Can I drink alcohol if it fits into my calories or should I limit it to lose weight?
I know alcohol slows weight loss but just wondering if I need to have a hard rule like only drinking once a week or if I can just fit it into my calorie budget when I want to. TIA!

Women Recomp Stories?
I'm a 5'8 woman and started at 140 lbs. By no means overweight, but VERY squishy. I was a classic skinny fat person. I overate unhealthy things and I had no muscle tone. I'm working on recomp but I would love some motivation! Please post your recomp success stories and pics! :)

Breakup, Death, and getting back on track...
I broke up with my bf of 6 years a few months ago. I was devastated and had trouble eating. Then I'd binge on absolutely everything. It was really derailing my progress. I started getting it together when my mom died unexpectedly. She wasn't even 50, super healthy, worked out every day. She just stopped breathing and we're…

Trouble Eating After Breakup
I'm coming out of a messy breakup with my bf of 6 years. I ended it because he is making terrible life choices that I don't agree with and I can't deal with it anymore. So even though I was the one to end it, I didn't want to have to make that choice. I feel awful and I'm just not hungry, but I'm sooo close to reaching my…

Bread?
I'm on a mission to get abs and I keep hearing that if I limit my bread and white potato intake (not all carbs though) it'll help me achieve my goal faster. I'm already working out, lifting heavy, and eating high protein. My body fat is still going down just very slowly. So I keep getting advice to eat only 1 bread or…

When you fall off track but don't gain weight?
I'm recovering from an awful breakup and although I've counted consistently for 250 days, I just went "ugh I don't care" while on a trip this last week and only partially logged. I drank lots of wine, ate fast food, and absurd amounts of ice cream cake. I got back last night and weighed in this morning fearing a gain.. and…

Spacing Out Eating
So I've reached a metabolic standstill - I've been stuck at 130 lbs for the last couple months. And now from last month to this month, my measurements didn't even change, so I'm not losing fat right now. :( I'm 5'8, eating 1500 calories, and still have a good amount of fat to lose. I weight train, lift heavy, and do cardio…

Still a lot to lose on waist but low weight?
I'm a little stuck as to what to do here. I'm 5'8, 130 lbs right now, which is pretty thin for my height. But I have a small frame and I still have a lot of fat on my stomach. I'm already lifting and working out 3-5 days a week, so I'm trying to tone up and I can feel my abs in there, but they're under quite a bit of fat…

Good Low Cal "Diet" Foods?
I love finding lower calorie alternatives that actually taste really good. Von's Eating Right frozen meals are great and they have high protein variations. I'm not much of a cook so I like frozen (and portioned controlled) options. I also love Skinny Cow's ice cream and desserts. They taste just as good as any other ice…

Protein Argument?
I'm in the pursuit of abs and lowering my body fat percentage. I'm 5'8, 130 lbs, but still a lot of fat to lose, especially on my stomach. I've been eating 1450 cal a day and lost 10 lbs since January. I've been weight training 3x a week and cardio 3-5x a week. I'm getting conflicting information, so maybe some of you can…

Cardio to Abs?
My trainer insists I should be doing cardio 5x a week (for an hour!) to get to my goal of having abs. I'm 5'8, 130 lbs, still too much fat on my stomach to see any ab lines. I weight train 3x a week. However, I hate hate hate cardio with a fiery passion. Will I get abs if I just keep up with my deficit and weight training?…

Only 4% Left To Go!!
I'm posting this here because none of my friends are very into health or fitness and no one understands how exciting this is. Last year I started working out for the first time in my life with a body fat % of 31%. Which is pretty unhealthy, especially because I wasn't overweight. I just had way too much fat on my body. As…

Restaurant potato chip calorie count?
How would you count the homemade potato chips (I'm American, so not french fries!) that come with a sandwich? I like to go to this little sandwich place near my house and they don't have calorie information anywhere. I brought half my meal home this time and weighed the chips at 1.5 oz., so a whole serving would be 3 oz.…

Sweat vs Calorie Burn?
Why do some exercises make you sweat more but burn less calories overall? I was sweating a ton riding the stationary bike (and lifting weights at the same time) but I don't sweat a lot on the elliptical. The elliptical burns way more calories than the bike. So why does the bike make me sweat more?

