Working Out When Sick

I workout with a trainer but I've had a bit of bad luck and just keep getting sick. I had a cold which got better but I think I got some post nasal drip because I'm having pretty bad sinus pressure and congestion. Ugh!

I don't want to keep rescheduling my trainer, so I'm going to workout today anyway.

I classify my sickness right now as able to go to work (and be a little miserable) but probably not able to do cardio (I get really light headed when sick).

Do you workout when you're sick if you can?

I've always heard that if the sickness is above your chest, you are okay to work out. Have no idea if it's true or not, and not sure I even follow it. Just throwing it out there.

If I'm sick and contagious I stay home, at least from the gym. I can always catch up later.

I took last week off with sinus/chest issues. I'm not all the way better (pretty sure that trying to run would put into an asthma attack... not something I usually have to deal with), so today I did some lifting and walking instead of my usual cardio day.
