1-1/2 years later
Hi all. I haven't been on here for a bit (few months) so I thought I'd come on by give a little update I didn't start off very heavy - I was 165 at 5'6" in December of 2013- but it was still too heavy for me. I lost 5lb quite quickly and decided that I wanted to slow that loss down (didn't realise it was probably water…

Pain in heel of hand
Hi all. I wanted to see if there was anything I could do about the pain that I get in the heel of my hand when doing the OHP (primarily in my left hand). I don't know how to change this or if there is anything I can do.

Why your goal should be your lifestyle and not weight loss
Excerpt: You must wrap your brain around this. This is not about weight loss. This is not about “getting in shape.” This is about lifestyle overhaul. This is about changing who you are. Fitness is not a list of actions. It is someone you become. Work on becoming a fitness-focused person, and reap the benefits. article link

Hunger
I've spent the last few months figuring out my TDEE but haven't been able to lift more than 2x a week until recently, which meant that I wasn't able to really move up in weights and wasn't feeling particularly hard worked. I've now gotten to the point where I'm doing Stronglifts 3x a week and at a challenging level (for…

Half-way there
I've been selected to be a success story in the blogs at Eat More 2 Weigh Less site and thought I'd post it here too (that has more pics and a bit more of my story). I joined MFP a few years ago and did a very aggressive deficit and lost about 20 lbs. Unfortunately, I didn't learn how to eat the right way due to this and…

Quite pleased
I've been writing in the forums of the EM2WL website (personal journals) but thought I'd share here. While I haven't been eating at a major deficit while trying to lose weight (I went down to 1600 for a short period at the beginning) mainly because I love food and found the whole TDEE method (so moved up to 1880), I…

A little "self-help"
I posted this in my blog but thought I'd share here too. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I work with clients of all ages who deal with anxiety, depression and other issues. One of the big ones that many people seem to struggle with is emotional eating. I get this. I've done this. One thing that I decided to do as I…

Figuring out a new TDEE
For the last few months I feel like I've done a good job at doing a small cut and losing weight, then when I broke a rib, staying at maintenance. I'm now going to be adding more exercise/being on my feet more as field hockey season has begun... My old week before I broke a rib: walk dog 30 min daily, lift 5x5 3x/wk, light…

Hahahahaha!
Oh, silly man. I was doing a tricep push-down and a guy told me that I didn't need to use such a heavy weight setting. He pointed out a weight about 20lbs lighter and that it was enough for me to use that weight. Note, he didn't say anything about my form, which was fine...just that a heavy weight wasn't "necessary". Silly…

My recent blog post on comfort eating
I'm a CBT therapist and I write about all sorts of things. A colleague of mine wrote an article about comfort eating and I thought I'd share a bit of what she wrote (she's a specialist in working with people with eating issues). I definitely applied all that I wrote about to myself and it's helped.…