What do you do with your shame clothes?
I have A LOT of clothes that I can't fit into right now. Booo. Particularly jeans, since they don't offer as much give. I think I'm going to try on everything and put all the stuff I still love but doesn't fit right (or gives me love handles) in a bin under my bed until I lose more weight. What do you do with your shame…

Working Out When Sick
I workout with a trainer but I've had a bit of bad luck and just keep getting sick. I had a cold which got better but I think I got some post nasal drip because I'm having pretty bad sinus pressure and congestion. Ugh! I don't want to keep rescheduling my trainer, so I'm going to workout today anyway. I classify my…

Slowww weight loss. Is it because I'm at the end?
Hi Guys! I'm 5'8, 133 lbs. I am a recovering skinny fat person and still have about 10 lbs of fat to lose. I'm very small framed and I'm going more off body fat % than actual weight number. I was 125 lbs last summer and much closer to my body fat goal (around 18% body fat), but I've put on more muscle since then (weight…

Does it matter if you're over your fat g if it's healthy fat?
I am currently trying to eat less carbs and more protein. Not really low carbing, just trying to eat a lot of protein for my calorie allotment. I find that now I'm often over in my fat category! In example, I just bought Quest Protein Peanut Butter Cups - 240cal, 17g of fat but 20g of protein. It's these sorts of foods…

High Protein Meal Ideas
So I totally caved today and had pizza for lunch. There may have also been garlic knots. Not a huge amount, it still fit in my meal calories but my macros for the day were pretty much shot. All carbs, very little protein. I needed 71 more grams of protein to save it. I figured I wouldn't be able to do it in one meal but I…

What do you like about counting calories?
Everyone always complains about it, but let's list some positives about counting! I like that I can lose weight and eat chocolate and drink wine without sabotaging myself!

Exhausted after cardio?
I've been doing cardio 3-5 times a week for the last year and a half, with the exception of a few weeks for vacations, etc. I usually do the elliptical for 30 mins on weight training days and 1 hr on days I don't lift. I thought I'd get used to it, but after cardio I am soooooo exhausted. Today, I did my workout in the…

Carb Foods with Protein?
Does anyone have some really great typically carb-loaded foods that actually have a lot of protein in them? I could live solely off carbs, so I love finding good replacements. Post your favorites and where to get them! My favorite example are the Perfect 10 Bagels by Western Bagel. You can also order them online! 150…

Has anyone read The Abs Diet?
I'm reading the one for women and the recipes are awesome! It's not really a diet, it's a nutrition book on how to lower body fat percentage (and hopefully get abs!). But the recipes involve incorporating what he calls "power foods": * Almonds and other nuts * Beans and legumes * Spinach and veggies * Dairy * Instant…

Calories In, Calories Out Question?
So normally I eat healthy, hit my macros, and stay within my calories. Over the last couple weeks, I had quite a few days where I didn't eat healthy but I still stayed within my calories for the week. This would include Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, my birthday trip for three days. I didn't hit my macros…

Starbucks and The Sugar Drink Replacement
I don't like regular coffee. I'm not really a person who needs caffeine on a regular basis, but I do like to drink "fake" coffee drinks from Starbucks. This includes pumpkin spice lattes, vanilla lattes, peppermint mochas, etc. I became a little obsessed with these sugar drinks and started buying the VIA packets to make…

Am I trying to gain or lose?
Hi all, I'm a little confused on how to map out my goals. I'm a skinny fat person, 5'8, female, currently 136 lbs, small frame. I've been working out for a little over a year now. No idea what my exact body fat percentage is (I use a scale, I know it's not accurate), but probably around 25%. I want more muscle definition…

How to Food Scale?
I have never used a food scale, but I track my amounts by measuring everything as per the serving size on packaging. I see a lot of people recommending food scales for tracking, but how does that correlate to MFP where a lot of measurements don't seem to be by weight? Can someone explain this to me?

Does it matter how you divide up your weekly calories?
I am 5'8, female, 23 yrs old, and 137 lbs. GW is 125 but I'm really basing off more body fat % so it depends on how much fat I lose vs muscle I put on. I am a skinny fat person trying to get to about 18% body fat. I'm supposed to eat 1500 cal a day for 1 lb a week weight loss. I also exercise 3-5 times a week (weights,…

How does sodium affect weight loss?
Hi guys. I have a medical problem where I have extremely low blood pressure, so I am prescribed salt to raise it. I'm supposed to have twice as much salt as normal in order to keep from fainting. I know when losing weight, you are supposed to avoid sodium, but clearly my health comes first so I can't. How will this affect…

Motivation to Count Again
Hi everyone. I'm looking for some motivation. I have been a MFP user on and off for a few years. I am female, 23 yrs old, 5'8, and currently 139 lbs. I am small framed and want to be around the 125 lb range. My issue is that I will count for let's say, 8 months, get to my goal weight, get sick of counting, stop, gain it…
