First Ultra (training) Help Please
I'm looking doing bigger ultras but i thought since i did a full marathon in spring, i'd see about doing a 50k in fall. (50mi to come, idk about 100+) so i like the idea of a plan. google supplied a lot of different options. this one from santa clarita's running group looked pretty achievable. Is it ok some of the long…

Gym Bag Essentials
I'm sure this has been done to death but my turn. What do you have in your gym bag that you feel is essential? hair ties? your own towel? sandals for the shower? I've been exercising but ice is bringing me indoors and I've never been a gym person before. I really have no idea what to bring some days I'll be going in the…

ultra crew
so i'm working on my marathon training but really it's a pit stop. i've wanted to do ultras since i found they were a thing. we have 50k-100milers in my area and i'm reading articles to keep me motivated. powerhiking, gear, etc. but this is my issue. i'm a solo runner. i don't run with a group, i don't see the same people,…

argh
i made my goal. and i maintained. And then I didn't. and I got back up to 170lbs. No motivation got me moving for a long time. But now i have a NSV goal. I'll be doing some work in front of a camera at a stunning location that rarely gives permission for model photography in August. I joined the runselfierepeat people with…

2 weeks to wedding, food decisions
so i am getting married in a couple of weeks and it's crunch time. I fit in the dress but i want to make sure i maintain or maybe loose a pound or two for breathing room-literally. which brings me here to pick the hive mind for food choices to keep me full. i'm looking for low calorie high fiber and/or high protien and/or…

I found this blog this morning and then I found this particular post I thought we all might be able to appreciate the humor and who doesn't enjoy Jennifer Lawrence memes

Compression and Tape
I see stuff about compression leggings, socks, sleeves, leg sleeves. Do they actually help performance? Do they actually help with recovery? Is it worth the money to invest in these? Or are they a gimmick? I have the same questions around Rock Tape and other similar tapes. I've had issues with my achilles and my calf so…

Burn twin
Hi all My ankle is not doing so well today so I was hoping to find an activity that requires no equipment that I can do at home that has a similar calorie burn as running at 5mph for an hour tomorrow- if my ankle is not good to run on. Something not to taxing on the ankle. Today I declare as official rest day

arm and a leg?
So I've been on a weight loss journey since January and have been doing well loosing 20 lbs. But I've stalled out. and I just got my food scale. all things are weighed though sometimes there is only "slice" options instead of oz/g options. and my calories are just where I thought they were thus far but the weight scale…

did it (nsv)
When I first started running/jogging, I could barely do it. I didn't have the muscles. It was even weird to think that running took muscles, but when I would see runners I would see them floating by with an easy gait. and then I would look at my shuffling feet and feel silly trying to run. I caught my reflection out of the…

restaraunts and weight gain
let me be clear that I understand that weight loss is a marathon and is not in a straight line but.... I've noticed a pattern. when I eat out, I almost always gain 2-3 lbs the next day. and this isn't making me panic. but why is that? do they use a lot of salt? I know I'm not eating 3lbs of food. so just a question.

running and humidity
As a beginner at running, I've been lucky enough not to have to deal with all the humidity of summer. But it is here. And it is awful. How does one keep running when the air is so heavy? I was doing well and now I've had to take it back and take extra breaks. Do we get used to the humidity eventually?

determined
I am in SE WI, land of cheese, beer and fried food. I sit at a desk during the day and do aerial yoga two to three times a week. I usually do about 2 to 3 miles a day, walking. I recently have started jogging a mile in the morning as part of those 2-3 miles. I want to lose about 30lbs. maybe 40. by next year this time. I…
