Hello all...just checking everyone is still alive and either fallen from their diet plans or is doing really well?

Losing weight when it's cold
It's so cold in Sydney - it's down to around 4c at night and 10-14c in the day. I'd made a load of tasty clear vegetable soup...and I've only eaten one. I feel like something more solid and substantial. So I'm eating the prepped dinners for lunch, still only around 300 calories. So success is not having to stick to plans,…

Apologies....life got the better of me!
I realised the only way to do this is with some serious food prepping. So yesterday, I gathered all those take-away containers together and filled each with some meat, or fish or some chicken balls I found. Whacked in a small portion of Quinoa, mash or rice and filled the rest of the container with a variety of veg. Now,…

Monday weigh in...be honest and tell us how you're doing!
Good morning everyone from Sydney. It's Monday morning here and I'm being proactive. I weighed in at 120kg (that's nearly 265lb - yikes). I found an app on my phone to measure steps and went a quick 1km walk (I have a knee injury). I've just written out a weight calendar so each week I can see my progress. Go hop on those…

How many calories per day?
I find most 'calorie calculators' to be a bit generous with the daily calories. WebMD is a little more on the ball for a half-kilo/1lb loss per week "1,200 to 1,500 calories a day for women and 1,500 to 1,800 calories a day for men" Personally, there's nothing quite as motivating as shifting the initial flubber quickly.…

Wanted - determined, but often thwarted, weight loss buddies who're SERIOUS about losing flubber
Hellooooooo! I'm not new....I've been trying to lose the weight for years - so here's a group that might help this be your last diet ever! I've been thinking about what works for me, and it's accountability. So I'm looking for a group of determined people who'll commit to a weekly 'check-in' with each other on weight. The…

Stuck & not losing...ideas of how to nudge those scales down please
Fourth week of diet, I'd started well and now those scales are stuck on 115kgs. I'm counting every calorie, sticking between 1000 to 1200cals per day and have been stuck at 115kgs for 8 days now. It should be falling off quickly at this point in my diet. I don't want to drop my calorie intake more as then I wouldn't be…

Cutting those calories from Indian dishes...
I'm Erika, and I've been away from MFP for a loooong time, but back with determination. I'm not in India...or from India, but I usually cook many dishes from India and I'm wondering how I can modify these to do without the roti/rice and reduce the pulses. Currently living on plain veg and salad, but thoughts of chole…

Best breakfast?
I made myself some healthy mueseli - rolled oats, a few pepitas, sunflower seeds, goji berries & ginger and having 60 GM's with a spoon of yoghurt. Holy crumpet...I just saw the calories in oats! I lost 5kg in the first week, and zero in the 2nd :( I calorie counted pretty well, apart from the oats because the food lists on…

Loose saggy skin...tips?
I'm starting to lose the pounds, but as I'm 53yrs old, have had twins, abdominal surgery and have been pretty large, I know my skin isn't exactly going to fit snugly to my reducing body. Has anyone got any suggestions for firming and toning the loose skin or are you just stuck with it?

Looking for diet buddies in India!
Not that I'm in India... or even Indian. But I've gone (mostly) vegie & no one does vegetarian food quite as brilliantly as India - I just need recipes that don't involve 5 litres of ghee! Though saying that, I am about to start my PhD on Indian sustainability policy & will be heading over there at some point. So if you'd…

Who's doing the 5:2 (fast) diet..or is interested in it?
I'm a bit of a geek, so I love the fact that the 5:2 diet (BBC Horizon) has evidence of other health benefits above and beyond losing weight. I'm one week into it & going well, but those 'fast' days are killers! I like to keep things simple but would love to share ideas on surviving those 500 calorie days. I'm also taking…

Castle Hill/Kellyville anyone...old sloth needs help exercising!
I'm a week into the 5:2 diet (BBC Horizon) & going well, but I'm useless at motivating myself to exercise - there always seems to be something more important to do! Hopefully there's a small handful of us from the Castle Hill/Kellyville area that could do a brisk walk together weekly, get fit & have some fun along the way.…

Hello fellow geeks!
With a natural love of science, my obvious choice of diet is the 5:2 (BBC Horizon) diet...so, I need all my superpowers to keep me from food (my kryptonite) on fast days...and some geeky friends will definitely help!

Gallstones!
I was SO pleased with the 9kg I'd lost...then discovered rapid weight loss is not the gallbladders friend. I've postponed cholecystetomy so I can lose weight slowly (that's the plan). Has anyone suffered similar or have any advice re: diet and gallstones???

Reversing Type 2 Diabetes - new research Newcastle Uni
For those trying to lose weight to improve diabetes or reduce the risk of getting it, this might prove a very interesting link. Just stood growling at my fat....dog looks concerned
...now it knows I mean business (my fat, not the dog!) My kids have seen it all before and that's why I really can't fail this time. I reckon there must be sooooo many consecutive diet failures on these boards and if we all got together to give each other some stern words when we deviated off the path that leads to slim…

I guarantee to give you a laugh...
Yes, my life is chaotic, insane and many have said that knowing me has made them feel a whole lot better about their own lives! I've been on a diet for exactly 1.5hrs every Monday for the last few years. I realised it was time to really do something about it when my daughters stuck up about 30 posters around the house…
