i have been keeping to a pretty full workout schedule - at least one class per day, sometimes two. and they are some pretty crazy calorie blasting classes - a great mix of cardio and strength training. i've been at this for at least five weeks now, maybe six. when i first started, i went through a phase of feeling very tired, but after about a week it went away and i felt totally energized.

this week, i've notice the same tired, drained feeling as when i first started. anyone know what's going on? i'm hesitant to take a big break because i enjoy the classes and i don't want to get out of my habit. i'm capable of completing the classes like usual...it's just afterwards, i've been feeling pretty dull. i don't feel sick and i haven't been neglecting my vitamin, and i haven't eaten anything extremely anti-nutritional either. any thoughts? i want my energy back!

make sure you are eating a lot of slow burnig foods and your protiens are above normal at that amount of working out.

It is called "overtraining"... basically you aren't allowing your body/muscles time to recover before you overstress them again. You can certainly do one and occasionally two workouts per day consistently if you eat right but you have to allow yourself recovery time. Make sure you are going all out on some days, and backing off on others, and taking it easy (active recovery) at least once a week. Not every workout has to be super intense to be effective. On double workout or heavy strength training days make sure you're getting enough protein. Remember you reap the benefits of your workout while your body is at rest.

    Hi
You should take a couple of days off a week...it doesn't have to be in a row...on the days you do take a break go for a walk or bike ride, still some excercise, but nothing too hard on your body. Take vitamin C and make sure you are getting enough protein. Also make sure when you do work out you are getting complex carbs.....also make sure you ARE eating enough...if you don't your body goes into conserving mode...i know it seems weird but the more times you eat during the day (healthful) the more likely your body will just use up that energy and you will shed pounds.
    Hope this helps :)
