can muscle relaxants actually cause other muscles to hurt/burn?
Seems like an odd question, I know. But, a few days ago I was trimming some trees, and either jerked or twisted the wrong way and my neck has been sore ever since. I did see a doctor and I am taking cyclobenzapine to relax the muscles. Ever since I started on those, I have been unable to jog for any real length of time…

I have a plan of attack. Just curious if it needs tweaked?
Sorry if this post gets too wordy, but I wanted to make sure I supplied enough information to get valid responses. My goal is to get down under 200. Then the final goal is 180. I am just looking for tips and advice on how to get there. I started this program in June, and I know it will take a long time, but would love to…

HEALTHY liquid diet
Hi guys.... I am looking for information, or personal experiences, that might help me out. Everything I eat lately makes me sick. I am on a list of foods to avoid. In addition to that I will be going in for nose and throat surgery next month. Until my throat heals, I will be on a liquid diet. SO, I thought I would just…

Are microwaves really bad for you, and your food?
I have read a few articles that talk about how microwaving your food can rob it of most of its nutritional value. I am not sure how much of it is true. But there are numerous sources, so it is hard to say. My problem is I work 10 hours shifts, at night, at a desk. So a stove top to heat/reheat really is not an option. Have…

What to eat, and when?
OK. I do not fall into a normal category when it comes to working, waking, and sleeping. I work nights. 7pm-530am. I am in bed by 6-630am. Up around 1030am. I walk when I am at work. around 8 or 9 pm, and again around 1 or 2 am. I have a stationary bike that I intend to start riding again, and that will be when I first…

Logged in for ???? days
Ok.. I was just curious who on this board has the highest number for consecutive days of logging in. I think I have seen someone with 400-500 or something. I was just curious who holds the "record"? I am only at 210ish :)

So, today's the day: Weight 257.4 Body fat 35.4% Water 49.4% Muscle 31.3% Bone 3.2% Kcal = 3546 BMI = 36.0 Can someone explain the Kcal to me?????? Had lost 57 pounds. 30 day shred.... have any guys done it?
I have the P90X program, but I know I am so out of shape it will be too difficult, and I will lose motivation. I would like to start with something not as intense. I have found the 30 Day Shred program, but not sure if it is geared more towards females. So, if any guys have done the program, and gotten results, I would…

Lost motivation.... Lost energy... Feel like a wuss
Ok, so I hurt my foot. maybe 2.5 weeks ago. For the first week I could hardly walk, so too much exercise was out of the question. Then a steel pole fell on that same foot, so I was out for another week.... It's been a few days now that I can walk normal. I've started back with walking at work, and re-started C25K. I do a…

Hurt my Foot!
So I did something to my foot last Thursday. Hurts to stand on it, or walk. Hurts to bend it up and down. X-rays show no break, so the Doc said it could be a hairline fracture, or a pulled/stressed muscle or tendon. I was on week 6 of C25K. I can not walk, or jog, or ride my bike. And a lot of my normal exercises require…

Sorry, but another calories burned question
I just completed C25K, week 5 day 3.. it is a brisk 5 minute walk, and a 20 minute jog with no breaks, followed by a 5 minute cool down walk... The pedemoter I have says 256 calories burned. MFP says, 20 minutes of jogging is 270 calories. The Heart Rate Monitor I was wearing says 480.1 cal's burned. The 256 and 270 I can…

P90X... I am starting it July 2nd. Any tips?
Hello MFP'ers I have been wanting to start P90X for a while. I looked over the fitness test, and I don't think I am quite ready for it yet as I don't meet some of the qualifications yet. Right now I am on week 4 of the C25K plan. I should be done with that by July. I know it is not easy, but was just looking for any tips,…

Pulled Muscle.. Workout options?
So I was moving some lumber, and paneling this weekend while emptying out a barn. I must have moved wrong, or lifted something wrong, cuz my left bicep hurts now when I use that arm. I took it easy Sunday, and felt fine this morning. When I tried to use the pull-up bar, it felt the same as Saturday. So, I know I need to…

PSA against bullying
Not sure if this is a good place to post this, but I wanted people to see it.. It is a great PSA about bullying and the effect it has on kids. The little girl that is the spokesperson is my great-niece. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pprIauH9M-Y

Lifting Question.
In an attempt to lose fat, and tone up.... I have always heard that it is better to use lighter weights, for more reps. But, to build muscle mass, use much heavier weights, even if you only do 6-8 reps. I want to lose fat, and gain some definition. Right now I do a "circuit" training program that works all the muscle…

Doing too much?
Hey all.. I work the night shift, 4pm-2am. I try to go for 2 walks while I am at work, 15-20 minutes each time. I also stand at my desk for at least 1/2 of my shift. I am just wondering if that is too much, when you add it to the rest of my day. Every morning 30 minutes on a stationary bike. (sometimes less, but I try for…

MFP vs. HRM vs. Ped
HI everyone. I just went for a 20 minute brisk walk. 3.5 mph My gps enabled pedometer said I burned 170.7 cals My HRM says I burned 316.2 cals. MFP says a 20 minute walk at 3.5 mph is 175 cals. I used the MFP value to be safe... What is more accurate? The HRM and Pedomter both had me enter age, hieght, weight, gender.

Weight training and c25k * alternating days.
Hi all.. Just wanted to get some opinions before I begin a new adventure. Right now I ride my stationary bike every morning, first thing, for 30 minutes. On Mon-Wed-Fri at noon I ride the bike for 5 minutes, do 30 minutes on a bowflex (every muscle group) and cool down with another 5 minutes on the bike. Tomorrow I am…

Calories VS. Kcal What is the difference?
My stationary bike reads off calories burned. But my HRM and my scale show me Kcal's. What, if any, is the difference?
-
What should I believe? pedometer, MFP, or HRM?
I have a pedometer app for my iPhone. it says when I walked 19 minutes, I burned 121 calories. On my break just now, I walked 16 minutes. MFP says that is 150 calories. The heart rate monitor I am wearing said that I burned 215.3 cals. Which should I trust?

Down 40. 61 to go
Hey all... I am so happy to have found this app. My wieght peaked at 281. I freaked. I was put on Diabetes medicine, High blood pressure medicine, cholesterol medicine. I could never stick to a diet plan. My doctor gave me Phentermine, and it worked great. Lost 20 lbs in about 3 months. But that was it. I would gain/lose a…

New exercise routine. Opinions?
OK... So i have a Bowflex that was in my basement. The problem of couse is "Out of Sight, Out of Mind". And, the only good it was doing downstairs was making a good clothes rack. So, I moved it upstairs, and put it where it is easier to see... and use. I researched online for the best way to do a FAT-LOSS routine. Of…
