Short women! Over 40! Great legs!
Every day I drop my twins off to school and one of the moms in the line has great legs. She is younger but she is also really short and so I asked her today what she does for her legs. She said "nothing." She admitted others have told her that and it just runs in her family, both her mother and sisters also have good legs.…

Sick and Tired...of eating
I know my body pretty well and I know when I am sick or run down I eat because my body is attempting to get energy from food. BUT knowing this doesn't help the situation. I have been sick and exhausted with sick kids lately. So I am hungry all of the time and it is killing my daily caloric intake, and I crave things with…

Sexy vixen vs. dowdy dilemma
This is going to be a weird topic but I am genuinely curious to see what people have to say about it, especially people male or female who have lived it. It is my belief that weight is about a lot more than just food to mouth, it has its whole complicated internal connections to sexuality, self esteem, belief systems,…

How to prepare for my first 5k?
I signed up today for my first 5k in April 2012. I wanted a real tangible fitness goal, something I could accomplish. But being so out of shape, I am not sure how to prepare. Anyone who has gone from out of shape to 5k, your input would be appreciated. I am short with short legs and my legs are always my weak point in my…

The gifts in being overweight
Let's face it, being overweight has served us all in some way. When we are honest with ourselves there is a reason we are overweight that goes far beyond food meet mouth. We eat for myriad reasons, from stress to pain, from sadness to shame. Each and everyone has a story and a legacy that leads to the unwanted pounds that…

NSV snuck up on me
I was getting in the shower today and just quickly stepped on the scale (not my official weigh in). I noticed it was about the same, but I didn't feel as big. So I figured I needed a reality check since I ate junk over the weekend. I needed to know how much damage was done so I could get clean again. I noticed that I kept…

For the Men: Curly or Straight
A few weeks ago a man told me my curls were "hot!" That was the first time I heard that. Most of my life I tried to be the fashionably straight hair with total failure. I embraced my curls many years ago and I have been happier ever since. But I have seen on tv shows people talking about men want straight hair. I've even…

To be or not to be "Pretty"
I notice as I read many different posts around physical attractiveness that some women think they are fabulously gorgeous all of the time, some women think they completely unattractive all of the time, and some women feel they look good some times and not others. I am in the last category. My perception of my outward…

So I need a new "pad name" you know the name they scribble quickly on their pad and even if you correct them they scribble something else wrong. Need a man...eat chocolate instead...ok that didn't work...
An odd observation. But any single women (or men) find themselves eating to replace sex? Not that it is a good replacement, but it is a reality. It's an attempt to fill the void of not just physical passion but more important that INTIMACY between two people. I can't be the only one who turns to chocolate and wine when…

Single Moms over 40...wanna-be MILFs
I am looking to add some more friends to my support group. I love to hear from everyone but it is always helpful to have friends who you can relate to in life's situation. I am no longer 20something, I've had a few kids, I'm divorced and I don't have all the energy or time, or taunt skin I used to. But I'm not dead either.…

The whole person, not just the weight
I have fluctuated in my weight most of my adult life. I have been a skinny, toned and shapely size 4 and an unhappy, overweight, and pregnant size 18. In my own personal journey I have become a strong believer in weight being a manifestation of deeper things. As I have looked at my reasons for losing and gaining over the…

Toltecs?
I am a student of the Toltec and while getting physically healthier I also believe in looking deeper into the underlying issues and energetics. Just wondered if there were any other Toltec followers or like minded who are looking at the bigger picture while undergoing their fitness plan.

Spicy foods increase appetite?
I was wondering about others experience with this. I love spicy foods, especially chipotle and tabasco. I put tabasco and lemon in my water. But I find that it seems to increase my appetite. I have read it also increases metabolism. Any thoughts or experience?
