What's Your Most Recent NSV
My most recent NSV is taking a selfie with my daughter and seeing dimples again! I have hated how I've looked for so long and I actually don't hate this picture and my dimples are back. Can't remember the last time I saw those, I know it was when a Bush was in office! Even the fact that I was willing to take a selfie is an…

Asking for prayers and positive thoughts
I know this is a fitness board, but I'm trying to get as many people as possible to pray, or send positive thoughts, to my friend's family. My friend's son was in a car accident and has suffered a terrible brain injury. He's a senior in high school, his brother was in the car with him but walked away without a scratch. He…

What can you do now that you couldn't do 30 days ago?
In the last week, I've shaved a minute off my mile time. It's still only 10:31 but I couldn't do that a week ago. I also have some shorts that I could barely squeeze into the beginning of the summer and now are too big!! How about you, what's changed or can you now do that you couldn't 30 days ago?

Anyone recently return to college in their 40's
I'm considering return to college...and I'm 44. I have been to college but left in my 20's after having my daughter, just couldn't keep up with work, school and a child, although I wish I had toughed it out. So that was about 17 years ago. I don't know if my credits even count for anything, although I had a 3.8 GPA at the…

Need pickle recipes
I have lots of cukes coming in, some are bush cukes which I grew to make pickles. They are quite large, however, think the size you would get out of a big barrel. I tried making spears last year and they were terrible. Need some recipes/tips on turning these into pickles. Thanks in advance!

17 yr old daughter just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
My 17 yr old dd was just diagnosed with type 1. We don't personally know anyone with this disease. Would love to hear from anyone with tips, tricks, etc. it's all so overwhelming. She's doing great, and is confident that she can handle this, which is great. However, I think it's going to be more challenging than she…

Why you should do this...DON'T GIVE UP! NSV!
I had the best evening and thought I would share as I know sometimes we all have rough, I want to throw in the towel kind of days and if this encourages just one person to not do that, then my sharing was all worth it. Anyway...on to the story. I work part time at a wonderful YMCA in southern OH. I have worked there for 7…

Gluten and ADD
I have a 13 year old that has Tourette's Syndrome and ADD. He is not medicated because many of the ADD meds have an adverse affect on the ADD and the med he did try he didn't like the side affects. I've read a few stories on line about switching to a gluten free diet and how it helps those with ADD. Wondered if anyone here…

Help with Squats with Bar
I recently have started squatting with the bar and am having trouble getting very low into them. I don't know if it's mental because I'm afraid of bad form and hurting myself or what. Without the bar I can do *kitten* to grass but I get it on and I don't even get parallel. Any advice on how I can lower. I want to make…

NSV Bike Ride
Just to prove that this isn't all about a number on a scale, I want to share my NSV. For my birthday this weekend, I decided that instead of spending a bunch of money at a restaurant, I'd rather DO something. DO is my new favorite thing! So, we went to our bike trail (very lucky in OH to have many miles of bike trail on…

Anyone left that started this as a New Years Resolution
Anyone left that started this journey as part of their New Year's Resolution. Just curious to see how many stuck to it this year. I wasn't even planning on this being part of my resolution this year. Hoping that there's other's that stuck it out too. I really feel like this is part of my life now and I'm so happy to have…

Favorites in Salad
I love salad, always have, "dieting" or not. I also prefer my veggies raw over cooked. Anyway, I'm eating a lot more salad now a days and I'm looking for some new combos. I never used to like sweet in salad but I've found it's yum, I was wrong! What do you like in your salad?

What can you do now that you couldn't 30 days ago
Yesterday, I managed to jog a lap (a lap is 1/9th of a mile at my YMCA's track), walk a lap for 2 miles. I had trouble even trying to jog one lap a month ago. So, what can you do that you couldn't a month ago?

Has anyone done the Run for Your Life Zombie 5k
I'm thinking about making this my first 5k...it looks so fun! I know it's not a standard 5k. Has anyone done this and if so, what'd you think. For those interested, here's the website http://www.runforyourlives.com/ Thanks!

If you've ever "fallen off" the wagon, how'd you recover
OK, so I haven't completely fallen off the wagon but I started out doing great. I was steadily losing 2 pounds a week on average, working out 30 mins - 90 minutes a day 6 - 7 days per week, and didn't even desire to overeat. I logged EVERYTHING everyday. But the past two weeks, I've been sleeping in rather than getting up…

2013 Resolutionists, who's still here and how are you doing?
I started officially on January 2nd, pretty much the definition of a "resolutionist" I suppose...but the great thing is, I'm still around and can't see myself quitting...ever!! I've worked my butt off (okay, I still have a lot of butt but I'm working it off) to ERADICATE 14 pounds and I'm NOT getting them back, not EVER!…

HRM calories burned versus arc trainer estimates
I'm trying to decide if I should invest in a HRM when I can. I currently mostly exercise at my YMCA and the machines all have the ability to enter your weight and age to estimate your calories burned. I'm curious to know from someone who uses a HRM and has been able to compare how accurate the calorie count is. I usually…
