Need Video Ideas - left shoulder bumming
Hello! Looking to glean some ideas from the masses on MFP. I have an as yet undiagnosed shoulder injury. I've noticed it being achy or twingy in the past, but it is now unhappy enough to interfere with normal activities (taking shirt off, lifting hatch of car, etc.). I work out at home using dvds and youtube with light…

alternative to the deadlift
Hello! So, I'm halfway through stage one. Before I started, I had thrown out my low back twice in the space of 2 months. I've been seeing a chiropractor and he says that I have a disc that is unhappy and slightly squashed (not herniated yet THANKFULLY!). He said it's great that I'm lifting weights but suggested that I…

New to the group, but excited for lifting!
Hi all, I've been playing around with weights for a few months now and decided to commit to an actual program. This is the one I picked. I just finished week 1 of stage 1 and am looking forward to pushing ahead. Cheers! :drinker:

Really getting more frustrated every week
OK. I've been lifting for about 3 months averaging about 2 sessions per week with walking on other days and hard cardio on one day per week. My newbie strength gains are going great. I can do multiple sets of whole-body standard push-ups now. I am approaching 100lbs on my squat. My OHP is getting ever so slightly bigger.…

For Real or Not? Looking for opinions/suggestions
Hi all! Just looking for some support and suggestions: I started heavy lifting February 14th and since then have gained a very solid 4-6 lbs. My measurements have NOT gone down and in fact, I just feel fatter in general. Pictures also don't look good. My strength gains have been pretty good though! Some of the progress is…

weight-room gym etiquette?
I just joined a new gym and also started a new weight routine. To my dismay, I have found that there is only one squat rack/olympic bar and I'm always competing with others for it in the after work rush. Is there a proper way to share the bar? I have offered to share, but then others don't want to because they have to load…

the pace is too darned slow
I'm sure this question has been asked to death, but how should I log my running when I am not able to produce a 12 minute mile (the slowest running pace in MFP database)? I usually run on trails with lots of hills and my pace is 13:30 to 14:00 per minute (makes me feel like a tortoise!) On the treadmill I can maintain…

Need some advice, encouragement, support...Anything!!
Need some advice - I haven't had any success losing weight in the past year. I've lost a few lbs here and there, but they always come back as soon as I travel, take a week off, etc. Even though when I am traveling, I'm not going overboard, still getting lots of exercise, etc. It just ALWAYS happens. Usually gain 5lbs in a…

conflicting info from trainer...hmm
OK... Saw a trainer tonight (after I had a rough experience with one this past weekend, another offered to take a look at my exercise/food diary and trouble shoot). 1. She says I'm eating too much protein and I should aim for about 15% of my macros as protein (about 65g) and that if I eat more protein it will be wasted as…

Spirit crushed by trainer, must rally
Hello all, I'm just here to vent because I'm frustrated and embarrassed and insulted. Sharing might make me feel better. My gym held a fitness expo this morning where they let you try out new classes and things like TRX, pilates reformer, etc. They also offer a little "free fitness assessment" where they'll do your…

Leftover orange pulp. What do?
Hi! My boyfriend made me delicious fresh orange juice in the juice machine this morning. I LOVE pulp so I added some to my glass of OJ, but we have about 6 oranges worth of pulp. Any ideas what can be done with it? I would be up for muffins or something, maybe work it into oatmeal?? NOt sure. Anyone have any good recipes…

10 weeks in, no progress. Need some pointers.
Hi All. Kinda feeling discouraged. In 10 weeks I have not been able to lose any pounds or inches. I eat between 1800-2200 depending on exercise that day. Puts my net somewhere around 1750. My BMR is 1550-ish and my TDEE is 2100-2400 depending on the activity setting. Almost every day I take mini work break walks of ~15…

jiggly percentages
So quick question for those of you who've been tracking your body fat % What method seems more accurate FOR YOU? I used the fat2fit website tools and with the military circumference method it said I was 40% fat...which seems like a lot. On the other hand, I used the fat2fit equation where it takes your wrist size, neck…

Baked eggs... still in awe
Found this on Pinterest a while ago and I'm still amazed that I'd never heard of it before. Easy way to get protein every day! And I've always though hardboiling was a PITA http://www.food.com/recipe/hard-cooked-eggs-in-the-oven-baked-eggs-61856

Need a journal review please!
Hi everyone. I was just hoping someone might take a look at my food diary for me. I've been having minimal success losing weight (and I mean basically NONE or gaining) for a year now. 3 years ago I lost about 35lbs by eating 1200-1400 cal/day and running or swimming 5x/week. I kept it off alright by maintaining a calorie…

Type I Diabetics HELP!!
Hi all, This post is not for me, but for my boyfriend. He's been counting his calories and upping his exercise for a month now and the scale is not moving at all for him. I can tell he's getting discouraged. He really needs to lose some lbs and I've been doing my best to help facilitate that by cooking meals, storing them…

Feeling awful - drug rant and warning
I have to get this off my chest. 4 weeks ago my Dr. put me on mirtazapine to help me sleep. I've been trying to lose some weight for a while now and I knew that this particular drug was sometimes associated with weight gain. In fact, it is routinely prescribed to help elderly people maintain or gain weight. I thought, "no…

Muscle soreness - what do you do?
Hello all - I spent the weekend hiking and today my legs are kinda tired. Is it a good idea to exercise them when they're fatigued? Normally I go to spinning class on Mondays, but my bf is suggesting that I don't. Even with all that hiking though, it was an indulgent weekend in the food department, so I feel like I should…

Your favorite <3 rate monitor?
Hey all you MFPers! I'm in the market for a heart rate monitor (my first one ever). I know a lot of people really advocate that it's just about the most instructive piece of equipment you can own. What do you use? What do you like/dislike about it? Is there a chest strap? Just a wrist watch? Satellites? Calorie count? Does…
