I bought some of those Clif Builders Bars at the supermarket, they were on sale so I bought four chocolate ones and four peanut butter ones. They are sooooo good, especially since I haven't had many sweets for the past 6 weeks or so. Problem is, they are sooooo good, I always eat more than one. I have no control whatsoever if they are around, so I am not going to keep those in the house anymore. Ugh. I hope one of these days I'll get past the eating just to eat thing.

  • I know exactly what you mean!!! For one i have this thing since i started this for sweets. I have not really ever been big on chocolate but for the past two weeks thats all i've been wanting... So yeah i dont even buy it cause i know if it is around i'll eat it and not stop. Another problem i have is i am recovering from two brain surgeries so i cant work and i get really bored during the day and find myself wanting to eat. Well good luck and try not to let it get the best of you. I tell have to keep telling myself control control, lol.

Make sure you are getting enough fat in your diet. Sweet cravings are more likely when you aren't.

Im not a big sweets person....however i am a carb and fat person (l love big greasy cheeseburgers, fries, chips and dip you get the idea)

what i have done is find a "sweet" that can take the edge off. that sweet is the Zone chocolate peanutbutter snack bars. Granted they are small but only 80 cals ea and two of them seem to do the trick for me and its still less than half of the cals of most sports/healthy candy bars.

Give them a try, not sure how many different flavors but im sure there is one you will enjoy.

I usually go on line and order a 2lb box of See's dark chocolate nuts & chews (1 piece 70 cal) and split it with my wife. We set our half boxes in the night stand next to the bed and have one when we go to bed at night and read. It's a great treat at the time. It does take self control to keep from eating the whole thing but that's part of my "training" and "reprogramming" as well.

I rely on Detour Bars. The original tastes like a Snickers Bar. You can get them at Wal Mart, GNC and many grocery stores

I do something similar as rheston.. i bought these mini eggs (on special after easter) dark chocolate praline, 40 cal each. if my calories are ok for the day and i feel like it i have one. ( i do that 2-3 times a week) took me a while to trust myself with having such thing in he house.. i keep them out of sight but i know where they are.

but as rheston its part of my learning about self discipline and the love of things in moderation. eating 1 egg takes me a long time .. and i try not to make it something like a reward.. (coz then ill find all kinds of reason for a reward .. yeah... vacuuming around is not good enough )
it has to have no meaning to me other then just enjoying it. it also has to purpose to remind me that i am not on a diet but a life style change. on a diet i would eat such thing, but with well balanced eat habits.... sure.

    good luck :)

Oh man, See's chocolate is SO good!!! That is a good idea though. I would rather have ONE quality piece of chocolate than some other crap!

I like the Clif Luna Bars. On workout days, I often eat 1/2 of one before and the other 1/2 after the workout, especially on the days I workout in the AM and am not hungry for breakfast before I go. I like the S'mores flavor a lot!

Clif also makes a mint builder bar that is glorious. I found that the high number of calories, plus the desire to eat= overeating hell for me (with the clif bars). So I started to look around for other deliciously good bars with high protein and low calorie. What I have found: target sells Pure Protein Double Chocolate bars 180 cals and 20 grams protein (literally tastes like fudge and if you zap it in the microwave for 10 seconds you have a melty heaven). Also, they sell south beach diet 100 calorie bars with 6 grams protein. Nice little snack. Many candy companies are offering 100 cal packs of things too. Walgreens currently sells 100 calorie packs of snickers, m&m's, butterfingers ect. Finally, a protein shake in the am/ and or pm is a great way to begin or close off your day. 1 scoop of chocolate power has 100 calories and is very filling. I clearly have a wicked sweet tooth and I am not about to give up something so good! Best of luck.
