Why are EASY slow cooker recipes so COMPLEX?

5X5 stronglifts
I've made the decision to add a few more days of weight lifting to my workout life. Presently, I only weight lift with a trainer, so I'm still kind of a novice. As far as something that I can follow along on my iPhone and do, is Stronglifts 5X5 the way to go? Another? Simpler is better right now. Thanks!

5 minute pre bed workout
5 minutes before bed. Want to work out a little. What should I do? Go! (Already thinking bodyweight squats and standard-to-forearm planks). ETA...I hit the gym in the morning. This is just an additional supplement.

Currently 300-ish lbs. Once I hit 285 lbs, where I haven't been in at least 5 years, I'll know I'm starting something. Until then, It's kinda been there / done that to be honest. What is your THAT WEIGHT?

Protein Powder
I only have protein shakes on LIFT days, not CARDIO days. And, since I'm new, I only LIFT once a week for the time being. My current protein of choice is ON Gold Standard 100% whey. Dude, how do you do a plank?
I'm a 35 year old dude in horrible shape. I keep hearing about the benefit of planks. How do you do one? Just get up on your toes and elbows and stay there? Do you suck in your gut the whole time, too? I don't get it!

Are Cheat Days A Myth?
I need someone to correct me if I am wrong. But I once heard said that CHEAT DAYS are one the the worst things for a diet. IE, 6 2000 calorie days and 1 6000 calorie day dows you know good.
