Advice for hot pilates?
Hey all, My favorite yoga studio just started offering hot pilates. I find that group fitness classes keep me more motivated and have more accountability than just hitting the treadmill, so I want to check it out. But I am nervous. I've never done hot yoga or hot pilates. What can you tell me about the experience? What…

Anyone doing PiYo?
Is anyone currently doing PiYo? I started the program a few months ago and fell in love with it! However, I did not finish. I could give you the excuse about how I'm a teacher and was really busy, but I really just lacked the commitment ;) I'm trying to take summertime to reset my habits, and I'm getting back into the…

Whole30?
I want to hear from anyone who has completed Whole30? How successful was it for you in regards of both weight loss and positive lifestyle changes? How difficult was it? I'm off work for another week and want to use this time to stock the freezer with healthy and filling low-cal dinners before heading back to work in January. Healthy snacks!!
I'm sure this gets posted a lot, but I need easy and healthy snack ideas! I'm a teacher and usually spend 10-12 hours at school. I need to pack some healthy snacks because if I leave school hungry, I'm going through the drive thru and then all bets are off! What are your favorite healthy and easy to pack snacks? :)

Slow cooker casseroles
I recently received the Crock Pot Casserole as a wedding gift. I'm super excited because it's a more shallow dish. When I'd make layered dishes in my regular slow cooker, they would get burnt on the outsides and not cooked to my liking on the inside. I'm already planning to try out a turkey lasagna tomorrow. Also, I'm a…

Going gluten-free for migraines?
I'm in the midst of reading "The Migraine Miracle" by Josh Turknett. So far, it's describing my life since late childhood... plagued by unpredictable and debilitating migraines and having narrowed down few triggers. I've missed concerts, days of work, spent vacations throwing up, and slept on my bathroom floor during my…

Nauseous in hot yoga?
I love hot yoga and Baptiste yoga. I burn a lot of calories, get a really diverse work out and feel relaxed after class. I also get to see way more improvements in the way my body moves compared to just hopping on the elliptical. That said, I got pretty sick during my hot class last night and had to excuse myself from the…

Newbie yogi :)
Hey all, I'm fairly new to yoga. I dabbled in it a bit in college but I've been hitting it hard at my local studio for the past several months. I've already seen a great improvement in the way I feel not to mention the way that I move. Just today I managed to get my feet off the ground for the first time in crow pose and…

Yogis help!
I have fallen in love with hot yoga and hot pilates. There is a fantastic studio in my town that has awesome teachers and lots of different class times. Ketogenic diet?
I am attempting a ketogenic diet (low carb, high fat) in hopes of curing my migraines. I've been on pills since I was 12 to prevent migraines and none have worked. I've got nothing to lose in giving this diet a shot, but I stand to gain a lot. I'm limiting my carb intake to about 100 grams a day. Today I "cheated" when my…

Cold weather meals!
I live in metro Atlanta but grew up in the south part of Georgia near the ocean. The low on Monday night is supposed to be 4 degrees. It's supposed to snow tomorrow afternoon and that morning... I've only seen flurries twice in my life. So, what are you favorite cold weather recipes? Bonus points for anything that is…

Paleo entertaining?
I offered my home up for a holiday get together with some coworkers this weekend. One of my good friends from work is having a tough time with food allergies. She has had to eliminate a lot of foods from her diet and slowly add them back to determine what is causing her adverse reactions. I don't want her to feel leftover…

Cake calories?
My boyfriend's birthday is this weekend. He's requested a classic yellow cake with chocolate icing. I'm not too concerned about this wrecking my progress... I'll work out a little longer and fit it into my calories. That said, I purchased Pillsbury Moist Supreme Classic Yellow mix. The box says I can sub four egg whites…

Favorite restaurants?
What are your favorite restaurants for healthy choices? I hate having to find the one not-awful dish at a restaurant. Of course we still have to be vigilant about food choices no matter where you eat, but what restaurants can you be confident in your decisions? Desk eating
I'm guilty of desk dining for lunch almost every day, but this week looks like it will be worse. I'm a journalist and since our newspaper had some layoffs, I'm covering, well, everything. I've got a few days this week when I'll come in around 11 a.m. and stay through late meetings which puts me leaving anytime between 9…

Help with strength
I know I need strength training in my exercise routine to get any results, but I have no clue where to start. Ideally, I would do 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength three times a week, but I'm not even sure what my goals should be or what's realistic. I work out at the gym in my apartment complex. It's pretty…

What do you snack on?
I'm sure this gets asked all the time, but what are your favorite low cal/negative cal snacks? I sit at a desk for most of my day. I usually make it to lunch just fine without snacking. I'll grab a snack around 2:30 - 3 p.m. It's usually a fruit I've packed, but then I find myself starving again before dinner. Coming home…

Registered for my first race!
Just thought I'd share... I've attempted Couch to 5K twice before and never made it past week three. I think it was a combination of lacking motivation and not going out of my way to fit the runs into my schedule. But, I've registered for my first 5K as motivation! I'll be doing Color in Motion on Nov. 15 in Atlanta...…

How do you use spinach?
I love spinach. I mean, I really love spinach. And sometimes I buy too much. I have a bag in my fridge that is threatening to go bad quickly. What do you eat for breakfast?
I'm a Slimfast fan. By no means am I technically on the Slimfast diet, but I like the convenience of the shakes for breakfast and the nutrition. I can grab it, drink it on the way to work and be full until lunch. However, it's killing my sugar intake! I am not a morning person by any means. It's highly unlikely that I'm…

Low calorie slow cooker recipes?
Hey all, I only cook for myself, so at the end of the work day cooking an entire meal for only one person to enjoy seems like a daunting task.
