I just joined yesterday to be more formal in my effort. I started losing weight a year and a half ago just by eating better, smaller meals. Then I hit a plateau after going from 260 to 215 in 5 months. I started walking and that didn't do anything perhaps because I wasn't walking fast enough. I started running every other day and after building up to 3 miles I started pairing up days between days off. I worked that up to 4 miles a day and started to see a real drop of 2.5 pounds a week. The amazing thing was that I wasn't eating clean or counting calories. I was eating biscuits and gravy, homemade pizza but pizza just the same among other things. Like any good addict I went too fast in building my mileage and strained my achilles tendon on my left ankle. I recovered and started up again and strained another ligament in my left calf I believe because my running shoes had too many miles on them. Since this second recovery I have started up again and am slooooowly building my mileage and speed to get ready for a marathon later this year or at least the local one next January. My short term goal is to run 6 miles in under an hour by my b-day this month. My longer term goal is to be under 200 by April 1 as well as running 7 miles @ 6.5 mph pace. Anyone want to join me and work on running/losing weight together? Let me know and if you want to see my running schedule I'll email the spreadsheet to you. I love this database!! It even has the exact brand of protein powder and Clif bars I use!! Happy New Year, God Bless and good luck in all your efforts.
P.S. I run first thing in the morning after only a cup of hot tea(I don't like coffee) because I've read that fasted cardio burns fat instead of the calories. That's what I was doing in the beginning only to avoid the traffic. Now I have a treadmill.

Hi Im from Ocala too. I would love to team up with you but I had my hip resurfaced 2 years ago and I have to watch what I do. I try to ride my bike which is really the only thing I can do. I cannot pound on my hip, the doc said its not a real hip so be careful..I certainly dont want to go thru that again. But I certainly would like to be your fitness pal.0
