the deficit) and your TDEE does include exercise (and no deficit) unless you selected sedentary.
What did you select for your weigh loss target? (default is 1lb a week which ~ 500 calories a day).0 -

If you work a desk job, where there is not much movement everyday, I would recommend select sedentary as your life style and manually log your exercise to get more accurate result. After you log for a week or two, you can then choose different life styles in MFP depend on your actual calorie burn based on your two weeks of data. You only need 500 net calorie deficit after you factor in all your daily activities and exercises to lose about 1 lb of fat per week.0

Scooby's Workshop calculator says 2,470 to lose 1.2 lbs. a week *not* accounting for exercise (set at sedentary). That matches fairly close with MFP. I assume you included some exercise in your MFP calculation which bumped up the calories.
I see that people on here often say to try out the MFP recommendation for 2 weeks, see how you feel, check if you've lost weight, and tweak from there. To change your goals, click Goals > Change Goals > Guided, Continue, enter in your accurate information and realistic goal weight, and click Update Profile.
