Another article about sugars.
http://sweetscam.com/myths-and-facts/ It's just one article. Please take it with a grain of salt (mmmm...sweet and salty!) But if it's believable then I know I was wrong about some things.

experienced opinon on this "The Toning Myth" article
Just curious: http://www.scoobysworkshop.com/mythtoning.htm The Toning Myth "I just want to do a toning workout" "What's a good toning exercise for ..." If I hear either of these phrases uttered again I will scream! There is no such thing as a toning exercise! "Toning" is an imprecise and dangerous term and its not just an…

the nutrition of mushrooms
I grew up hating mushrooms. I was also told there is no point in eating them because they contain no nutrition what so ever. http://health.learninginfo.org/nutrition-facts/mushrooms.htm I do eat them in my salads now. I still think they taste like dirt but I eat them!

HRM for 24 hours
I have never done this before but figured since my HRM seems to be a good one I would try it. I wore it for about 24 hours. My HR signal messed up last night so I missed about 5 minutes. And I paused it and took a shower this morning - too scared of killing the HRM. The time total came to 23 hours so I just counted 60…

Just some interesting information. How Many Calories Are You Really Burning? If you think running and walking both torch the same number of calories per mile, you better put down that cookie. By Amby Burfoot From the September 2005 issue of Runner's World A few months ago I got into an argument with someone who's far…

30 day shred and HRM
Ok. I did my first day of the 30 day shred and had my HRM on. According to the HRM, the activty lasted 28 minutes (that's when I turned it off). It said (after subtracting my 'resting calories burned') I burned 299 calories. I'm 130 pounds. Does this sound right? MFP has my BMR at 1520 and I chose Sedentary because I have…

Is Raw Agave Syrup Really Raw?
Just an article I happen to come across. Not trying to push anything and I don't know how valid the article is but I thought it was interesting: http://www.living-foods.com/articles/agave.html (I like the part about Agave being used to make tequila. I wouldn't mind finding some raw agave and testing that one). I think I…

Fibromyalgia medication
This is sort of a success story. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at the end of August 2010. It is a mild form. I feel for the people with severe Fibromyalgia. I had been hurting on and off for years. Always feeling achy, tired. Muscles, joints, my whole body. I suffered from ear pain, sinus issues, headaches, etc. My…

non-nutritive sweeteners
Just a blog from 2008 but it's nice to read a more neutral article. But it's food (with no calories) for thought. Question on Cooking in Olive Oil
I have a question that I hope can be answered. How would you log what you cook in? My man seared some sliced steak and onions last night in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I'm not sure how I could log that. I'm sure the meat soaked up a little of the olive oil but not all of it. By the way, the meat went into a whole grain…

Beef vs. Venison
I just have to post this. My man is a hunter and I was griping at him last night because of all the venison we have in our freezer and I'm trying to eat healthier. I worry about too much red meat. http://livefitblog.com/2008/11/10/venison-for-nutrition-and-health/ Vension is healthier than chicken and beef and pork! (The…

Timex T5G971 HRM
I'm still not sure on this Timex HRM. I did a one minute test - just to see. If I just sit here and breath to keep my heart rate down I burn 3 calories a minute. My resting heart rate is between 85-95. I'm 5'2" and 130 pounds. I know this isn't the same for every minute in the day but my average seems to be 3-4 per minute.…

Burned calories correct?
I did the JD Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism for the first time yesterday. I couldn't finish it. I got about 33 minutes (including warm up and cool down). My HRM shows I burned 405 calories and that's minus resting calories. My heart rate got up to 190 at one point (my average was 156). Could this be right? I know the Timex…

My birthday!!!
Today is my 40th birthday so I am not worrying today! I'm still logging my food but not going to worry about how many calories at dinner and not exercising. I'm even being lazy at work! At least I have decided against going out to dinner. My birthday dinner: Lobster tail (yes there will be melted butter involved!) Venison…

Fiber and apples!
Amazing. I just read an older post regarding getting enough fiber. One person wrote that she eats Fiber One Bars and apples and they really help her stay regular (yes it's gross - constipation was being discussed but we are all humans and this happens to all of us!). Well, I don't eat Fiber One Bars due to the sugar…

HRM calories burned
I just bought an HRM. (chest strap/wrist watch). I have left it on all day at work just to see what happens. Wow! The pedometer wasn't doing me justice and I think that's why my weight isn't really budging. I have a desk job but I get up and walk around a lot. I wear my MBT shoes and I take at least one 15 minute BRISK…

dinner largest meal
Dinner is my largest meal of the day. My question is: how much of an impact will this have on losing weight? I'm staying within my calorie range that MFP gave me but I just can't eat heavy during the day. I'm usually sitting at my desk eating. I try to get in plenty of walking while at work. I can easily get in around…

Yay! Down 3 pounds
I really need to make sure I weigh myself in the mornings! Yesterday evening the scale said 130. This morning it said 126.5. Considering my goal was only 10 pounds and I was 130 on November 6th - I'm getting somewhere. I think it's pretty good for a sugar addict. Still fighting the sugar too. Heck, I had a reuben sub and…

calories burned (each calculator gives a different number)!!
I swear, each calories burned calculator I have tried has given me a different number for the same thing. And all of these are different than what my pedometer shows and my treadmill shows. My treadmill is just basic so I don't trust those numbers. My weight goes into my pedometer but that is going by the number of steps.…
