Alopecia and diet
Has anyone here with alopecia areata had success with dietary changes? I have heard ancedotes about eliminating gluten or processed food, etc, but never a first-person account. Of course my doctor says food and allergies have nothing to do with autoimmune reactions, but that makes no sense to me at all. Curious if anything…

Bodyfat Experiment: Dexa and Hydrostatic Same Day
Thought this might be interesting for the numbers folks! I did both Dexa and Hydrostatic today. Dexa: 22%, Hydro 15%. The dunk tank comes to our gym regularly and I always suspected it reads me low because of my solid bones. I’m currently on a modest cut trying to make weight for a lifting meet and then I’ll make new goals.

Body fat % in women
Reaching out to the best forum in MFP! Have you badass women done much bodyfat testing? I'd love to see more pictures of female athletes and their various bf%. The photos online are either oiled/tan bodybuilders in competition or non-athletes, and so I have a hard time understanding what the numbers mean. What percent do…

Are your calorie needs the same on LCHF?
I know I will just have to wait and see what happens for me, but I am curious if in your experience LCHF has merely made it easier to limit calories by reducing cravings and increasing consistency, or if you actually feel like your body is running differently. Are most of you counting carbs AND calories? My main goal is…

Finally RX'ed a WOD with push-ups!
I started in January and usually scale at least one movement, but today I decided to go for it. My last set of push-ups was eeked out 5 then 1 at a time, but I made it more a full minute under the time cap! (18:52) I was soooo excited. Knew you guys would understand! METCON: 30-20-10 Power Clean (95/65) Wall Ball (25/15)…

NSV! Turned some pie into muscle.
I gained almost 10 pounds over my long and decadent holiday season starting in October, but made sure I did really heavy strength workouts 3x per week in the hopes that I could turn the extra calories into muscle- a wishful and disorganized bulk if you will. I took a selfie yesterday while bored on the train and was…

NSV: My eyes love my healthy food.
My opthamologist did a test this morning to measure the pigments in my eyes that protect against macular degeneration. She said mine are much higher than average, and she can tell I eat a lot of leafy greens and colorful produce! No vitamins needed; no worries about my future eye health. This is especially important…

Fall Red Pants Challenge! Who's in?
Several of my MFP pals and I have hit a slump in kitchen motivation and have been sliding into the comfort foods of fall. Turns out, a lot of us also have really cute red pants that don't quite fit. They go on, they button, but there is a bit too much squeeze to really wear them. I have adorable J. Crew tomato-colored wool…

Question for women with awesome arms
I saw this woman last night with the most awesome arms! I could see her muscles, especially her shoulders, while she just stood there. I now have a goal "look" in mind. I want the defined shape when my arms are just hanging around, not flexing. I'm slowly working towards my goal weight and am getting stronger. I eat at a…

I promised myself bikini progress pics!
Not quite to goal yet, but I promised myself I would post pictures in May no matter what, so here goes! Kind of wish I had fixed my hair, put on makeup and moved the dog dishes for a more glamorous look, but oh, well. MFP has totally changed my ability to take charge of my weight and fitness. Logging and accountability are…

Inner hip/groin pain?
I started having a nagging pain months ago that only really bothered me when I would do stretches such as butterfly. I recently started working on flexibility more, and it's bothering me a lot now. Not muscle pain, definitely connective tissue. I never had an "injury moment" just started noticing the pain. It doesn't hurt…

NSV: Something is wrong with my boots!
They have been feeling weird all day, and I just realized that they have always been tight around my legs and they are loose now! Guess it's time for new boots. :drinker:

Progress pics! 5'7" 155-145
I figured out the photos! They are terrible quality, but oh, well. If you want to read anything about my process, It's after. Hope it's helpful! I'm 33 years old and 5'7". I dabbled around on MFP all fall, bouncing between a few pounds. I started tracking every day January 2, 2013, weighing 153. Measurements (Jan 2-Feb 19)…

Women who want to lift in Sacramento?
I want to start lifting after the new year, maybe doing Stronglifts or a similar program after getting a training session or two. I don't want to shell out the dough to go to a crossfit or lifting gym, since I already have a cheapo 24 Hour Fitness membership. Anyone else go to the downtown club and want to be beginners in…

NSV- Push-ups and Pull-up machine
I have been doing the 100 push-up challenge app on my phone. My first test was only 12 push-ups, and yesterday I tested at 25! I'm up to 85, broken into 5 sets. Can't wait to hit that 100. I also moved from 100 pounds of help on the assisted pull-up machine to 80 pounds. I'm getting stronger!

Cardio with a wrenched knee
I wrenched my knee and am having pain walking and standing. Any exercise ideas? I have a gym membership. I know I can do the nautilus weights, and I think I might still be able to do push ups. Swimming is out. I'm used to going on an epic run or bike ride to balance out my holiday food. I need to burn some serious calories…

I jumped the gun...
Some of my old, too small clothes fit again, but the dress I'm wearing today is definitley still too tight for work! Eek. I got excited to wear it, but now I'm feeling a little uncomfortable! :embarassed: I guess I'll hang it back up and use it as a goal. I'll post again once I can wear it without it looking painted on.…
