OMG! I guess life isn't so bad
Check out this amazing (and unfortunate) bit of news: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080529/ap_on_re_us/iron_lung_death Can you imagine spending your life like that? It gives me nightmares. What strength this woman and her family had.

Attack of the Vending Machine!
 Darn thing got me today at work--a snickers bar AND cupcakes  Not over calories though--unless I have dinner  I do have quite a sugar headache from it, which I'll take as a good sign--I have been really good since I started MFP.

shopping calories
Wow, clothes shopping burns a lot of calories, if you're at it all afternoon!!

Great workout today!
I had a great workout today! Despite the fact that it's "that time of the month", my heart rate was so low on the elliptical I hardly felt like I was working until the end. I actually felt like I was "in shape"! How awesome was that! I went for 50 minutes/600 calories. Did anyone else have a good work out today?

OFF topic--killer kitty
I hope someone has a suggestion for my loveable mouse/rat killing boy kitty. He has been bringing me one almost everyday for the past month, leaving it in various stages of death & dismemberment on my floor :grumble: He has occasionally done this in the past, but there has never been a killing streak like this one! He does…

family weekend
Hey I did so good today calorie-wise! Considering the fam is here and it's our typical eat-a-thon, I was only 127 calories over!!! That's fewer calories over than during finals week!! Hahaa. OK so next week I swear, completely on the wagon...

estimating calories...
I worked out & then went to lunch with a friend and had a great asparagus and ricotta calzone. It seemed like it was meant as a one-person entree...so I was estimating the calories as 500. Then, I got home & emailed the restaurant. He was very nice, got back to me right away...the calzone was 965 calories!! Ouch. Gotta get…

Nephew's B-day
Today is my nephew's 2nd b-day  We had a great flank steak, baked potato, green beans, all pretty healthy. Except the wine, champagne, cheese, bread, and chocolate birthday cake of course! Well worth it though to spend time with my family, and tomorrow's another boring old day at work. Hope you all are having a…

Black-eyed Peas w/ Butternut Squash
I made this Weight Watchers Recipe tonight. It's really good and very easy. It makes a ton of food 10 cups total. I used SparkRecipe Calculator and found that 1 cup has 154 calories, 1 g fat, 236 mg sodium, 31g total carbs, 5g fiber, 2g sugar, and 6g protein. The nutritional info at the bottom of the recipe is from…

walking uphill & downhill question
I've googled various exercise calculators and they all seem to have the same 2 options: walking 3.5 mph, uphill walking 2.5 mph downhill This is a bit frustrating because I do tend to go uphill more slowly 3.5 mph and downhill faster than 2.5 mph. Has anyone found a way to calculate this more accurately, apart from wearing…

Book: Appetite for Profit
I have not yet read this, has anyone else? It sounds very interesting! The United States is currently embroiled in a national debate over the growing public health crisis caused by poor diet. Many people are starting to ask who is to blame and how can we fix the problem, especially among children. The major food companies…

What's for dinner April 7?
My fridge is almost empty :frown: Corn dogs? Pasta? Beans? Hmmm. Hope you all have a better dinner than me!

My new candybar replacement
:frown: I bought some of those Clif Builders Bars at the supermarket, they were on sale so I bought four chocolate ones and four peanut butter ones. They are sooooo good, especially since I haven't had many sweets for the past 6 weeks or so. Problem is, they are sooooo good, I always eat more than one. I have no control…

environment & eating
So I just got back from visiting my mom. It was just an overnight trip but it was like culture shock. I live in a city in its own little microcosm: no fast food chain restaurants, no chain restaurants at all, no malls. There's a huge natural, healthy food culture here. Although there's a food court on campus and plenty of…

Body Fat Measurement
Does anybody use one of the weight scales that also provides body fat measurement by impedance? I've seen these at the store and wonder how accurate they are, does anyone have an insight here?

Food Scale
Hi Can anyone recommend a good quality food scale? One I can weigh meats & fish on, plus items like nuts & grains? I think I need to stop eyeballing serving sizes, at least until I get used to what a normal portion looks like. Thanks!

So hungry on days I don't exercise
Does this happen to anyone else? I get so hungry on the days I don't exercise, sometimes my body is screaming for food! And on exercise days, this is usually not a problem. It seems so contrary.

hey there
Hi everyone, Well, I'm going to take it easy compared to you all--my first goal is just to keep my calorie intake under 2000 per day!! So I'm starting w/ 1700 per day just to get used to it all. Wish me luck 'cause I love to eat!
