How do you stop yourself...
...feeling like you're using your pain as an excuse not to exercise enough? I've had fibro for 10 years and because I know what it is, I can usually tell when pain is just fibro pain and it's ok to exercise with that because it's not something "serious" (ie: damaging). But, I've also been experiencing an as yet undiagnosed…

Goodbye 75lbs!
I started my journey in summer 2012 at around 217lbs. I lost about a stone through cutting back a bit, but it became stagnant. I came to MFP in October 2013 and haven't looked back. I log everything - the good days and the bad. I have fibromyalgia and various other issues so my exercise has been solely walking and…

Does anyone use a HRM for swimming?
I've never had a HRM and I only do swimming as exercise. MFP says I burn between 300-600 a session (depending on length), but I presume that's about 100 out. Does anyone use one for swimming? How much does it differ from MFP calculations? I've heard they're hard to use for swimming because they need to be tight/have skin…

Back strengthening exercises
Looking for some advice. My workout is all cardio at the moment (swimming) but I've been suffering with lower back pain. My doctor's checked it all out and told me to find some exercises to strengthen my lower back, but I don't have a clue. Can anyone suggest any, or point me in the direction of some? I currently have an…

Confused about upping calories
I am 26 and 5ft 4 (or 3, depending which doctor you ask!). In the past 13 months using MFP I've come down from 201 to 139, my goal weight is 126 (maybe lower). I've been on 1200 calories for most of these 13 months, with a few trials on 1400, but my loss dropped off or stopped completely. I'm currently on 1295 and I eat…

First 50lbs down (with pics)
In 2006 I joined Weight Watchers, lost 60lbs+ and got down to my lowest adult weight at 159lbs, before going travelling and heading off to uni. I felt great and I kept most of it off too, until 2010 when a bad patch sent me straight back to comfort eating and by summer 2012 I'd put most of them back on. Between summer 2012…

Reducing stomach
I'm looking for ways to reduce stomach bloating, certain foods to eat if possible? I was recently diagnosed with IBS and I have blood pressure issues so I have to maintain a relatively high salt/sodium intake at times. I bloat a lot and wondered if there was anything I eat do to reduce it?

Best exercises for bingo wings?
I've been Googling but there's loads of advice out there so I'm looking for personal advice? I know you can't spot train areas but I've never done much weights work so I'm a bit clueless. I have temperamental wrists due to health problems so lots and lots of press ups is out. Any help MFPs?

Has anyone...?
..done the 30 Day Shred and NOT lost weight? I'm on Day 9 (Level 1) and haven't lost anything. Finding it really tough due to health conditions, but I'm still just about getting through it. But I'm getting disheartened. I'm eating between 1200-1400 on average, no different from normal. Just wondered if anyone else had…

Exercise calories
I usually swim, but I just started the 30 Day Shred aswell - can anyone tell me how I add the calories burnt during the Shred? Or is it not worth tracking?

Strength exercise with health issue advice
Looking for some advice please. I currently only do cardio exercise (swimming, walking). I am looking to start some strength exercises. I know you can't spot exercise certain areas but I am particularly looking to reduce my bingo wings and work on my belly flab as these are my most stubborn areas. Thighs would also be good…

HRM question
Looking for some advice. I get all my exercise from swimming. I am wondering, how much does MFP overestimate, generally? I've been wondering if it's worth getting a HRM to use while swimming. If that's a sensible idea, can anyone recommend me one? Preferably one that won't break the bank!

Eating after swimming
I wondered if anyone could tell me what's best to eat after swimming, please. Protein? Or carbs? I am on a mission to lose 60lbs and I'm about 1/3 of the way in. Swimming is my only form of exercise at present (due to health and financial issues), I go 3/4x a week, for 30-45 mins a time. I have to eat something small (like…

UKers - Looking for some digital kitchen scales
Wondering if anyone had any recommendations of any good digital kitchen scales for me? Anything to avoid? Or where to even look? (Other than just supermarkets and Amazon.) I've been using a little analogue scale and it's doing me just fine, but it's small and maybe not totally accurate. I got some Christmas money (because…

Costa UK help please!
Just wondered if anyone could help me work things out please. I am not a hot drink drinker and thus I don't know. Today I had a medium hot chocolate takeaway from Costa - without cream. I just asked for a hot chocolate. Seeing as I don't use Costa, I don't know if their default is full fat or skimmed milk? Can anyone tell…

Drinking alcohol whilst dieting
Looking for a few pointers on drinking "healthier". Christmas is coming and while I'm not a big drinker, I tend to drink a lot in Decembers because that's when you get together with people you haven't seen for a while.. I only have a few events planned so I'm not too worried, but I just wondered if I could cut calories…

How often to weigh in?
I've been using MFP for about 7 weeks now and I am of the school of thought to weigh in once a week - but that may be instilled in me because I did Weight Watchers for a long time in the past and obviously there you weigh in once a week. Here I see people recording their weigh every day or every other day. Obviously that's…

Having a wobble - looking for supportive friends!
Hello MFPers. I've been here 6 weeks properly and have had good weeks and bad weeks, but so far this week I'm having a bit of a wobble. There seem to be Pringles in the house and my willpower is cracking. I still want to lose weight and I'm trying, but just looking for some encouraging friends really. I've already got some…

Anyone compared MFP/Calorie counting to Weight Watchers?
I am wondering if anyone has done MFP vs WW and noticed which one was better? I am about 5 weeks into my time at MFP and am starting to struggle to lose weight, even though I'm within my calories almost every day. I know weight loss generally plateaus for everyone now and then, but my plan was to try MFP Oct - Jan and then…
