off topic: tipping? your opinion.
we went to a frozen yogurt bar tonight (which was *very* yummy). it's totally self-service: you go in, grab a cup, put your yogurt in and add any toppings you would like. then you take it up to the register, set it on a weigh machine, and someone rings you up. on the receipt it had a place to add a tip. now, at a…

not losing any weight....
but...i've lost 6.5 inches, primarily off of my stomach and hips! screw the scale. i'm just going to keep chugging right along - it is *so* going to happen for me! :smokin:

and i thought i was getting better at this...!
i'm been working my c25k for a while, and i finally completed it. i can jog the entire 5k and i have been working on decreasing my time for the last few weeks. i have been working on a treadmill and an outdoor track. this morning i decided to give it a go in our neighborhood - ouch! way more challenging! i mean, what is…

Gym Etiquette <rant>
i was in step class today, and there was a woman there who really ticked me off. apparently, a lot of the women there knew her, though i don't recall ever seeing her in this particular class. i hope she decides not to come back. the step class i attend is pretty complicated and choreography driven, in addition to being a…

Rededication
'ello, everyone! so, i've been at this for a while now - mfp shows as of november 2009, but i actually didn't become active until about september of 2010. so here's my deal - i love working out, and i have no problem getting to the gym, but i have been getting really slack with my eating habits. i am a total junk-a-holic…

just went shopping...
in my closet! i have a whole bin of summer things that i put away last year because i couldn't wear anything. i tried on everything, and for the most part, everything fits well or is too loose! there are a couple of tops that are a bit snug, but i think that by april or may they will be fine. i was *so* excited! very happy…

Progress Pics....21 Pounds Down
so, i have lost 21 pounds and have been holding for several weeks. i'm eating well and exercising consistently. i get pretty bummed at the scale and had my husband hide it from me, because even though the number is not going down, i am totally losing inches and firming up. with all of that said, i decided to share a couple…

thoughts on weight loss goal due dates...
so, i've had my new year's goal (193 pounds) and my valentine's goal (183) up on my signature since...i guess around early november. i have not either of these goals (hanging true at 196). i decided today to keep my goal weights, but drop the due dates. i've been eating well and exercising consistently, so i feel like i…

darn that blasted scale!
i decided last wednesday that i would not look at my scale until march 1. so how many days has it been? 9? and i peeked. so much for will power, right? anyhoo, the scale was up by nearly 3 pounds since my lowest weigh-in. now, rationally, i know that there is no way that i have consumed enough calories to pack on 3 pounds…

sizing pictures?
i'm having a *very* hard time posting a picture. technically, it's not a pic - it's an excel chart saved as a jpg file. i've uploaded it to photobucket and can make it appear on the boards, but the size is waaaay to small to actually read. i've tried resizing it in excel, paint and photobucket, but nothing is making it…

i've *so* got this!
just came back from c25k training and (drumroll please).....i jogged for 25 minutes solid! i actually jogged for 26 minutes - i threw in an extra minute just to spite the treadmill - and then i followed it up with a few 2 minute intervals at a faster pace. so i finished my 5k today in under 40 minutes, which is a first. i…

ticked off and ranting (you've been warned)
i am certified to be a teacher, but am unemployed except for a part-time nanny gig i have in the afternoons. in the summer it is full time, but it's only a couple of hours each day during the school year. i didn't go to work yesterday because i was sick, and i'm still sick. i don't think it would be smart of me to hang out…

great workout music!
if you don't have the program 'audacity', download it! you can change the tempo of any song to be as fast as you want for working out. this was a Godsend for me, because i'm not big into pop-ish music...i'm more of a grunge type. i work out harder when i have minor keys, loud guitars and really drumming (not synthesized)…

how bad is this cheating...?
so, for weigh in today i'm up .8 of a pound. i was expecting that, so i'm not terribly bummed - that's actually much better than was i was expecting! i don't mind telling people, including mfp and my husband and friends, etc. i'm not in denial, or trying to hide it. but...i *really* don't want to plug it into my check-in…

Calling All Non-Moms Again!
We had a really strong start, but the blog has dwindled down to 4 users, including myself. I'm thinking we should try to just keep this thread going and post our successes and ideas and challenges and all here - maybe it will be easier since it will automatically file to your 'my topics' link. And thanks to ickybella for…

i didn't jog for 10 minutes...
i jogged for ELEVEN minutes solid! so proud of myself. and afterwards, i followed it up with two segments of 7.5 minutes of jogging, alternated between 3 minute walking segments. that put my total jogging time to a little over 25 minutes out of my 42 minute c25k routine! i'm on cloud 9 right now! YAY!!!

canned vegetable sodium?
is the crazy sodium in canned vegetables what they are packed in? if you rinse your veggies and heat them up in plain water does it improve the sodium content at all?

so...how serious is knee pain...?
my left knee has been giving me a bit of trouble. nothing sharp or excruciating, but very stiff and sore. it generally shows up after (not during) a workout, hangs around most of the day but decreasing in intensity, and is gone by the next morning. right now, i'm still trying to do my usual since it's not exactly hindering…

calling all non-moms!
hey peoples! i'm wondering if there is anyone out there who would be interested in starting a group for non-moms! the reason i would like to do so is that it seems like many women on here losing are losing post pregnancy weight. well, i don't have that excuse...i'm just losing the weight that my, myself and i put on,…

need comfort, support and a good kick in the *kitten*, please.
yep. i just consumed 2 packs of swiss cake rolls and nearly an entire can of pringles. yes. i did. and i drank soda. and now i feel like crap (suprise, suprise, right?). not only can i feel it just sitting in my stomach and waiting to adhere to my stomach at the first opportunity, but i feel like i have been defeated by my…

treadmill cheat sheet!
here's a great link to a chart with treadmill speeds and times beginning at 3.0 all the way up to 12.0. it also give estimated times for completing different goals (mile, 5k, marathon, etc) and conversions from kilometers to miles. very helpful if you are trying to figure out how to run like me. i like the c25k program,…

need c25k advice, please...
i started c25k last spring and hit a brick wall at week 4. so, i was out for the count for a while. since august 25th, i have been taking a ton of classes at the gym, which i love. they are huge calorie blasters and have really improved my endurance. last week, i randomly hopped up on a treadmill just to toy with the idea…

boobie question...!?
okay...a head's up for a little TMI, but i'm going to ask anyways! so, i was about to go to bed last night, and i sleep naked. before i laid down, i did a little back stretch, kind of downward-dog-esque, and i got a good look at my boobs hanging down. they looked skinny and hangy! not like my boobs at all! i was…

i ran for 5 minutes solid!
i know, not a big deal to a lot of people, but for me, this was a HUGE accomplishment! i started up c25k last spring and pretty much hit a road block when i had to run for 5 minutes. i never could make it and got really frustrated, and between that and the summer weather...i gave it up. but i've been doing a ton of classes…

classes vs. weights....?
let me begin by clarifying that the majority of my classes (5 out of 8) are circuit based, and include a good amount of upper body strength training including weights, pushups, plank holds, etc. we also do a ton of leg conditioning with squats and lunges. however, i am wondering if the leg work is enough. i love my classes…

*so* tired....!
i have been keeping to a pretty full workout schedule - at least one class per day, sometimes two. and they are some pretty crazy calorie blasting classes - a great mix of cardio and strength training. i've been at this for at least five weeks now, maybe six. when i first started, i went through a phase of feeling very…
