Workouts for Maximum Results in Minimum Time?
I have always been a little lazy. I like to put in as little time as possible for the best ROI. So if I put in 65% effort and get let's say have an 80% improvement, and increasing my effort to 70% leads to an 81% improvement, it isn't worth it to me. That's a crappy ROI. I feel the same way about workouts. I don't know…

Are any of your body parts at goal before you are?
As I was getting ready today, I was evaluating my calves. They look like they are as small as they are going to get. There might be a .25 inch that could go away, but that is pretty optimistic. So I think the journey is over for my calves. It also means that I will continue to give up hope on halving an easy time finding…

Couldn't seal the deal
I went to a networking event today. I ended up meeting a great guy, we had several hilarious conversations about travel, family, and facebook. He grabbed my card and end of story. Guess I need to go to the next one and see if he is there again, I didn't get his details, even to make a superficial connection. You guys have…

Question: Did your style change when you reached your goal?
I was just mulling this over? I know for many people when they start their weight loss journey, one of the things they look forward to most is getting new clothing at the end, and wearing stuff they weren't comfortable in when they were heavier. So for all you successes out there, did your style change when you go to goal?…

What are your ratios?
Do you have target percentages for carbs/protein/fats in your diet? What's your target? How about actual? I have mine set to: 45% carbs 25% protein 30% fat Actuals for the year: Carbs: 46.67% Protein: 20% Fats: 33.33% I am a little lower than my goal on protein. I haven't met it for a week yet, but this week is close to…

Results with body weight strength training
I am wondering? Who has great results with strength training, using just their body weight? No weights, no cables, no bands. Just your hands (and feet) and maybe a wall or a chair. What does your workout look like?

Do you have a closet full of "skinny" clothes?
I was doing a little bit of closet cleaning this weekend, and pondering what is ripe to donate. I realize that I pretty much purges all clothing from high school, college and my early 20s at some point. I was thinking to myself if I will be able to "shop my closet" as I lose. After the inventory I realize I have a couple…

What do you wear to workout?
I was just wondering, what is your workout clothes style or philosophy: Are you: * sweats and a t-shirt from your spouse/significant other/free from an event * lululemon or bust * whatever's clean, I don't care about my workout clothes, as long as I am comfy * matching and coordinated from head to toe * my gym clothes…

Awkward Situation
H everyone. How do you handle this sort of situation. So we had a company function. I planned to bring my sister to the event and she bailed at the last minute. Since it was a plated dinner I needed to get a replacement guest. Since my good female friend was busy I reluctantly invited one of my guy friends. (No dating…

Do you log everything?
Looking at other peoples diaries, I notice they log things I don't. Do you log everything? I know I leave off things like spices (unless I am making a recipe), tea, lemon juice, calorie free sweeteners, gum, and vitamins. I add milk or honey if I use it in my tea, but I usually don't add the cup of tea. I know I…

Now that you've reached your goal, how do you maintain?
I was just thinking about this this morning, so I wanted to throw this out there. For those of you that have been successful: you've reached your goal, or close, and maintained it for a year. How have you done it? What has changed since you are no longer in "losing mode." What has stayed the same? Did you do any of the…

Any tips for a vacation?
I am headed to my first trip since I have been aggressively counting calories. At home, I have my go to places to eat out with lots of interesting and healthy choices so I never feel deprived, and I know the exact ingredients. The weekend, I am headed to Santa Fe. So do you have any tips? I will need to survive 4 days of…

What portion of calories do you eat after 5p?
I wanted to take a little poll. How many calories (what percentage) do leave for dinner and post dinner snacks? I've heard the old adage about breakfast like a king.......but I know that doesn't work for me. I like to have breakfast foods at breakfast time, and I can rarely make it to a 400 calorie breakfast. Mine are…

Do you have a goal weight, clothing size, measurements, stre
Just a random question. When setting your goal, are you driven by the scale? A target set of measurements? A clothing size? A certain level of fitness? All of the above or something else? For me, I have a goal clothing size range, I do not care what number is on the scale. At the moment I have a target for my tracker, but…

