Goals
So, I'm trying to figure out what goals are appropriate to set. I've tried "long-term" (less than a year) and that seemed to far away and I kept telling myself that I had time, I didn't need to start now. Then I tried NSV goals such as to fit in a pair of pants or something, but I have no idea what is a reasonable time for…

Hurting words from someone you care about
My "best friend" just looked at a picture of a woman that is 5" shorter than I, wears the same size pants, but weighs slightly less than I. Then, my "best friend" proceeded to talk about how the girl was "beyond fat" and "there was no excuse to get like that". Mind you that my friend is over weight too. Not to such an…

5K Foam Fest?
Anyone know anything about this? I'd be interested in attending the Houston area course soon, but I am NOT a runner AT ALL, and I don't want it to be embarrassingly hard for fat me. All I can find online is reviews from runners, not people like me who are hardly even considered beginning runner. I think the right term…

Okay, So I just got a gym membership and I'm fairly excited. The last few times I went all I did was 30 minutes pretty hardcore on the elliptical. I am like waaaaay out of shape right now, so I can't really do a lot. And I only have time for a 30 minute workout before I got to work in the morning, non-negotiable as I…

my skinny fiancé wants to bulk up
So, he's 23y/o 147lb and 6'1". He's scrawny. But he has muscle in his shoulders and arms. He pretty much has no body fat. He has skinny legs and chest. Hopefully, that's enough of a description. So basically, he's looking to bulk up a little. Develop some muscle. He also needs a RADICAL diet change because for now it's…

serious weight fluctuation questions
So, my weight fluctuates a lot. I always weigh in the morning and naked. Always. After my first pee. Most accurate time so I've heard. However, my weight, day to day, can fluctuate by 10lbs. I've heard 2-3 is normal and 5 is pushing it. Should I be concerned about a 10lb fluctuation. Up and down and I can never tell if…

Blood Type Diet?
Just curious if anyone had any experience with it? I'm type O. Just seems a little horoscope-y to me. It was predicting my personality and such just off of blood type? Idk. Just skeptical I guess, but have been told it worked great for someone. So, your thoughts....give them to me. :)

Weekends :(
Weekends are the worst for me. During the week I habitually account for every calorie i take in and every exercise I do. Granted I don't have a HRM so it isn't 100% accurate, but i'm okay with close-enough numbers for now. My main downfall is the weekends. I told myself originally that weekends were my free day. rest days…

Exercise with a hurt ankle?
Yesterday I messed up my ankle in some way when I was working out. Pulled on my foot wrong during a stretch and the top of my ankle made a snap and then a tingling/burning sensation spread through that area. It's not really hurt (I've had weak ankles my whole life, so I know I didn't do any serious damage from experience…

Breathing Correctly?
One of my main faults when working out or jogging is I don't know how to breathe properly. After a few seconds it seems, I'm huffing and puffing like I just ran a marathon. Sometimes it gets so bad I get light headed. I try to time my breathing with my steps the way I always saw my dad do it, but that works for…

Best workout programs for beginners?
I am looking for a DVD program or something like that to do. I am awful at just trying to find exercises on my own. I just don't know what to do and what not to do. I am still quite new at this and I fear that a lot of these programs are too tought for me. Things like Insanity say anyone can use them. But when you can't do…

22 yrs old and no one to hold me accountable
I'm new to this site. Only been here less than a week. I got it as an app on my phone because of my friends who were doing it. I'm currently 265lbs and 5'11". At least I think I'm 265. I don't own a scale (which is bad, I know) so I'm basing it off of what my doctor said a few weeks ago. Basically I am looking for people…
