This just came over on Twitter.... A good read that I thought was good to share here.

Exercise may limit damaging effects of a high sodium diet on blood pressure http://bit.ly/fLr5Dd

Interesting. I personally believe that the 2500 mg limit gets a little over-hyped, as does the 8 glasses of water per day rule.

And now for my purely anecdotal evidence: my sodium intake is almost always over the 2500 limit. But I exercise pretty vigorously (when I'm not injured). And every time I go see a doc of one kind or another, which is fairly regular, they always praise me on my blood pressure, pulse, & cholesterol. idk, take it for what it's worth.

Years ago I was triaged at a hospital for a hand fracture. I was a 2-pack a day smoker and put salt on nearly everything I ate. I was working as a Supervisor framing houses, so I got plenty of exercise. When he saw my BP(105/62) and at-rest HR(50) and then noticed my pack of smokes in my shirt pocket, he asked how much I smoked and I told him. He was astounded at how good my numbers were. Maybe it was the exercise?

LOL That's my HR and BP. My dad says if it was any lower, I'd be dead!! Scares the heck out of nurses too... as I found out, during my recovery from surgery in December (hernia). LOL

When I used to go give blood plasma the nurses made me do jumping jacks first cuz they were worried about my pulse being too low. It's typically around 42. In fact one time a nurse got real concerned, she thought she wasn't hearing all the beats. haha
