Ground turkey chili
I use "no salt added" cans so your macros may end up different than mine. I've started using dried kidney beans to make this a little better, health-wise but I haven't changed it in my diary recipe, so the macros might be a little better than I'm showing at the bottom of this post. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!! 1…

Barbeque ribs recipes - YUMMMMM
I like to cook and bake things myself so I can eat more of the things that I like and still be eating healthier than eating out or buying the pre-made stuff at the store. Also, if I plug the recipe into the Diary, I get to see the macros. I roll my own sushi to avoid the high sodium of getting it elsewhere. This past…

Follow Fridays
I was wondering why there isn't a Follow Friday on MFP like there is on Twitter, etc. I would recommend some of my friends for sure. I have some friends that are super motivators and big (weight) losers. This week I will recommend: 1southernchick, reepobob, roylawrence87, bynsky, taso42, twinwolf, grunt1 and Skolls081102.…

Parting words
The 98-year-old Mother Superior from Ireland was dying. The nuns gathered around her bed, attempting to make her last journey comfortable. They tried to give her some warm milk to drink, but she refused. One of the nuns took the glass back to the kitchen, where she remembered the bottle of Irish whiskey received as a gift…

My latest NSV
When I started running last year, I was 20 pounds heavier and my knees didn't like it one bit. I think it was related to my career as a carpenter taking it's toll. I started taking Osteo-Biflex Triple Strength, the pain went away and I kept it up while running nearly every day for the past year. About 2 months ago, I…

Pizza dough and sauce - Low calories
My MFPals have been asking for my recipes because they see it in my diary nearly every day. I have redone the original recipe and am pleased to see how much lower the calories are on the new dough recipe !! The dough calories and macros for one slice out of eight are: Calories: 151; Carbs: 27; Fat: 4; Protein: 4; Sugar: 2;…

Taking it to a new level - Upping my comittment
This may seem a bit dramatic. I took another step in the right direction today. I finally took my deep fat fryer off the counter and cleaned it out and put it away in a cabinet. There. I did it. Its over. No turning back.

Exercise and sodium intake - Dr. Manny on Fox
This just came over on Twitter.... A good read that I thought was good to share here. Exercise may limit damaging effects of a high sodium diet on blood pressure http://bit.ly/fLr5Dd

"Playing the Tape"
I posted this to my blog yesterday and the comments I received got me thinking I should post it on the boards as well. This has helped me immensely in my journey and maybe it can help you as well. I woke up this morning and felt as good as any other in the last month. I went through my usual routine and when I was dressing…

Paying attention vs. paying compliments
I'm a little upset about the recent hubbub regarding the "tough love" postings. Inasmuch as they were perceived to be rude, misguided or whatever, the intention was to open people's eyes to what is going on right under their noses. I had a person on my News Feed that had actually closed the log for the day at a negative on…

water replacing the sweat
I drink a half liter of water during and after my morning run. (4.4 miles @ 6.0 mph walk/cool down 1.4 miles @ 3.5 mph). Do I count this toward my total glasses drunk for the day or is some or all of this replacing the sweat? I check my hydration level twice a week on my bio scale and I'm always < 53.7 - 54.3>. So what do…

Last two days I upped my water and stopped drinking Gatorade. Last two nights B4 meal 5 and even this morning, I'm not hungry. I forced myself to eat a few cookies and a protein…

Hello from Ocala, FL
I just joined yesterday to be more formal in my effort. I started losing weight a year and a half ago just by eating better, smaller meals. Then I hit a plateau after going from 260 to 215 in 5 months. I started walking and that didn't do anything perhaps because I wasn't walking fast enough. I started running every other…

Intro
I started running a year ago to continue losing weight after reaching a plateau. Through many mistakes due to ignorance how to do it at the right pace with the right size shoes, etc. I've recently recovered from my second different tendonopathy in my leg and have learned how to do it right. I would like to run a mini or…
