Exercising with a shoulder issue?
I have had pain in my left shoulder for several years now. Last year, I visited the doctor and they found a bone spur in the joint and said it was likely from overuse. I was given a cortisone shot (which was hell), but it really helped with the pain. I was not able to continue with the recommended physical therapy because…

10+ years later, 15 pounds heavier, but waist 1" smaller
I have been on what seems like the never ending quest to weigh what I did before I had my first daughter in 2006. I never weighed more than 129 before I got pregnant with her. For some reason, I feel I will have "arrived" when I get back into the 120s on the scale. I have four daughters now and have gained and lost and…

Strong Curves Question - Want to lower hip measurement
Hi! I am starting to research lifting programs. I am not new to lifting weights, but haven't lifted heavy in a few years (did Jamie Eason's Live Fit Trainer a few summers ago). Anyway, I was looking into Strong Curves because of all the good things that have been said about it on this site. In looking at the testimonials…

Didn't expect this . . .
I have been gaining and losing baby weight for over a decade now. All during that time, I have refrained from buying a lot of clothing because I wanted to wait until I got back down to my "normal" size. I did a lot of thrifting and have some items that I actually really love. Well, I have lost close to 20 pounds since last…

Move to 1/2# a week or stick with 1#?
I have been debating on whether or not it is time to move to a lower weekly weight loss goal. I am 5'4" and weigh 140 pounds. My ultimate goal is 125. I have my settings set at lightly active with a 1# a week weight loss goal. I wear an apple watch to track my activity and have the negative calorie adjustment on in case I…

My 90 Day Results and Lessons Learned
Back at the end of December I decided to get a jump start on my weight loss journey. A little history. I have four children. All were high risk pregnancies. Which meant no physically activity while pregnant. All were emergency c-sections. Which meant a long recovery. My last pregnancy and recovery was by far the worse as I…

Five pounds of pure fat gone!
I began, or should I say restarted, my weight loss journey the week before Christmas. On December 22, I had an InBody Scan done to determine my body fat percentage vs. lean muscle mass. I have been consistently exercising 6 days a week and counting/weighing everything. I went back today and had another scan done. I am…

iOS negative calories adjustment - yes or no?
I was wondering if I should keep my negative calorie adjustment enabled. I use my Apple Watch to track my activity. Today, I logged 8,164 steps and earned 305 calories for a 51 minute cardio workout based on the built in HRM. I currently have a -60 calorie adjustment. Does that seem right? If it is, I'll keep it enabled.…

Stall after starting new workout program . . .
For those that have experienced a stall or even a gain after starting a new workout program, when did you see the scale start moving again? And when it did, did it drop a lot fast, or did it just start moving at the pace you would expect for your calorie deficit? I am two weeks in to an intense workout regimen and am…

How to count family style one pot meals?
How do you count these types of meals? For instance, I am making chicken noodle soup in my Instant Pot from homemade chicken broth for the family tonight. Tips for calculating the calories and serving size? Thanks!

Weigh meat before or after cooking?
I recently read that we should be weighing our meat before cooking. My problem with that is that I usually cook a lot at once and then eat it throughout the week. I weigh it before doing so, but is that affecting my calorie counts? What about when I cook a dinner for my family? It is not practical to try to weigh whatever…

Looking for active mama friends
I am looking for some moms to be friends with on here for mutual support and accountability. I just looked through my friends list and all my real life ones on here have gone inactive! TDEE-20% and Activity Tracker?
I have recently returned to MFP and have been reading a lot about using the TDEE-20% method. I was wondering how this method would work in conjunction with an activity tracker. I use my Apple Watch to track my steps and my calories burned during my workouts and then have it sync with MFP. It seems to me like the two…

Steps not matching up
According to my Apple watch I logged over 10,000 steps yesterday, but only 7,000 show up in MFP. Any thoughts or ideas on how to correct this and keep it from happening in the future?

NSV - Four weeks without missing a workout!
Okay, so four weeks ago, I decided that I was fed up with starting workout programs, but never finishing them. So I set myself a goal of getting through the first four weeks of TurboFire without missing a workout. Well, today I completed week four without missing a one! I even added weight lifting at the gym in several…

Starting Today . . . Again
So, fell off the wagon in a big way . . . again. I have been going through this since the birth of my first child seven years ago. I commit, go all out for a month or two and then slowly fall into horrible eating and not exercising again. It is not like I don't know what to do. My mother is a personal trainer and I grew up…

The Scale Lies!
I was so discouraged yesterday and today to see a 3 pound gain over the last week. I decided to get out the tape measure to see if my measurements had also gone up. Imagine my surprise to find that I am actually down 1.5 inches over the last 10 days! If you haven't already started measuring, get that tape out now!

FT60 or FT80 Polar HRM - strength program worth it?
Hi - I am trying to decide between the FT60 or FT80 Polar models. Can anyone tell me if they found the strength training aspect of the FT80 helpful? Does it work? Did it make a difference in your training/strength gains? TIA!

Recommend a Gym Weight Program to go with TurboFire
Can anyone recommend a gym based (not DVD based) weight lifting program/schedule to incorporate with TurboFire? I am planning to stick to the TurboFire of six workouts a week, but will replace her sculpt workout DVD with a gym workout, so I will actually only be doing five videos a week. I would like something that puts me…

Zumba Core for XBOX
Picked up Zumba Core for the XBOX on a whim this week. I have done other Zumba video games, but never really liked them because they seemed really basic. Well, not this one! OH.MY.GOODNESS. This is serious stuff. Harder than the Zumba classes at my gym. I wore my HRM for a 40 min session yesterday and today and each time I…

Torn Adductor Muscle Experiences?
Just looking for some advice from other people who have experienced a torn adductor muscle . . . I was going along REALLY well. Heading to Disney World on Friday
We are heading to Disney World on Friday and I am planning on still trying to log all of my food and to at least stay at my TDEE each day so I don't have a gain when I get home. Just ordered Turbo Fire and . . .
Turbo Fire was on sale for a great price this week, so I decided to order it. It will be arriving tomorrow and I am really excited to get started. Increasing Weight Question
Hi - I just started this program, though I am not new to lifting weights. I have a question about the progression of increasing our weight. Today I did dumbbell shoulder presses - 2 sets at 15 reps with 15# dumbbells. Now, on the third workout, I am supposed to do 2 sets at 12 reps. I highly doubt that I am going to be…

Calculating HRM Calories
I have a quick question about logging the calories from my HRM. I have been multiplying the number of minutes I workout by 1.25 (the number of calories MFP accounts for me burning each minute throughout the day) and then subtracting that from the readout on my HRM before logging exercise into MFP. For example. I just ran…
