Walking with weights? How to figure on Exercise database?
I have been walking 1.2 miles 4 or 5 days a week. I am ready to add arm weights while I walk so I can tone my arms up. We don't have an option for walking with weights (unless you carry a 15 pound infant) so how do I calculate that? My walk usually takes me 30 minutes if I walk at a lesiurely pace, 28 if I walk briskly.

Yawning and getting dizzy during Zumba?
My co-worker and I recently started a full on Zumba class twice a week. I've done Zumba in the past but it was Circuit Zumba, so there were breaks in between the dancing. I'm finding that when I exercise now, I yawn, A LOT. I know it's lack of oxygen because I'm not breathing properly, so I'm working on that. I'm wondering…

300? Never again!
I have been trying to decide if I should post this or not, because I've not been such a great example the last couple of weeks. But, I'm posting because of that. Because I've been feeling blue over the weekend and need to remind myself that it's a new day, and I didn't do anything wrong. I'm under the 300 pound mark. And…

Help with logging an exercise (pretty please!)
Hubs found a Weslo Cardio Glider in the landlord's junk room. He heaved it into the living room and I've been using it. It's a push/pull with arms and legs kind of machine. I have posted a pic for reference: The digital read out on this machine doesn't work - hubs doesn't know if it is fried or just needs new batts, but…

Weslo Cardio Glider workout?
I worked out on this machine (that hubby found in the landlord's junk room!) How would I count calories burned on this thing??

Okay this isn't so much a success as a proud moment
I haven't worn shorts in years, other than around the house. If I leave the house, I'm in slacks or jeans. I think I was probably 23 the last time I wore shorts. (I'm 28 now.) After highschool, I wasn't very active. I went from vollyball player and marching band to eating and watching tv! Since I've gotten back on track,…

Pesto
Hit me with some pesto recipes, please! I LOVE pesto and will pretty much eat it on just about anything. How are your best tasting way to make it?

Sick
I'm so sick.... It started Friday at work with the coughing, progressed into sore throat, hoarseness, fever, chills and a few other things I'll spare you all the details on. I'm still sick. Currently have a fever of 102 and trying to break it. Ugh.. My diet is blown to hell in a handbasket this weekend :(

Stressed & another 2
My mother is 67 years old, and sufferes from high blood pressure and kidney problems. She lives in SC across the street from my two brothers. My sister and I live here in MS. My sister's daughter moved to SC (in with mom) this past weekend. All week last week, my mother begged me to make the 8-9 hour drive up to see her.…

Water Aerobics - First Class
Wow. Lot more to it than I thought there would be. Each class is 50 mins long and you use up every second of it. I spoke with the teacher before class started explaining the situation with my hip. She assured me that at any point, if I felt pain, it was okay to stop and wait for the next set of exercises. She told me that…

Weigh In today.
I weigh in the mornings, before my body wakes up lol I started last Monday 1/12/09. I've lost 4 pounds. Not as much as I would like, but I'm posting it in this forum because it's still a success. I know what I need to work on in order to lose more and I'm going to start my water aerobics tomorrow. (I'm so excited about…

So I signed up for Water Aerobics
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 50 mins each class. For someone who goes from no activity to this kind of activity, what kind of aches and pains can I look forward to? :noway: I'm not complaining, but I want to be prepared if I need ice packs, heating pads and arnica rub lol

Water Aerobics
Anyone do this? I think with my back injury, this would be ideal for me. Two days a week, 40 min. classes. My local college offers the courses, and I'm thinking of signing up tomorrow.

So I've read the questions and answers thread but...
I still have a couple of questions. First, let me make sure I understand this correctly. (I'm slow.) If MFP tells me to eat 1,730 cals a day, I eat them. Now, if MFP tells me that I'm going to burn 350 cals from exercising per workout (assuming three 30 mins workouts a week), then I should also eat that 350? -- I get the…

Best Recommended Calorie Counter?
I'm one of those people that gave up real sugar when I did the Atkins thing. Hubby and I exclusively use Splenda now -- (although I'd like to give Stevia a try - but that's a different thread!) What calorie counter is best to use for things like fruit snacks? Something I like to do is make pre-made 3oz fruit bags of things…

Exercises with a past injury?
I'm looking to exercise, and ideally, I would love to be able to walk on a treadmill to start out, but we don't have one, nor the money to buy one. I dislocated my hip and ruptured two discs last year, so I'm fearful of doing an exercise that will end up hurting me, but I know I have to do something. I've got an…

Hello to all
Hi! My name is Nysa. I'm new to MFP and still trying to learn my way around. I have alot of weight to loose, and I know I can do it, if I do it right. My friend Laura turned me on to MFP, it's done so well for her. My husband will also be joining up soon and working through this with me. My biggest hurdle is exercise. I…