Decadent Scramble Eggs
Are you craving rich and creamy? Try to make slow scrambled eggs. They take a little while, but the results are amazing. It tastes like you are eating butter and cream. In a good way of course. http://www.salon.com/2009/12/26/slow_scrambled_eggs/ Basically. Start by beating your eggs as usual. Season as usual. Take your…

Sparkling water, yay or nay?
I need to come clean. I am addicted to sparkling water. I mostly quit soda at around age 12 -- I think I OD on them. I switched to tea and lemonade. Since then, I might have one a month. Maybe. If the flavor sounds great I'll have one. So 90% of the time, if I am out I'll drink water or unsweetened tea (or very lightly…

I updated my tracker
I update my tracker. I gained 12 pounds since I set it up (my highest weight). I have since lost 5 pounds. It was unmotivating to see progress with no progress. So I changed my starting weight to my high from a few weeks ago. Here's to a new year with a fresh start!

Starting the Whole Living Action Plan on Monday
This year has been tough for me: getting adjusted to a new job and work environment, being diagnosed hypothyroid and getting on track with my health and being busy. Unfortunately this new working from home gig means I gained 10 pounds! :( Other than being hypothyroid, my health is pretty good so my motivations are mainly…

Exercise as an appetite suppressant?
I have noticed that I am less hungry (not more hungry) when I exercise. Yesterday I was starving for the entire day. I only had 400 calories left and I was starving before I went to my tennis lesson. I didn't eat dinner until 90 minutes after the lesson. Today the same thing. I have also found it is easier to stay in my…

Looking for a 30 minute fish dinner?
I shared a 30 minute recipe. Mine is for 1, but you can double/quadruple as needed. It is very easy and flavorful (and adaptable). Feel free to search for it. Total calories ~ 420, ~32g of protein, ~9g of fiber. (You can also easily adapt it to a low carb diet and cut ~200+) calories Cod en Papillote w/ Bok Choy, Peppers +…

What to pair with my dead lifts?
Hi everyone -- Does anybody have an idea of what to add to my circuit? I have been doing a combo of 3-4 exercises in a circuit along the lines of 25-15-10 reps. I need something else, maybe full body or upper body to fit in with a dead lift overhead press combo (in one move), woodchuck (standing ab exercise), and XXX?…

Getting back in the habit
Hi everyone! I started this year hoping to get back in the habit of exercising regularly. After March, I got focused on other things and felt really low energy. I just couldn't dig up the energy (and prioritze) getting to the gym. Looking at my weight fluctuations over the past couple of years, I have found the only way to…

Deadlift kicked my butt
Today decided to use the free weights instead of the machines. I did a circuit with a mix of 6 different exercises, including deadlifts. Within 30 minutes, my legs were so sore. Well maybe not sore, but inching to soreness. I will totally feel it tomorrow. I am blaming the deadlifts. I remember the first time I did them,…

Cute Workout Clothes for 14+ Sizes
I am one of those people in limbo land in terms of sizes. I am L/XL on top an 18/20 on the bottom. I'm also DD+. I have so much trouble finding cute workout clothes. Sometimes the "regular" sizes fit, but workout tanks with the shelf bra do not fit at all (no room for the girls). it is also hard to find supportive sports…

I wussed out
I live about 1.2 mi from the gym. I always feel like I should walk there and back so I can skip the cardio and go straight to weights (and avoid paying for parking). The problem with the walk home, is well the hill home. It is actually up hill the entire way. With the last 4 blocks as the steepest portion. Today I walked…

Bacon!
I don't know about you, but I sometimes I really get a craving for bacon. I've been picking up a reduced fat bacon from Whole Foods. http://www.wellshirefarms.com/store/page7.html It actually just tastes like bacon. No gimmicks. It it pork bacon, nitrate free. I think they just use a slightly leaner pig. Not sure, but it…
