Does this count?
I deadlifted 175lbs today, BUT, I had to take a breather between reps. I did two reps consecutively, and then the next three with about a 30 second rest between each. Does that count as a successful lift? I know for a fact that I won't be able to go up to 180lbs next time, so should I stay at 175 until I can complete all 5…

Squatting is a pain in my hip
More specifically, my left hip flexor. I'm currently squatting 115lbs and adding 5lbs every TWO workouts (to give myself a little extra time to get used to the weight). I understand the muscles around my hips are a little weaker than they should be, since before starting SL, I had been doing chair squats instead of full…

3 Days a Week or Every Other Day?
I've been doing my lifting on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule, but it leaves me a little bored on the weekends... Is that extra day off really essential, or can I just lift every other day sequentially? So instead of M/W/F, M/W/F, M/W/F, I would lift M/W/F/Su/T/Th/Sa/M/W/F... and so on. Thanks!

Add ons?
Does anyone else add on a few more exercises at the end of their workout? I just started SL, so I'm still lifting light and my workouts are only lasting about 30 min, so I've been adding push ups, calf raises, lat pull downs, etc. (I usually just add 2 exercises) to the end of my routine. I'm coming off the NROLFW program,…

Periodization Lifting??
Hi, I'm just about to start my final stage of New Rules of Lifting for Women, and I'm trying to find a new routine/lifting regimen to begin after I complete it. I've heard many recommendations on MFP for Stronglifts 5x5, and I've also heard good things about Starting Strength. I talked to the owner of my gym (he's really…

Flying Phobia Help
Hi, I'll be flying out to Portland in September to visit some old classmates and do the whole Octoberfest thing in Mt. Angel, OR. I'm really looking forward to it, BUT in the past few years I have developed a major phobia of flying :ohwell: I've done quite a bit of flying in my lifetime (several trips to Europe, Canada,…

NSV cat-called lol
Was feeling a little low for not losing any weight this past week (but not too low, since I didn't gain any either). But while I was walking my dog through the neighborhood last night with my new HRM (which I LOVE, and I think will really motivate me to get out and exercise more!), I got wolf-whistled at by a couple of…

Can I use egg substitute in this???
Clipped a recipe out of the local paper today for a Cottage Cheese Pie that sounded like something I'd like. I'm planning on making it without the crust (I really don't care about pie crust, unless it's made of cookie crumbs); so it should be more of a custard. The filling calls for 2 whole eggs and 2 egg yolks. My…

Creme Brulee(ish)
I saw a recipe on skinnytaste for a mock creme brulee that involved fruit preserves, greek yogurt, and caramelized sugar and I thought that it sounded halfway decent and that I would try it out. BUT I didn't have any greek yogurt on hand and I didn't feel like doing a grocery store run, so I looked in the pantry and I DID…

Hit my goal! Before and After Pics
So... My biggest inspiration when I joined MFP was seeing other peoples' before and after pics. I recently reached my goal of 133 (and surpassed it!) so I decided that I should post my pics in the hopes that they help inspire someone else. This wasn't the easiest decision because it's a bit painful to look at the before…

Any Fellow Equestrians Out There?
Hi, I just joined yesterday and I'm really excited about this site. I thought it would be neat to have some friends that can relate to my daily activities - mainly horse based. I grew up riding western, but then when I bought my own horse (an of the track TB) I switched to english. I also have volunteered at a therapeutic…

Question about Net Calories
I just joined today, so I'm not quite sure how this works... When you earn extra calories by exercising, are you supposed to eat that much more or is it alright to just stay at your original caloric goal? For example: My Daily Goal today was 1200 calories. I just got back from the gym and logged 20 minutes on the stair…

This time it's Staying Off
Just joined today, and I'm already excited about this site. It seems very easy to use, and I'm delighted to see all the positive tips and messages posted by other users. I've lost weight before and gradually gained it back, but this time I'm in it for the long haul. Good luck to everyone else, may we all reach our goals!…
