Yogis help!

I have fallen in love with hot yoga and hot pilates. There is a fantastic studio in my town that has awesome teachers and lots of different class times. I find that I feel much better after these workouts than after hopping on the treadmill, and I actually look forward to it.

My mother gave me a nice yoga mat for Christmas. It's the perfect thickness to double as a yoga and pilates mat. That said, I have a lot of trouble with slipping during class, particularly the hot classes. I've been using a bath towel and it makes somewhat of a difference, but it doesn't give me a good connection to the mat and causes problems for balancing poses.

Any suggestions for preventing slipping but still keeping a firm connection to the mat? :ohwell:

I use yoga mat towels but I don't think they're much different from bath towels, just sized better to fit a mat. They seem to scrunch up less. They might be a little thinner. Maybe ask your instructors what they recommend. Sometimes, they want you to strengthen your feet and hand grip instead of using a prop between you and the mat.

With balancing poses, they're harder on a thicker mat/towel.
